UPDATING YOUR SECURITY CAMERA FIRMWARE

Firmware Updates

In order to do a firmware update you must first identify the EXACT model number of your DVR or NVR unit. The model number can be found on the sticker located on the bottom or side of the unit. All CCTV Security Pros model numbers begin with the prefix “CSP” (Example, CSP-XXXX). Please match your model number to the list provided below. You will also need to locate your order confirmation email to determine when the unit was purchased. Once you have identified the correct model number and firmware please continue by following the instructions below.

Upgrading Your Firmware

Please identify the correct model from the list of firmware provided below.

Please select the appropriate link and download the .bin file. Once the download is completed copy the .bin file to a USB Flash/Thumb Drive. We suggest formatting your USB drive to FAT32 before attempting the update.

**Note : Units with Build Dates of 2013 or earlier may require you to rename the file to “update.bin” before launching the upgrade.

Once the .bin file has been transferred onto your drive you can insert the USB Drive into either of the two USB ports found on your unit. One can be found on the front panel and one can be found on the rear of the unit.

Once the drive is inserted into the unit go to the following menu:

Main Menu –> Setting –> System –> Upgrade. Click Start. Find and select the .bin file you transferred to the USB Drive and Click Start.

*NOTE – On select models you will need to go to:

Main Menu–> Info –> Version –> Upgrade

The unit will now begin upgrading to the latest Firmware Revision that is available for your device. Once completed the system will reboot. After the reboot we recommend doing the following:

1) Remove the USB Drive from your system.

User Account Locked

Your system will lock itself out when you or someone else has attempted to log into your DVR

with an incorrect user/password combination more than three times within 30 minutes

When this happens you have two options.

1. Wait 30 minutes after the last failed login attempt and try again.

2. Reboot the DVR by using the rear toggle switch or by unplugging.

When the unit powers back on try and login with the default username and passwords.

Username: admin

Password: admin

or

Username: 888888

Password: 888888

If neither of these passwords get you into your system you will need to email us at

and request a Master Password. Once we can confirm your

account we will happily be able to provide you with the correct login credentials.

Please have your Order Number or DVR/NVR Model Number when requesting a Master

Password.

*Note: The DVR/NVR Model Number can be found on the Bottom or Side of your system.

IP Camera Harness Repair

If your connector looks like the ones below, moisture has gotten into your RJ45 connector. The number one cause of premature IP camera failure has to do with improper weatherproofing techniques. If caught early enough a simple cotton swab and rubbing alcohol will clean that connector right up! You may need to resort to some heavier duty electrical contact cleaner if the cotton swab method does not work.

If all else fails and the connector is too far gone and cleaning it will not work, you will need to perform a harness repair.

In order to perform the repair you will need:

Start by removing the RJ45 end off of your IP cameras harness. Be sure

.

Strip back the outside insulation to expose the internal cables.

.

Organize the cables to match the pinout of the IP camera. Slide the organized cables into the connector and crimp. All CCTV Security Pros IP cameras will use this pinout.

Connect your Female to Female RJ45 connector to check your work, you should have a functioning IP camera now that its void of all corrision.

Now that the IP camera has been repaired we still need to weatherproof this connection. It is now more vulnerable than ever!

Consider using a weatherproof junction box to make your connections in, or perhaps a weatherproof Female to Female connector.

Remember that different coupling styles exist so make sure that you are informed about how to use the coupler before you start crimping wires.

Troubleshooting Steps 4/8/16 Channel

(Cannot Find the Network Host)

To solve the error, please verify that the camera is properly plugged into the back of the system. If you unplug and re-plug it back in this should verify it is connected physically.

If the issue continues go to Main Menu > Camera > Camera List and delete the camera with the red status from the bottom list and do a Device Search to verify the camera is showing up on the top list.

If the camera does not show up this means the cable is not connecting properly, which could either mean the camera is not getting power or isn’t transmitting data. The best way to determine whether it is an issue with the Camera or Cable is to bench test the camera on a known working cable.

If it does show up but it has a different IP Address, please confirm the IP Address is in the 10.1.1.1-255 range (This is the default range of the internal Switch).

If the camera is not within the correct IP range, then the camera could need to be modified on the top list to properly connect in which you would select the camera, hit modify, type in the camera’s username and password and set the IP address to DHCP to automatically obtain an IP or statically assign the camera an IP address to match your switch range and gateway.

If the camera is on the correct range, you should be able to add it to the bottom list and it will come up with Green or Red, If Red double check the error message on the live view on the system.

If the Error says Invalid Username or Password, go back to Settings > Camera > Camera List and modify the camera at the bottom of the list and type in the correct login information.

If the error says Cannot Find the Network Host, check the IP Address is in the correct range, if it is you need to verify your cable is good by testing the camera with another known good cable or testing on a short patch cable as the cable could be experiencing packet loss.

Make sure the cable is T568B Standard and is within 100 meters (328 feet.)

Night Vision Issues

When a camera goes into night vision mode, the infrared LEDs around the lens turn on. If the video signal at nighttime or in dark locations is washed out, foggy or you see “halos” on the screen it is because the infrared LEDs are reflecting back into the camera lens.

Adding 3rd Party Cameras to Blue Line NVR

We always recommend using Blue Line IP cameras with our Blue Line NVRs for the easiest and most complete experience possible. However, we understand that using 3rd Party Cameras can be beneficial in some applications. This guide will explain the basics of adding a 3rd Party IP camera into your Blue Line NVR.

Information you will need to add 3rd Party Cameras.

With your camera attached to one of the PoE ports on your NVR, you’ll navigate to the camera settings from the main menu.

A 3rd Party Camera normally will not add itself, so you will need to go into the Camera List and click on Search Device. If the camera is detected, you will be able to select it and click on the Modify IP button toward the middle of the screen.

When modifying the IP address of the camera the default IP range for the PoE ports on the NVR is

10.1.1.xxx so you’ll want to make sure the camera is on the same range.

You will need to know the camera’s password to change the IP Address. Once the IP is successfully changed it should update after clicking Search Device again

Check the box to the left of the camera and click Add. Most cameras will show up with the Manufacturer as ONVIF. If they do not and show up as red, you will need to click on the edit button on the camera and change the Manufacturer to match the camera’s manufacturer, or to ONVIF if the manufacturer of the camera is not listed.

While in the modify window you can also enter the password for the camera in the password field. Once that is completed you can click OK. After a few seconds the status should change to a green icon and then you should be able to see the camera’s live view. Please keep in mind that if the Error Message says Invalid Username or Password you may need to login to the camera from the Web and setup an Onvif User for the system to login with.

If the camera is still showing offline, setting the manufacturer to PELCO can sometimes resolve the issue.

Additional 3rd Party Camera Information

DVR/NVR Rebooting

If your DVR or NVR is rebooting by itself please read the guide below.

If your DVR or NVR is rebooting once a week this is completely normal. Our DVR and NVR systems are designed to reboot once a week (Tuesday at 2AM by default).

If your DVR or NVR is rebooting more frequently you first want to check the power source of the DVR or NVR.

Be sure you are using the correct Power Source that was included with the DVR or NVR. Below are the correct power adapter specs so you can identify the correct one.

NVRCUBE = 12V, 2.0Amp NVRWIFI = 12V, 2.0Amp

LITE Series DVR = 12V, 2.0Amp

Pro Series DVR = 12V, 5.0Amp

Pro Series NVR = 3 Prong Power Cord to Power Outlet Extreme Series DVR/NVR = 3 Prong Power Cord to Power Outlet

If you can confirm you are using the correct Power Adapter you may need to double check the outlet you are plugged into. Try an alternate outlet and eliminate any Battery Backup Power Supplies for test purposes.

If the power source is not causing the reboot cycle it could be related to the internal hard drive. To check this out please continue reading.

First you will need to Power Off the DVR. We suggest powering the system down from the Power Switch on the rear of the system or by simply unplugging the Power Cable.

Once the system has been powered down you will need to open up the system. Please see below to locate the screws that need to be removed.

NVRCUBE or NVRWIFI

There will be 4 Phillips head screws located on the bottom of the system. Once the screws are removed the top cover will lift off.

Lite Series DVR

There are 2 Phillips head screws located in the rear and 2 on the side of the DVR, 1 on each side. Once the screws are removed the top cover will lift off.

Pro Series DVR/NVR

There will be 4 Phillips head screws located on the rear of the system. Once the screws are removed the top cover will slide towards the rear and lift off.

Extreme Series DVR/NVR

There will be 2 Phillips head screws located on the rear of the system. Once the screws are removed the top cover will slide towards the rear and lift off.

Once the top cover has been removed it will expose the Hard Drive and its connections.

First we want to Unplug the Large Black Connector. Press down on the metal tab and pull the connector out of the Hard Drive.

Now we want to unplug the second smaller connector (Blue Cable) from both ends. Press down on the tab and remove from the Hard Drive as well as the System Board.

Once the connections have been disconnected. Plug them back in securely and listen for the metal tab to click. This will ensure a good connection in between the System Board and Hard Drive.

Note*

While you still have the system open, it might be a good idea to check the cooling fans for any dust or debris that could be stopping the fan from moving. This could cause the DVR or NVR to overheat.

Once the connections are tight, lets put the top cover back on. When the cover is back on you can proceed to power on the system. Once the system is powered on you will need to monitor the system and check if it is still rebooting.

Disconnecting The Internet

If the system is still rebooting you may want to disconnect it from your Router or Modem by unplugging the Ethernet cable in the rear. You will loose your remote viewing capabilities temporarily while unplugged but can help us diagnose the issue.

With the cable unplugged you may want to monitor the system closely to see if this has made any changes to the rebooting issue.

Disconnecting Cameras and Other Sources

Disconnecting cameras, alarms, extra monitors and microphones is the last thing we can try to solve your rebooting issues.

Cameras, monitors, and microphones mounted near high voltage could be causing your system to reboot by itself. If your system detects any incoming voltage or amperage coming into the rear inputs the system will shut down to protect itself from damage.

Leave your main Display Monitor and Power Source connected. Disconnect one input at a time to see if it makes a change in your reboot cycle. If you notice a change in the rebooting you can single it out by using this method of elimination.

6.APP Share Device

APP Share Device

One device is linked to one user only. The NVR system can only be controlled by one authorized account, which can share the device with others to prevent attack or hacking.

There are 2 ways to share the device with others. For the admin user, please follow the instructions to share the device:

1.Type in “Menu Icon ” and navigate to “Devices”

2. Tape on “… ” > “Share”, You can select a single channel to share or select the entire NVR system to share

3.Share the device by typing in the user name you want to share and selecting the function as needed.

• The other user needs to register a Guard Viewer APP account and provide the user name for sharing.

• After that, when this user login the APP will find the device by navigating to “Devices”.

4.Share the device by generating a QR code

• Create a sharing password and set the valid period

• Click “Generate”, your APP will generate a QR code

• Other users can use the APP to add the device by scanning the QR code you sent

Four cameras or above not working is an abnormal situation. It’s not only a camera issue, which could be related to a power supply or power splitter connected to four cameras

If the power supply or power splitter connected to four cameras is broken, which can’t provide power supply to cameras

Step:

(1）Change to another 12V 2A Power Supply to connect to four cameras to have a try. We wanna make sure if this is related to the power adapter

(2) Change another 1-4 way power splitter to connect four cameras to have a try. We wanna make sure if this is related to the power adapter

( If you do not have another power adapter/splitter, plz use the other power adapter connected to the four normal cameras)

After making sure the power supply or power splitter is doing fine, but still no camera image, which means the DVR box is having issue

This article will go over the Initialization process of the units with the New GUI.

1. When you first turn on the recorder you will be greeted with the region settings. Click on the drop down menu and select “United States” and click Next.

2. Select the proper time zone setting for your region.

3. You will now be prompted to input a password for the admin account.

4. For easier login you can create a pattern, you will need to enter it twice to confirm.

5. Enter your email in order to reset the admin password in case the password was forgotten, you may also setup security questions.

Note: This is the only method to reset the password for XVRs and NVRs. If you skip this step and forget your device’s password, you will need to replace the unit

6. The Auto-check for firmware is not yet implemented in the U.S. so you can just click on next.

7. Make sure the video standard format is set to NTSC and click on “Next”.

8. Here you can go in depth with the time settings. You may want to set up the DST (Daylight savings) so that it takes affect when the time comes.

9. The recorder will be set as a static default IP address you see on the screen. Input an open local IP address and gateway from you network. If you don’t know this information you can select DHCP (highlighted in the red box) in order to automatically receive an IP address from the router.

10. If you have the recorder properly connected to the router the P2P status will indicate “Online” and you can now remote in to the unit with our mobile app/PC app.

11. You can select the Encode settings for each camera by selecting the drop down menu on “Channel”.

12. Select the resolution and image quality for snapshots.

13. Select what you want to to when the hard drive fills up.

14. Here is you recording schedule, the green will indicate 24/7 recording and Yellow will be Motion recording.

This first method is extremely simple if all the cameras are still set to default credentials and settings. We will do a device search on the network and add them with a click of a button

Dahua NVRs and DVRs offer a variety of recording options. You can configure recording schedules based on the following methods:

1. From the Main Menu select “Management”.

2. Select the “Storage” option from the drop-down menu.

3. From the left hand side, select “Schedule”.

4. Select the channel drop-down menu to choose the channel that you want to adjust the recording schedule for.

5. Select “Setting” next to any day of the week.

6. You will have options to set a schedule for General Recording, MD (Motion Detection), Alarm, MD & Alarm, Intel, and POS (Point of Sale). For this tutorial we are using General Recording.

7. Here you can see that you are able to set multiple periods. For this tutorial we will only be setting one period. Check the “General” box, then select the day or days you want to scheduled recordings for, and then select “Save”.

8. Depending on the days selected from the previous step, you will see green colored bars which represents general recording.

9. You can select “Copy” to mirror the same schedule to another channel/camera. Select “Save” in the Copy menu.

10. Select “Save” at the bottom to save all settings. If your changes were successfully saved, a pop-up will appear at the top notifying you as such.

1. On the main menu select Alarm

2. Select Video Detection on the left.
Then select the Motion Detection tab at the top.
Choose the channel from the drop-down next to Channel.
Check the box next to Enable.
Check the box next to Record Channel.
Click on Setting next to Region

3. Highlight the areas in red where you want to track motion.
Then click OK at the bottom

4. Select More at the bottom
Check the boxes next to any of the other options you want to activate when motion is detected.
Click on OK

5. Click on Apply at the bottom.
You will see “Operation Succeeded” at the top when your changes have been saved

6. Click on the Setting drop-down at the top and select Storage

7. Select Schedule on the left.
Then select the Record tab at the top.
Choose the channel from the drop-down next to Channel.
Click on the Setting button next to any day of the week.

8. Check the All box to enable all days of the week.
Check the Motion box for “Period 1”.
Click OK at the bottom.

9. Click on Apply at the bottom to save the settings

10. Select Record Mode on the left.
Then make sure Auto is enabled for the appropriate channel(s).

Setup Alarm Input

From main menu, click on Alarm. Click on Alarm input. We are using XVR 72 series for this example. The Alarm Input page will launch as shown below:

Select the Alarm input number that you like to use. This number is correspond to the alarm port on the back of recorder.

1. Click Enable to enable the alarm input.

2. Enter Alarm Name. By default is set to AlarmIn#

3. Period is to schedule your Alarm when you want to be enable.

4. With the alarm input, you can trigger recorder’s alarm output.

5. This to select which channel you want recorder to start recording when alarm is triggered.

6. You can call basic PTZ action Preset, Tour, or Pattern when alarm is triggered.

Setup Alarm Recording Schedule

1. From the main menu, click on Management > Storage > Schedule.

2. Select the channel you like to setup.

3. To enable Alarm recording, Click on Setting next to the timeline bar.

4. Set your duration (By default is 24 hour, 00-24). Then select Alarm.

You can select all days to copy the schedule to all week. Click Save.

5. Click Save.

Double-click on the rule type under the Type column to choose the type of IVS rule you want to use.

4. Draw the rule in the live view on the left by left clicking on it.
Continue to left click to add more segments.
When you are done, right click to finish drawing the rule.

Then select the Record tab at the top.
Choose the channel of the camera from the Channel drop-down.
Then click on Setting to the right of any day of the week

7. Check the box next to All to select all days of the week.

(Feel free to adjust the days of the week and the time period for when you want to record IVS events).
Then click on OK

8. You will see blue bars on the schedule representing when IVS events will be recorded, when they are triggered.
Click Apply at the bottom

9. Click on the Menu icon at the top right to go back to the Main Menu.
Then click on Search

10. Check the box next to the camera channel on the right.
Once IVS events have occured they will appear as blue bars on the timeline at the bottom.

Hard Drive Installation

IMPORTANTTo record videos and play the historical videos, the installation of the Hard Disk Drive is a must.
Otherwise,you can only watch the live video.
This DVR system works with a 3.5” SATA Hard Drive.The Hard Drive should be formatted after it’s installed.×Dismiss this alert.

System Connections

1.Plug a power adapter into the DVR and the socket to power on the DVR.

2. Connect a monitor to the HD Output or VGA Output on the DVR with an HDMI cable or VGA cable (not included).

3. Connect the Ethernet Cable with the DVR and your router.

4. Connect the AHD camera with the BNC Cable.

5. Connect the Yellow Video Connector to the BNC Video Input on the DVR, and connect the Red Power Connector to the Male Connector of the Power Cable Splitter.

6. Connect the Female Connector of the Power Cable Splitter with another power adapter. Then plug the power adapter into the socket to power on the camera.

Operate dvr system with a monitor

Startup Wizard

After connecting the DVR and cameras to power, wait for 2-3 minutes. A Startup Wizard will start to guide you via a series of pop-up windows.

Connect the USB mouse to the DVR, then click Next until you see the window of Time-Language Configuration.

1.Select the time zone, date format, time format, language, and set the time for your DVR system.

2. The default password is empty, please reset it for your DVR following the tip.
The new password should be more than 6 digits and use the combination of numbers and letters to ensure your system’s security.

3. Select safety questions and enter the answers for resetting the password if necessary.
You can also enter your email address for getting the verification code to reset the password.

4. Check if the network connection status is normal. If not, you can configure it by clicking Network.

5. Scan the QR code to get the Serial Number of your DVR system and download the App named XMEye into your mobile device.

6. Before fixing the cameras, you can log in to XMEye App to check the live view to confirm the ideal position.

7. Detection based on human shape is enabled by default.
The DVR system will send alerts to your mobile device when there is human shape detected by the cameras.
Please refer to the section of Motion Detect the detailed setting.

IMPORTANTClick Next and OK to exit the wizard. You can right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Startup Wizard to bring it up again.
If the wizard is no longer needed, just check the box before Don’t Display the Wizard again on the first interface of the Startup Wizard.×Dismiss this alert.

Live Video

You will see the live videos from the AHD cameras in split-screen mode (9 screens by default) after exiting the wizard.

※ Move the mouse cursor to the live video of any channel, some icons may be displayed according to the setting.

Notes:

1.The icons of and are displayed by default, while for icon , and , please right click andgo to Main Menu > Alarm (see on page 15) to enable them.

2. If you want to loop to display the live videos from some certain channels in full-screen mode, please go to Main Menu > System > Tour to enable this function.

3. For viewing the live video from one channel in full-screen mode, please move the mouse cursor to the desired channel, then double click. To exit full-screen mode, double click again.

Hard Drive Formatting

When you receive the system, the system has a pre installed hard disk, which does not need to be formatted,but if you have to replace another hard disk, it needs to be formatted at first ,then it can be used normally Install the Hard Drive first, then right click and go to Main Menu >Advanced > Storage to check if the type is Read/Write or the status is Normal.

If not, please click Format Storage to start formatting your Hard Disk Drive.

Video Recording

Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Record > Record Conf. to set the record mode and record plan.
This DVR is set to record videos 24 hours a day by default.

Channel:

Select the channel to set the record mode and plan. You can select a single channel or all channels.

Redundancy:

Installing 2 pieces of Hard Disk Drive is required when enabling this function, and HM245 doesn’t support it.

Length:

Set the maximum video length of each recording from 1 minute to 120 minutes. It’s 60 minutes by default.

PreRec:

The camera will start recording a video around 5s before it detects the motion or human shape.

You can reset the time from 1s to 30s, but the accuracy of the pre-recording time may be affected by the bitrate.

Mode:

Set the recording mode and the options are Schedule, Manual and Stop.

Record Plan:

Set the recording schedules.

Notes:

The oldest video will be overwritten by the latest one by default when the Hard Disk Drive runs out

of space.

Video Playback

Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu > Record > Playback to play the video recorded.

You will see the different playback modes in the pop-up window of Play Mode.

Left click on the live video of one channel, show the filtered video list, then double click on the selected video to play it.

Description of Playback Buttons

Left click on the live video of any channel, then start using the buttons to control the video playback.

Tips:

① You can click the icon to cut a video, then click to back up to the external storage.

② Previous Frame and Next Frame work only when pausing the video.

③ The speed of Fast Reverse and Fast Forward will be displayed on the right end of Playback Buttons.

2. Sync Playback

This function aims to put the videos from different channels at the same time to compare.

Select 2 channels at least ( up to 4 channels), a period and a date on Blue background to play the historical videos simultaneously at the selected time on the same timeline.

3. Dayparting

This function aims to put the videos from the same channel but at different time to compare.

Select a channel, number of split screens, and a period to play the videos recorded from this channel on different timelines.

NotesYou need to press and hold the left mouse and move on the bar of Period to select time period.×Dismiss this alert.

4. Smart Express

Select one channel or all channels, then select the speed of Fast Playback, the system will play all the videos recorded with the speed you selected.

5. Smart Search

Select one channel and a time period, then check the box before Detect and select a date on Blue background to play the videos recorded when the camera detected the motion or human shape.

※Double click the thumbnail to play the related videos.

6. Face Search

Select one channel, a time period and a date on Blue background to play the videos recorded when the camera detected faces.

Video Backup

Step 1:

Insert the USB disk into the USB port of the DVR system. Right click on the screen, then go to Main Menu >Record > Backup to start.

Step 2:

Select your USB disk, then click Backup to bring up a pop-up window.

Step 3:

Select Channel, Start Time and End Time, then click Add to display all the filtered videos.

Step 4:

Check the box to select the video files and Backup format, then click Start to back up the videos.

Tips:

① The format of the USB Drive should be FAT 32.

② An alternative solution to back up the videos is listed below.

• Go to the interface of video playback and click to show the filtered video list.

• Check the box to select the videos.

• Click to start backing up. The next steps are the same as the first solution mentioned above.

Snapshot Setup

The system will capture the snapshots 24 hours a day when the camera detects motion or human shape.

Go to Main Menu > system> SnapShot Conf. to reset the time interval of capturing a snapshot, and set up the schedules when the camera will capture a snapshot as well.

Alarm

IMPORTANT:

The alarms of Motion Detect and Human Detect are enabled by default. If you need to record videos whenthe camera detects the face or gets blocked as well, please enable Face Detection and Video Blind.

Please go to Main Menu > Alarm to set the alarm you need.

Motion Detect

The camera will start to record videos when it detects motion.

Channel:

Select the channel you’d like to enable motion detection.

Enable:

Check the box to enable motion detection.

Sensitivity:

If you select higher sensitivity, the camera will be more easily to be triggered to start recording videos. It’s advised to select Middle to balance the accuracy and effectiveness of the alarm, thus reducing the false alarms.

Region:

Click Set, then press and hold the left mouse to drag and select the area for detecting. The pink area indicates the selected area.

Period:

Set up to 4 time periods for each day to send the alerts when the camera detects motion.

MD Interval:

Set the time interval of two alerts. It aims to decrease the frequency of the alerts caused by the same moving object.

Record Channel:

The selected channel(s) will start recording when the current channel detects motion.

Tour:

The display will loop to display the live video from the selected channel(s) in full-screen mode when the current channel detects motion. You can go to Main Menu > System > Tour to set the time interval to show the live video in full-screen mode.

Snapshot:

The selected channel(s) will capture a picture when the current channel detects motion.

PTZ Activation:

The cameras don’t support this function.

PostRec:

The camera will remain to record the video around 10s after the motion or human shape detection ends. You can reset the time from 10s to 300s.

Show Message:

After enabling this function, the display will pop up a window to show the Alarm Status for all kinds of alarms when the cameras detect motion, human shape, or more.

Send Email:

Before enabling this function, please go to Main Menu > System > NetService, then double click on EMAIL option to set up your email address to receive the alerts.

Write Log:

The logs of the alerts will be written into the system once you enable this function. You can go to Main Menu > Info > Log to check the detailed log information.

FTP upload:

The system will send the videos recorded or snapshots captured to the FTP server you set when the camera detects motion. Please go to Main Menu > System > NetService, then double click on FTP option to set up your FTP server.

Mobile reported:

The system will send alerts to your mobile device when the camera detects motion. Please install the App and add the DVR to the App following the section of OPERATE DVR SYSTEM ON MOBILE DEVICE on page 18.

Up-to-Coaxial Control

Right click on the main menu and select XVI control to start setting up your camera.

※If the live video from the camera is mirrored or flipped, you can check the box before Mirroring or Overturn to fix it.

※If you set something wrong, please click Restore to get back to default settings.

NotesFor the setting of alarms like Video Blind, Video Loss, Human Detect and Face detection, please refer to the settings of Motion Detect. If prompting Video Loss, the DVR will not record videos, but only to send alarms.

How Should I Do If I Forget My Password?

• Please click Forgot Password when logging into the DVR system.

• The system will ask you the security questions you set in the Startup Wizard, please enter the right answer to reset your password.

• If you forget the answers, click Forget Answers to enter the interface of Verification Code.

• Launch XMEye App,tap > FIND PWD on an Android device or tap Forgot your device password?(on the interface of Add Device) > FIND PWD on an iOS device to scan the QR code on the left side to get a verification code, then enter it into the box on the interface of Verification Code to reset your password. However, if you set an email to get the verification code in Startup Wizard, the App will send the code to that email. You need to get it from email, then enter it on the interface of Verification Code.

How Long Can A Hard Disk Drive Record For This DVR System?

There are 4 AHD cameras connecting to this DVR system by default. These cameras are with the resolution of 1080P and variable bitrate which depends on the surveillance scenes. If the bitrate is around 2Mb/s, the corresponding size of the video file will be around 21G per day.

As a result, a Hard Disk Drive with the capacity of 1T may record around 12 days.

How Can I Connect An Extra Camera With The DVR System In Addition To The 4 Cameras In The Package?

DVR system supports up to 8 cameras to be connected. Please contact Hiseeu to get the same type of cameras and the corresponding cables.

If you just have a camera in hand, please follow the steps below:

For the camera with the format of TVI/CVI/SVI/CVBS, right click on the screen, select XVI&AHD to set the Signal of the channel to Auto or the corresponding format of your camera, then connect the camera with the DVR system.

For an IP camera, please go to Main Menu > System > Digital > ChannelType to check the box of the fourth line, then go back to the main screen and move the cursor to the channel you’d like

to connect the camera.

Click in the center of the screen to start adding the camera.

This DVR system can support to send you alerts when the camera detects motion, human, face, video feed loss,or the camera gets blocked. You can go to Main Menu > Alarm to disable certain kinds of alarms to reduce alerts.What’s more, you can lower the Sensitivity, set the Region and Period to reduce alerts.

How Can I Modify The Time Stamp And Channel Name Displayed On The Screen When Playing The Videos Recorded?

You can go to Main Menu > System > Display to select the channel you’d like to set, then enable Time Display and Channel Title, then click Set. You can even drag them to your desired position on the screen.

Can I add cameras over the network?

Yes, you can add cameras over the network, they do not have to always be connected directly to the NVR. You can use a switch on the network that connected to the same router as your NVR. Please follow these steps to set this up:

Log into the NVR and go to Camera>Camera Management, click on Manual Add, and enter the IP information for the camera. Use the default username: admin password: 123456

Can I connect all the cameras to a switch, then the switch to one of the NVR ports?

No, unfortunately each port on the back of the NVR is only designed for 1 camera. This will only allow about 2 cameras to show up. To use a switch, you’ll have to connect the switch to the same router that the NVR is connected to. Then you’ll proceed to setup the cameras over the network. Please see the Adding cameras over the network FAQ.

Can I use my PC to view my cameras remotely?

Yes, you can use your external IP address to view your cameras and manipulate configuration via Web Browser. Our plug in will only work on Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Once one of those browsers are open, type in your external IP address in the URL bar. If the port forwarding is done correctly, it should bring you to your NVR log in page. Log in using the same credentials as you would directly on the system. After you’re logged in, click the link to download and install the plug in. Restart the browser and click the “All Main” button on the left-hand side, and it should bring up your camera streams.

Can I use port forwarding to setup remote viewing for my NVR?

Yes, you can setup your system via port forwarding. Although, this setup is recommended for more advanced users. You will need to note the IP Address of the NVR/DVR. To obtain this, go to Main Menu>Maintenance>System Info>Network, your IP address will be the IPv4 address at the top. Then you’ll need to log into your router via web browser on a PC. Once logged in, you’ll need to add ports 80, 8000, and 554 to the port forwarding rules. For help with port forwarding for your router, contact the manufacturer or your ISP. The port forwarding setup should look something like this:

How Do I find my system’s IP address?

To find your system’s IP address go to Main Menu>Configuration>Network. The IP Address at the top is your local IP. If your IP address is 0.0.0.0 or 192.0.0.64, this means your system is offline. There are a few causes from this, but usually it’s a bad ethernet cable or the cable is not plugged in properly to either the NVR or Router. If those are checked to be correct, try restarting your router by unplugging it for a minute and restarting the DVR.

Do I Need Internet to Activate My Wireless Security Camera System?

Not exactly. You can set up your wireless security camera system without any internet at all, as this is not a requirement to begin recording. In order to access remote viewing on your mobile devices, you will need a live internet connection.

What are the Advantages of Installing a Wifi Security Camera System?

A wifi security camera system is significantly easier to install than a traditional system, because there is no need to run special wires to each wifi camera. This not only helps the day of installation, but also allows clients to position cameras in places they might not otherwise be able to place them.

How Do I format my HDD?

To format your HDD you’ll need to go to the Main Menu>System>Storage>Management Tab. Once in the HDD menu, highlight the HDD information. Then click on “Format” at the bottom. Please note this will delete all information off the HDD.

How do I playback my recordings?

To playback videos go to Main Menu>Playback. In that section choose your camera(s) on the right-hand side. Then double click any of the days on the calendar. This should automatically start playback for that day. Use the bar at the bottom to jump to a specific time during that day.

How Do I set up my recording schedule?

To set the recording schedule you’ll need to go to Main Menu>Configuration>Schedule>Record Plan. In that section, you’ll have access to each channel’s recording schedule. The camera’s will automatically start and stop, recording, at desired times. If you want to set up only motion recording to each camera, select “Setting” on the right-hand side for the desired day. Choose MD for Motion Detection for the day and set a desired time, if not all day. Then you can copy the schedule to other days at the bottom. Click apply then ok, then apply again. You can now click copy at the bottom and copy the schedule to other channels as well. Or choose another channel at the top to setup a different schedule.

How Do I upgrade my system’s Firmware?

Once the file is downloaded, extract the file and place it onto a flash drive. Then connect the flash drive to a USB port on the NVR.
Please go to Main Menu>System>Maintenance>Version and select upgrade. Choose your Firmware file from the list.

How to I download videos off my NVR?

To download video footage you’ll need a flash drive inserted into one of the USB ports on the system. Then go to Main Menu>Backup. Once in the Backup page, you’ll need to select the USB device from the list. Then click on “Backup” at the bottom and you’ll have the file selector screen show up. Make sure AVI is checked, then proceed to backup. You can select a specific channel along with date and time you want to backup. Click on Add, then the list should update. Each file will have a start and end time. Check mark the files desired for back up and click backup at the bottom. Once the progress bar finishes, you now have the files on your USB drive.

I forgot the password for my system, how do I reset it?

In the email please mention you need a password reset along with the model number and date that displays on the main view of the system. A technician will reply with some instructions and a temporary password for your system.

I have port forwarding setup, but my external IP address keeps changing. Can I fix this?

Yes, you can either contact your ISP and ask them for a static IP address or setup a DDNS. LaView does offer a free DDNS service that you can setup with these instructions:

I have some trees in my yard that are triggering my motion detection. How can I fix this?

You can setup areas for your motion recording within the camera’s configuration. Go to Main Menu>Configuration>Alarm>Set Area “Setting”. In that section, you’ll have a preview of one of the camera along with a red grid over it. You can clear the area and only draw specific areas with motion detection. Or you can just remove the areas by clicking and dragging over the red boxes. Everything in red will trigger motion, anything clear will not.

The system worked seamlessly until last week when it suddenly shut off and now won’t come back on

How to connect a LaView Saturn Series IP Camera to a Non-Saturn Series NVR

5a. If you are connecting the camera to the NVR PoE port, set up the Target IP to 192.168.254.xxx (xxx being a random number from 2-254), and Gateway to  192.168.254.1, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. Then unplug the camera from the PoE switch or Router and connect it to the NVR using Cat5e cable.

5b. If you are connecting the camera via LAN, use DHCP or set up the IP address to your network range. For example: Target IP 192.168.0.217, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1

6. Go the NVR Menu => Camera => Camera.

7. Click on the channel which the camera is connected to (ie if the camera is connected to port 3 on the back of the NVR, click on channel 3). If you are connecting the camera via LAN, Click on any unused channel.

8. Change ‘Plug and Play’ to ‘Manual’ and enter the camera IP address (192.168.254.xxx or 192.168.0.217 as in previous example)

NVR is short for Network Video Recorder, a device which acts as a hub for an IP-based security camera system. It is a storage and review point for your CCTV which means you don’t need to sign up to remote service to store your video.

That means, of course, it’ll need cameras, typically connected by power-over-ethernet (PoE) cables (see our guide to the best PoE cameras), and a storage medium like a hard drive.

Retailers often package the same NVR in several different bundles, mixing up the types and numbers of cameras and hard drives, or simply leaving this all to you. There are real bargains to be had with some of these all-in-one kits, and the only real downside is some spectacularly confusing product names.

An NVR, incidentally, is not quite the same thing as a DVR (or Digital Video Recorder), which appeared in the late 90s. They look similar and store video too, but a DVR is built to accept and digitally compress analogue or digital video via coax sockets; an NVR expects a digital input.

The advantage of an NVR-based security system is that, because the video is being compressed by the cameras, local processing power is available for AI functions like detecting movement. This, in turn, means you don’t need to dig into your wallet for a subscription service; both storage and AI analysis are provided by a device you own rather than a service you lease. 

Given that subscription services usually only store the clips their AI identifies as significant, having your own NVR may give you the power to review every moment yourself rather than being dependent on an algorithm to parse the events your camera sees. All the advantages of networking like remote access and – of course – the ability to work with all IP cameras, wired or wireless, remain.

We look at some of the key features in detail at the end, but something else to remember if you’re in the USA is the China trade war; major security player HikVision have already fallen victim to US internal bans on new products and may end up on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list. 

Key features to look out for are remote access, PoE (Power over Ethernet), which can simplify wiring, hard drive capacity (indeed if any drives are included at all), the resolution limit, the number of channels or cameras it can handle, and if there are any means of backup. Remember that a 4K camera uses more data throughput than a 1080P one, so an NVR can handle fewer of them – this is where the compression method (e.g. H.264 or H.265) can make a big difference.

Best DVR for multi-brand compatibility

While not everyone will need the 320Mbps throughput, if you’re looking for a powerful NVR which affords some flexibility when it comes to choosing your cameras (and don’t mind paying for that) then the Amcrest 5 Series seems to have that in the bag. Eight of the sixteen Ethernet sockets are PoE, likely enough for most customers though it seems a shame they weren’t all enabled.

We certainly can’t complain about the level of effort which seems to have gone into usability in what is not always the most user-friendly product category; a great example is the QR codes to bring up quick remote viewing via the Amcrest View app.

The device is certainly not the cheapest on this list, given the list price doesn’t’ include a hard drive and you’ll need at least one – likely two unless you opt for the motion detection mode. It does, however, offer some of the features of subscription services via the app and web features, as well as the advantages of a hardwired device; not to be sniffed at.

Swann has always built innovative systems, and this is no exception. Adopting an elegant upright design, the NVR PowerHub is the basis of several new Swann packs including the AllSecure650. We like this system not only because of the elegant design, but because it offers so many options in a small package. It also, brilliantly, turns the main annoyance of battery camera systems to its advantage; an extra battery is included (total of 3 for a 2 camera bundle).

Despite having only one SATA bay, the Reolink system makes a lot of room for storage by adding an eSATA socket at the back. The system is also typically bundled with its preferred Reolink 4K cameras which provide stand-out sharp footage which is easy to review thanks to the fresh modern interface. Reolink also offer a great variety of cameras and a doorbell.

Built-in operating systems can be a tad clunky, but connect the supplied mouse to the NVR and the Reolink interface, whether on 4K TV or VGA screen, is a bit clearer. The 24/7 recording is accompanied by a timeline which highlights events (people or vehicles) and can be filtered as you browse. The in-built OS isn’t beautiful, but actually very smart; you can choose to disable motion detection by zone on each camera view and, even as you refine the detection, you see a handy live view of where the algorithm is spotting action. What shines out with the Swann system is the more advanced facial recognition tools which put person/vehicle recognition in the shade. Yes, generalized person or vehicle alerts are still very useful, but Swann allows the known faces can be named. That makes specific alerts possible if, say, one of the kids gets near the treats. That is the kind of benefit consumer smart cameras offer, built on with integrations with Alexa and Google Assistant, but without the cost of a subscription.

This elegant-looking NVR actually has the same sockets as most other 4K 8-channel systems from the back, but is chic enough to sit comfortably under a living room TV. There the central panic button, which triggers all lights & sirens built into connected cameras, could end a home invasion.

The main Lorex NVR software also allows you to set up effective deterrence rules using person and vehicle detection and features area search for easier review.

As well as dedicated NVRs, Synology are synonymous (sorry!) with all sizes of data storage devices. While many entrust their data – especially with limited amounts of it – to the cloud, there are many reasons to have a physical backup system. Hot-swappable drives mean every piece of information can be backed up within the device, and a network connection means it is available via your home network, or remotely.

Since the machine is essentially a small computer, it can run apps on its own OS, from Mail Server to (more relevant here) Synology Surveillance Station. This lets you use some of your overall drive space to store video from your connected security cameras.

10. CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4

For those who want to make security a hobby experience

Make no mistake, this is not the same approach as the other products on this list. This isn’t a ready-made box with all the necessary PoE sockets to connect a series of cameras to but, since an NVR is essentially just a computer in different clothes, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the enthusiast community is continuously refining software to power NVRs.

If you feel motivated to build your own, why not start with a Raspberry Pi 4? Unless you’re only using USB cameras, you’ll also need a PoE Ethernet Switch (like the BV-Tech) and certainly some kind of storage (it’s unlikely the microSD card slot in the Pi will cut it for long, but many folk already have a spare external hard drive lying around). From there it’s simply a matter of choosing an OS and a piece of software; Shinobi is available for free and supports ARM architecture, as does ZoneMinder, so there are two good starting points.

If you need a more powerful NVR – with greater camera capacity – than the NV4108E above, then Amcrest have you covered; the 4216E-AI supports up to two 8GB drives inside and has 16 PoE ports for cameras on the back, all capable of 4K resolution. The system is happy with H.265 and H.264 and has a high-speed throughput of 200Mbps, dropping to 80Mbps when the on-board AI functions are active. This sacrifice buys you human and vehicle detection (and search in recordings), offering functionality to compete with the subscription services from Google Nest and Amazon Ring among others. Amcrest’s App is similar in scope. The machine even has microphone sockets for two-way-talk from the NVR.

Wi-Fi NVR which can keep your CCTV separate from home network

If you’d like to install a CCTV system with some of the advantages of your own NVR, but aren’t interested in undertaking the cabling, then the WNQ28 seems a rational choice. It eschews the PoE network switching components in favor of two antenna to create its own wi-fi network which you can connect cameras and viewing devices to. xmartO also include their “G3 Auto WiFi Relay” feature which can use cameras to extend the network.

With or without this, the advantage of this device is that it keeps CCTV cameras on a different frequency from your home’s potentially already heavily taxed wi-fi (an issue many of us are starting to notice as high-speed broadband becomes more common). On the down-side it offers a fairly generic Linux-based OS and doesn’t have high bandwidth, while it definitely prefers xmartO cameras. Nevertheless it definitely helps keep things separate when building your network, so we can see some DIY fans strongly preferring this.

How to reset the password to your Gamut recorder

This article will show you how to find the necessary information you need to send us so that we can help to reset the password for your Gamut recorder.

First, turn the recorder on and move your mouse to the bottom of the camera live view screen. A blue bar will appear at the bottom; click on the ‘i’ symbol that I have marked in red in the screenshot below.

This will open up a page of information about the recorder including the MAC address.

You will need to send the MAC address and the date and time on the recorder, even if the time/date on the recorder is not actually correct.

This is very important, because we will generate a temporary password for you which is created based on the unique MAC address of the device and the time and date on it. If the date and time are accurate, just say that, or if you know it is five hours behind but the date is correct for example, just mention that when you email in and that should be sufficient.

Otherwise, just send in a picture clearly showing the MAC address and date/time on the device and say exactly when the picture was taken.

How to set up and view your Gamut PTZ on a Windows or Apple computer (GTIP210PTZ)

Purpose of The Guide

This guide will walk you through the initial configuration of your Gamut PTZ and show you how to view the camera on your computer.

Before You Begin

Let’s Get Started

First we need to make sure that the camera is talking to your network. If you look on the box for the camera and on the side of the camera itself you should see a sticker that looks something like the one shown below.

Make a note of the IP Address, User name and any Password shown on the sticker.

Next we need to open Internet Explorer on the computer. In the address bar at the top of the page enter the IP address that you saw on the sticker. You should then be prompted to log in to the camera, here you need to use the User name and Password shown on the sticker, if there is no password on the sticker then leave the password field blank.

Please make sure that you are using Internet Explorer and not any other browser. The reason for this is that most CCTV systems require the use of software called Active X to be able to display your live video and that software is only supported by Internet Explorer.

If you are prompted to install any software you need to allow this to happen, this software enables your computer to display the video feed from the camera.

.

At this point you should be seeing a live view from your camera and can go ahead and fit your camera wherever you need it. To watch your cameras in future you will simply need to open Internet Explorer, go to the IP Address from before and log in to the camera. From there you can also control the motion of the camera by using the PTZ controls shown below. These features are explained more in depth in other guides which can be found here.

If you were unable to access your camera this way then it’s not a problem, we just need to use a different method. Alternatively if you wish to view the system without having to log in through Internet Explorer each time then continue reading and you will see how to view the camera without needing to log in each time.

First open CMS5/VMS, the program that you installed before we began, and click on Device Manager. You will now be presented with a screen that looks like this:

You should see a camera in the list that has the same IP Address as previously seen on the sticker on the camera. If you don’t then click the IPV4 Search button and after a few moments the camera will appear. Select the camera by ticking the box to the left of it and click Add.

The camera will now be displayed in the bottom half of the window. Towards the right hand side you will see a number of buttons, you need to press the Modify IP button as highlighted in the following image.

At this point if you wish to use the camera through Internet Explorer rather than CMS5 you are now able to. Make a note of the new IP address that the camera is displaying and follow the steps detailed near the top of this guide for accessing the camera using Internet Explorer.

Now click the Home button to return to the main page for CMS5/VMS, then click Monitor. On the right hand side you will see your camera in the list of devices. Double click on your camera and the video feed will appear in the middle of the screen. If you then double click on the video if will go in to full screen mode so you can see a larger picture. To then control your camera click the button shown below and the PTZ controls will appear. How to add your Gamut recorder or camera to a mobile phone or tablet

Purpose of The Guide

This guide will show you how to add your Gamut camera or recorder to a phone.

Before You Begin

Your Gamut device will need to be turned on and connected to your internet router. If you have a recorder with a hard drive you will need to use a TV or Internet Explorer to set it up for the first time, follow the quick start guide to do so.

.

If you are using a recorder and cameras, make sure that the cameras are connected and working.

.

If you are using a Wi-Fi bridge system with your camera, make sure that the bridges are turned on, wired correctly and communicating before you begin.

.

You will need to download the app RXCamView onto your phone or tablet.

Let’s Get Started

Open up RXCamView on your device and tap on the head and shoulders icon to open the side menu.

Then tap on ‘Device List’.

.

On the Device Manager page, tap on the ‘+’ icon then tap on ‘IPC/NVR/DVR’.

.

The app will request permission to use your camera, allow it to. It will open up your camera and you need to point the camera to the QR code on the label on your recorder or camera.

.

Once you have successfully scanned the QR code the app will prompt you to fill in some information. Leave the IP/Address and Media Port fields, the username is admin by default, and the password is blank by default.

.

Then the device will appear in the device list, it should say ‘Connected’. If it says ‘connect close’ then check the password is correct and that nothing has been disconnected.

If you tap on the play icon underneath the device, you will be taken to the live view window. Just tap on the name of the device to begin live view.

To view recordings, just tap on the film reel icon at the bottom right below the live view screen:

How to access your Gamut camera or recorder using a Windows or Mac computer

Purpose of The Guide

This guide will show you how to access the live footage, recordings and settings of your Gamut camera or recorder, using a Windows or Mac computer.

Before You Begin

Your Gamut device will need to be turned on and connected to your internet router. You will need to use a TV to set up the recorder for the first time, follow the quick start guide to do so. After the initial setup, a TV or monitor is not necessary when accessing the recorder via a network connection.

If you are using a recorder and cameras, make sure that the cameras are connected and working.

.

If you are using a Wi-Fi bridge system with your camera, make sure that the bridges are turned on, wired correctly and communicating before you begin.

Let’s Get Started

Now that you have connected your recorder/camera to your internet router and turned it on, you will be able to view it using a program called Surveillance Client.

.

First you will need to download some software called Device Config Tool, which will allow you to find out the IP address of the camera/recorder and edit some of the settings.

.

Download it from here if you are using Windows, and here if you are using a Mac.

.

Once the software has been downloaded and installed, you will see a window like the screenshot below. Make a note of the camera/recorders IP address.

If the recorder/camera does not appear in the program, first ensure they are turned on and check the connections from the device to your internet router. If you are using a Wi-Fi bridge system, make sure that they are configured correctly (if they were not pre-configured) and are both turned on.

Surveillance Client

If you are using Windows you can download Surveillance Client from here.

If you are using a Mac, download it from here.

When you have downloaded and installed Surveillance Client you will be presented with a set-up wizard. Click Next, then Add Online Device. Your recorder/camera should appear in the list; select it then click Add Selected Device.

Now choose a name for the recorder/camera. By default the username is admin and the password is blank. Now click ‘Add’.

.

You will see the device appear in the left hand pane. Select it, click ‘Import’, then open the ‘DefaultGroup’ folder on the right side and you will see it has been added.

Click ‘Next’ then ‘Finish’ and you will be taken to the main menu. Now click on ‘Main View’.

.

When you are taken to Main View, double click on DefaultGroup, then the name of your recorder (if you have one) and the cameras will be shown. In the screenshot I only have one camera connected, which is signified by the green play icon. Double click on the camera name to begin live view. If you want the camera to be in full screen, double click on the live feed.

To access recordings, go to back to the Control Panel and then click on Remote Playback. Open up DefaultGroup on the left side panel, then select the cameras which you would like to view recordings from and click the play button. You can select the date using the calendar on the bottom right.

To access the settings of the recorder/camera itself, go to the Control Panel, click on Group Device, then click on the spanner icon next to your recorder.

How to Setup Push Notifications via SCS Pro

The following guide will apply to the SCS Pro App on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.

Start by opening the App. On the Home screen you will tap on the … next to the DVR/NVR you want to enable alerts on.

Then you will tap on Device Details.

On the Device Details page you will tap on Multi-channel Alarm Subscription.

Enable the alarm notifications by sliding the switch at the top of the screen.

Select which type of alert you would like to enable below. This example will show motion detection alerts.

Select the cameras you want to enable Motion Alerts for by tapping on the circle on the right. You can also tap on Select All in the top right if you want to enable alerts for all your cameras. Once you have made your selections tap on the back button on the top left.

Tap on Save at the bottom of the page.

Changing Camera Names

This guide will assist you with changing the name of the camera in the Live View Display.

First you will need to access the main menu by right clicking anywhere on the screen. Left click on Main Menu and enter your password. Then click on Camera under settings.

In the camera settings click on Camera Name on the left .You will see a list of all the camera channels with their default names. Click in the text box next to the camera you want to modify and type with the on screen keyboard.

For this example we will name the Channel TEST and then click the apply button on the bottom right.

You should now see the updated channel name on the Live View screen for that camera.

Once the account info has been configured go to Dynamic DNS > NOIP Hostnames and create a Hostname

.

When creating a hostname, you would put in the hostname spot a name or address that is easy to remember. For example, if the hostname is myhost211 and the domain is set to ddns.net when it is created it will look like “myhost211.ddns.net”

Once your DDNS is created, you can go into your system’s Main Menu > Network > DDNS page and select NOIP for the DDNS type. Then you would type in your login information to the username and password area of the system and type in the full domain name.

i.e., Username: (NOIP Username) Password: (NOIP Password) Domain: “YourNOIPDomain.quickddns.com”

.

If setup correctly NOIP will Dynamically update the IP as needed on its own. NOIP is a subscription service so if you do not have a subscription you will need to manually re-apply for your DDNS once every month.

To enable this on older DVR’s pre 2015 you may need to go to Settings > Network > Advance Settings > DDNS and Double click on the setting then Enable it.

With the DDNS configured on the system you will need to then port forward your router with either the TCP or HTTP ports for your system.

The Default ports that need to be opened for the Blue / Black line systems are TCP 80 for Web and TCP 37777 for the Apps.

How to Reset Password via SCS Pro

Tap on Tool Manager at the middle of the page.

On this page, Select Password Resetting. This will bring up your Camera to scan the QR code. Please allow any permissions for the app.

You can then Scan the QR code on the Left of your Password Reset screen.

If scanned correctly, a Security Code will be sent to the email at the bottom of your Password Reset screen. Type the security code in at the bottom and create a new password. If asked to Sync Password with Remote Devices select Yes.

SMTP Setup Guide for

Blue/Black Line NVR on Gmail

Step 1.

Go to https://myaccount.google.com

Navigate to Security > How you Sign in to Google and Enable Two Step Verification.

Once the 2-Step Verification is Enabled you need to go into your Google Account Security page and Search for App Passwords at the top

Select a Custom Device from the Right Dropdown Menu

Once done click Type in a name for the Device and click Generate

Copy the Generated Password Google gave you and save it somewhere safe.

You will need the password here for the next step.

From the system interface you will now navigate to the Main Menu > Network > Email

.

Input the following account information as listed in the image below.

Perform a test to confirm you are able to send emails from the SMTP Service.

You can set up Alarm Event / Trigger Actions for the cameras on their corresponding Alarm

or AI page.

For Example on the system under Main Menu > Alarm > Motion Detection > More you can enable it to Send Email alerts whenever there is a motion event.

.

This can be applied to any screen with the Send Email function.

Date & Time Setup

In order to change the Date and Time you will need to go to Main Menu->System

Inside of System Settings navigate to the General Tab on the Left and Date & Time. Enter in your System Time. You may change the Format of the system time from a 24 Hour clock to a 12 Hour clock if you prefer. You may enter the Daylight Saving Time settings under “DST”.

Be sure to Save your System Zone and click Apply at the bottom when you are done.

Remote Viewing on Mobile Devices

To access your recorder remotely you must first connect it to your modem or router using an Ethernet cable and power on the recorder.

Go to Main Menu->Setting->Network–TCP/IP and Enable “DHCP” Inside of the Network settings and Save.

*Some models require you to click “Edit or Modify” next to NIC1 to find the DHCP option to enable.

Make sure DHCP is enabled. Click OK at the bottom.

.

Be sure to Save / Apply these settings before moving on.

Navigate to the Main Menu-> Setting -> Network -> P2P (sometimes called Easy4IP) Enable P2P at the top of the menu and select Apply

Your P2P status will show “Online” now. If P2P shows “Online” you can proceed to the next steps in this guide.

If you are still getting an “Offline” status

You may want to leave this menu up since we will be using the Device SN QR code in the next few steps.

Downloading SCS Pro on your Mobile Device

.

You must use our mobile application SCS Pro on your iOS or Android device. This can be found in the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store. Search for SCS Pro and download our free application.

Launch SCS Pro once it has been downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. Select your Region / Language. Once you are on the Home section of SCS Pro. Click on the + Icon at the top right corner. Select SN/Scan. Scan the Device SN QR code found on the right hand side of your P2P menu on your DVR or NVR. This screen may still be up on your system if you are following this guide. Once the code has been scanned you will see the Device SN appear on your device. Click Next.
