NOTE: Just because a device is ONVIF compliant does not mean all features/functions (i.e. motion) will be supported. See this link: https://www.onvif.org/conformant-products/ and filter it by CoStar Technologies and then look at the respective model. For example, the AV5255PMIR-SH (MegaDome 2 Series) is ONVIF Profile S compliant. Per the ONVIF Profile Feature Overview motion is not supported in Profile S. If motion is required, the camera must support motion detection and the Arecont Driver must be used when adding the camera to the VMS.

Resolution:

Verify camera functionality.

1. Verify the camera Web UI is accessible and that you can see live video in the browser.
2. Verify you can view the RTSP stream from the same computer the VMS software is installed on.

3. Verify you can see the live stream of the camera using ONVIF Device Manager
4. Do not troubleshoot any VMS problem until the above steps pass.

VMS Guidelines:

1. Check with the VMS manufacturer if the camera requires a specific firmware version.
   • Information on any matrix they provide may be outdated and only show firmware they have had time to certify. There will typically be newer firmware on the Arecont Vision website which resolves camera issues we have identified and resolved.
   • NOTE: Downgrading camera firmware is not always possible in the field once you are at a particular revision. It will require the camera to be sent in as an RMA to be reflashed to the required version.
2. If there is an issue when the camera is added to the VMS with the Arecont driver, attempt the below:
   • Remove the camera from the VMS.
   • Re-add it using the ONVIF or RTSP option.
   • If it is successful, the Arecont driver they provided is out of date.
3. If there is an issue when the camera is added to the VMS with the ONVIF driver, attempt the below:
   • Remove the camera from the VMS.
   • Re-add it using the Arecont Driver if available or RTSP option.
   • If it is successful, verify the camera datasheet states the camera is ONVIF compliant.
4. Check the VMS manufacturer for a software update.

Troubleshooting VMS integrations with ONVIF Device Manager

Issue:

A problem is seen in a particular model connected to the Video Management System.

Resolution:

1. Verify both the camera and VMS are at the latest software revisions.
2. A third-party tool called ONVIF Device Manager (ODM) (https://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/) will be installed on the VMS. This tool will be used to identify if the issue is camera or VMS related.
3. Install ODM and launch the program. It will begin auto discovering cameras. If your camera is not populated you can manually add it on the lower left.

   

4. Enter the username (admin) and the password for the camera.

   

5. Once logged in, select the camera. There are links to view the live video from each sensor(s) depending on the camera model.

   

6. Monitor the live video from here to see if the symptoms experienced in the VMS can be replicated.

How to connect to RTSP streams on Arecont cameras

1. Click HERE for the API documentation.
2. You will need to use VLC to open a network stream. Download VLC from HERE.
3. Click on Media and select Open network stream
   
4. Copy and paste the syntax RTSP stream you wish to view.

How to connect to RTSP streams on Contera cameras

1. Click HERE for the API documentation.
2. You will need to use VLC to open a network stream (Media > Open Network Stream). Download VLC from HERE.
3. Log in to the camera web page and click Video & Audio. Confirm your stream settings for the Main, Sub Stream, and MJPEG streams are set to what you want.

   

4. Click Network and select the RTSP tab. What is displayed below is the base string to use. If you want to view another channel append “_X” X being the channel number.

Exacq: Contera Onvif Driver Integration

Issue:

• Contera cameras will be stuck on “Connecting”.
• Customers using Contera series cameras may be requested by Exacq technical support to downgrade the firmware to an older release.
  Downgrading is NOT required as you should be on the latest camera firmware release.

Contera series cameras MUST be added using the ONVIF driver. Attempting to add the camera using the auto discovery method uses the Arecont Vision driver and will not work.

1. Click New.
2. Select ONVIF from the drop-down.
3. Provide the IP address of the camera.
4. Provide the username and password.
5. Click Apply.

   

6. Click on the camera from the navigation tree on the left. You should see 4 inputs for multisensor cameras. In the example below, it’s an AV20476DN running firmware 65412.

Installation Of Botech CMS Wizard For Windows

To install the app on windows, you need to get the Wizard. The application file is given in a compressed form. To install, we have to decompress it. 

The installation process and monitoring are given here in three steps. In the first step, we have to install the app, in the second step, we will go for log in to the app, in step-3, we will add the device and monitor cameras. 

Step-1 Installation of the Software

Here, we have to double click the application set up file. The file is in a compressed file form. Extract the file. Now the application opens the following window.

Here the app is asking you to read the license agreement. If you are happy and satisfied with the agreement, tick the ‘I accept’ icon. After that press the next button.

Here, you have to select the destination folder and the path of it. Make sure that you are chosen the path and folder where there is enough space to load it. After that press the ‘Install Button’. The following page will open

The installation will begin. It takes a few minutes to load the content. Multiple smaller files load before the installation is finished. When it empties all its content, it will inform you. A window will open that gives you the information that it is finished.

Press the ‘Finish’ button. The installation part is over.

The next step is that we have to log in to the application.

Step-2 Log In The Application

To log in to the application we open the icon. It opens with the following page.

Here, you have to give a ‘Username’ and create a password. The username and password are of your choice.

After creating the username and password of your choice, press the log-in button. The following page will open.

The App is asking you a few basic questions here. These are easy to answer and remember. These questions will come in handy when you forget the password. Press the login button.

The Homepage of the software will open. This way you have to log in to the application.

Now we reach the last step of the monitoring. In this step, we will add the device and monitor cameras.

Step-3 Add The Device & Monitoring Cameras

To add the device, you have to open the Homepage of the Software. There, you will find the Device Management icon. Press that icon and the following window will open. Fill in the details.

You will have to give here the device name, device IP, Port, username and password. After filling in all these details, press the edit button. It will add the device. the following page will open.

This way the device will be added and you will monitor cameras. You can add as many devices as possible by following the same methodology.

What should I do if I forgot the password of VIGI NVR

If you forget the password of the VIGI NVR, you can reset the password via VIGI NVR.

Step 1. Click the Forgot Password option on the login window.

Step 2. Send the Verification Code to your Reset Password Email.

• If your NVR is connected to the internet

1. Click the Send Code and you’ll receive a verification code sent to your Reset Password Email.
2. Enter the verification code you received into the blank under the QR code and click the Verify button. Then you can set a new password for your NVR

• If the NVR is not connected to the internet

1. Download the VIGI app from the Apple App Store or Google Play or scan the QR code to download the VIGI app.

2. Open the VIGI app, log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have a TP-Link ID, sign up first.
3. Tap the “+” on the top right to scan the QR code on the left of the VIGI NVR. Then you’ll receive a verification code sent to your Reset Password Email.
4. Enter the verification code you received into the blank under the QR code and click the Verify button. Then you can set a new password for your NVR.

 Note:

1. What’s the Reset Password Email?

Reset Password Email is the one you entered in Quick Setup for the password reset. It is only used to receive the verification code when you need to reset the password.

2. What should I do if I don’t receive the verification code?

• Check your junk or spam folder.
• Add noreply@tp-link.com in the White list (by clicking Create a new filter) in your email setting.
• Check your email filter setting in your email account.

How to upgrade the firmware of VIGI NVR?

If you want to upgrade the firmware of VIGI NVR, please follow the steps below:

Step 1. Right-click on the screen, click Settings on the Main Menu.

Step 2. Go to Settings -> System -> Firmware Upgrade.

Method 1: Upgrade firmware online

1. Click Check for Update.

2. Click Upgrade, and the NVR will be automatically upgraded.

Method 2: Upgrade firmware locally

1. Please find your NVR at TP-Link Download Center, download the latest firmware of your NVR and save the file of firmware to your USB drive. Insert your USB drive into the USB port on the front panel of the NVR.
2. Click Select upgrade firmware and select the firmware you need for the upgrade.

3. After the import of firmware, the NVR will be automatically upgraded.
