How do I access the cameras on my computer?

Go Here, login using with the credentials you used to sign up with. You will see your devices at the top, click ACCESS and it will launch a new tab for that device. This info can also be found by going to our website and downloading it Here 

How do I network the unit so it can be viewed remotely?

First you want to make sure you plug the unit into your router. Now on the unit login, then right click on the mouse and go to Menu> System> Network. You can set the IP Address under “TCP/IP”. Once you’ve entered your IT information go to “P2P” across the top. Make sure it is enabled. Below you will see the server address Here. You will go there and create an account then link the unit with your account. See Link below for more detailed instructions. Here

How do I connect a third party camera?

You will need a PC and the manufacturers IP tool to address the camera(s) IP address within the same scheme as the internal NIC of the NVR (172.16.0.x). Now go to the camera management within the NVR, switch the port that the camera(s) are plugged into from PNP to IP address, protocol will be ONVIF, port will be 80 (HTTP port of the camera) and type in the username and password of the camera and it should connect. Some manufacturers require ONVIF to be enabled within the camera before adding to different unit. Please check their website for information on how to enable ONVIF.

Why can’t I use Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari to view my device(s)?

Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari took away a plugin that was used for ActiveX plugins. This has effected anyone that uses an ActiveX plugin for their devices not just InVid.

Why is my Vision camera not connecting to the NVR?

That may be due to the NVR having the old default password of 123456. Leave the camera plugged into the unit and go to Menu>Camera then click on the “cog” (gear looking icon) next to the port of the camera you are trying to connect. Type in the password “1234567u” for the camera and the camera should then connect.

Why did my device suddenly go offline?

If you are connected to your ISP’s router (Internet Service Provider) occasionally it is possible your ISP is doing a update which can occasionally change your network environment and require a reboot of your router/recorder (Router first then recorder). It is highly recommended that with this device to install your own router to run the recorder to avoid this from happening, however if using your ISP’s router the above stated solution is the fix for it.

How do I Share a device added to my star4live account?

Have the new user create an account Here. Log into the account with your device, click on SHARE, enter in the customers user name or email, choose a “valid to date”, when this date hits the device will no longer be shared, and hit ok. The device will now be found under the Shared Record. This info can also be found by going to our website and downloading it Here

Trying to view devices on IE but can’t download the plugins?

Please ensure you are in fact using Internet Explorer and not Edge. The two have similar icons, Edge is a darker blue lower case “e” whereas Internet Explorer is a lighter blue lower case “e” with a yellow ring going over the top left of the “e”. Also note that on Windows 10 Edge is the default browser, Internet Explorer isn’t on the task bar or the desktop, you can use Cortana and search “Internet Explorer” to launch.

How do I turn On/Off motion function?

Right click on the mouse, go to the menu>alarm>motion. By default motion detection should be enabled. You want to draw the area of where you want motion to be detected and then hit apply down at the bottom.

How can I see video from last week?

To playback video you want to right click on the mouse and the second to last option on the bottom is “Playback”. On your right you will select which cameras you will like to playback, below the camera list select the date in which the video was recorded. Hit the play button down at the bottom and the playback should start.

How do I add a User?

Right click on mouse go to Menu>System>User. Click Add at the bottom. Create the username and password then select permissions you want to grant that user and hit OK.

How do I format my hard drive? Vision Series

Go to Menu, click on Storage, click on Hard Disk, select your disk(s) and click Format (remember, this erases all data on that drive(s)).

Do I need to port forward this device? Vision

If you’re using the P2P which is explained above no port forwarding is required, if you are networking this device to be seen remotely via a WAN IP or DDNS, yes port forwarding is required.

Where can I check to see if my unit is recording?

Is my unit up to date with its firmware?

To find out if the unit is up to date Locally, you want to go to the Menu, select Maintain on your left then Upgrade. Now select “Upgrade by Cloud” (across the top) then hit “Check” in bottom right had corner. To find out if the unit is up to date Remotely, you want to go to Setup, then Maintenance then Maintenance again and hit “Check New Version”. If it is the latest firmware it will say “The current version is already the latest.” If it is not up to date then you will be prompted to upgrade, which will download the file from the cloud, upgrade and restart your NVR.

How do you check to see if an upgrade is available for the Vision NVR?

Frequently Asked Questions

Note: These guides were written for Uniview NVR users who prefer to change settings remotely using a mobile or desktop browser (Internet Explorer). Remote and local configurations share many similarities and only the locations and availability of each feature may vary. The Uniview NVR Manual can provide more information if what you are looking for is not found in this simple guide or if you prefer local access by connecting a mouse and display to your NVR.

How Do I Access My Uniview Security System?

There are two ways to interface with your Univew Security System and to access all its features and configuration options you can choose to access it locally or remotely. Local access refers to connecting your Network Video Recorder to a display and a USB mouse. The monitor and the mouse will serve as the input-output for interfacing. Remote access refers to connecting to your Network Video Recorder through a browser (Internet Explorer provides the greatest compatibility) installed on a device that is in the same network as the Security System.

Local Access and First Time Setup

The NVR interface can be accessed directly by simply connecting the NVR to a display (this can be done with an HDMI or older VGA cable) and to a mouse. Once the display and the mouse is connected and the login screen is displayed, proceed to login. Since this is the first time, we will be using the default username and password (at the time of writing default login and password are admin and 123456) found on the manual that came with the NVR. 

After logging in, Uniview’s privacy policy will be shown for you to review. Once you have reviewed and accepted, you will immediately gain access to the NVR and cameras connected to it. But, since it is the first time we are logged in and we are still using the default credentials, we will be prompted to change the login information.  You will be using the new password for all your future access with the NVR.

Once the password has been changed, a pattern lock will also be prompted (this is optional and can be skipped). After doing so, the Privacy Policy will be displayed for the user to review. The screen that follows the Privacy Policy will let us connect our mobile devices to the NVR. This will grant access to Live View, alerts, and other configurations we may want.

The device QR code will be presented here. Allowing you access to the EZCloud feature. Devices can be added to the cloud manually but it is far easier to just use a link given from the QR code. If you want to pair the NVR with the EZView app, click here to read more about it. 

The next step is to set or synchronize the time. This step will ensure that all scheduling configurations you will set and all alerts and alarm information will be accurate and will work based on your local time.

After this, you will be prompted to check the TCP/IP settings, the default settings will work for most people. If you need to specify networking (usually when DHCP is not enabled on other devices on the network), please do so here. You will still be able to alter this later.

Once the time and the password have been configured, you are now ready to enable and disable the features of the NVR.

To access the menu, you can right-click on any part of the screen and then click on Menu. It can also be accessed along with other options by moving your cursor to the bottom left of the screen. This will take you to the SETUP screen where you can enable and customize alerts, features, and other options available to you.

Remote Access and First Time Setup

You can also access the NVR interface through the use of a browser on a device connected to the same network as the NVR. To do this, you will need the IP address of the NVR you wish to connect to. The easiest way to find this on a Windows PC is with Uniview’s EZTools which can be downloaded here. Once installed on your computer, running the EZtools will automatically show you all connected Uniview devices.

The IP address can also be obtained by logging into your router and checking connected devices, using the command prompt (arp -a command and checking for new devices on the private network) or simply using another display for the NVR to check the current IP address of the device.

Note: Any browser should work to alter configurations, however using Internet Explorer will be the easiest to access the live view. (due to some newer browsers not supporting certain plugins). 

From here, we can see the IP address given by our router to the NVR. 192.168.254.192. It will likely be different for you. Clicking on the Remote Web button will open your default browser and take you to the NVR interface.

You can then proceed to login to your Uniview NVR Interface. Since this is the first time, we will be using the default username and password found on the manual that came with the NVR. After logging in, Uniview’s privacy policy will be shown for you to review. Once you have reviewed and accepted, you will immediately gain access to the NVR and cameras connected to it. But, since it is the first time we are logged in and we are still using the default credentials, we will be prompted to change the login information. You will be using the new password for all your future access with the NVR.

Once the password has been updated, you will be greeted by the Live View display. Clicking on any of the cameras found on the left will show you live footage from it. In this case, a single IP camera is connected to the 4-Channel NVR.

From here, you can now click on SETUP to access all configurations and features and set them up to your preference.

How Do I Start Recording And Scheduling?

Once properly installed and powered, most Uniview Security System immediately starts recording and saving footage to the Hard Disk Drive. To configure when and what types of footage you choose to save, you only need to navigate to the Recording Schedule tab.

Navigation: Setup > Camera > Schedule

Pre-Record and Post-Record:

If the Pre-Record and Post-Record values are set to 60 seconds and 300 seconds respectively and using motion detection as a trigger, here is how it will play together:

Event-Types:

The setup that is shown on the screenshot above can be interpreted this way. During weekdays, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the system will monitor and record all footage into memory. The rest of the day, the system will not record anything unless a motion trigger or an alarm event is detected. During weekends, the system will not record anything except for motion-triggered events. During holidays, the system will not record anything unless an event is triggered.

How Do I View Playback, Timeline, and Events?

The Playback tab is found between the Live View and Setup tabs of your Uniview Web-Based Interface. As always, Internet Explorer would provide the widest range of options not available to other browsers.

Navigation: Playback

The playback sidebar is the first point of interest. The top drop-down allows you to filter what types of playback you wish to view. The options are as follows:

Normal: Default playbacks and scheduled recording sessions.

Tag: Shows a playback list that matches a tag keyword.

To utilize this feature, you will need to create tags on certain times you want to save for future reference. To do this, click on the time you want to create your tag and click on the Add Customized Tag button on the toolbar as shown here:

A window will open that allows you to name your tag and adjust the time.

After clicking OK, the new tag will be created. To search for tagged footage, change the filter into Tag, click on the Camera, specify the Keyword, set the time range to search between, and then click search as shown below:

This will display all tagged footage that matches the Keywords.

Event: Shows playback list for a matching event. Very similar to the above example but a simpler approach is only looking for footage of recorded events. To use this function change the filter to Event, choose a specific Event-Type from the drop-down list, select the Camera, specify the Time Range the system will search. Click search. This will display all events that match the Event-Type captured by the camera within the time range.

Smart: The system analyzes recordings for smart search results. 

How Do I Monitor And Manage My Storage?

To monitor and manage your storage, you will need to access the Hard Disk group on the setup. The settings and their functions are explained below.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Hard Disk

Hard Disk

This tab shows you details of the current storage situation of your NVR. The total capacity and the available free space can be monitored from this tab alongside options to add and more storage.

Disk Group

This tab allows the creation and management of Disk Groups. A handy tool if managing a large number of Hard Disks and to simplify storage allocation.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Disk Group

The disk group feature allows us to assign hard disks to a disk group and use the disk group to store recordings and snapshots of specified cameras. Different arrays can be assigned to different disk groups. Redundant disks cannot be assigned to any disk group. Disk group information will be initialized if any disk in the group is formatted.

Allocate Space

This tab allows setting a maximum storage allocation for each camera on a disk group.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Allocate Space

Advanced

This tab will determine what the Network Video Recorder will do once the Hard Disk Drives are full and new footage needs to be saved. Setting this to Overwrite should allow the NVR to delete older footage to make space for new ones to be saved while setting this to Stop will prevent any new recordings to be saved.

Enhancing the functionality and security of your ND/NV-Series NVR is crucial, and firmware upgrades play a pivotal role in this process. Please follow the steps below to upgrade the ND/NV-Series NVR:

Before starting the upgrade, it’s recommended to back up your current settings and data to prevent any potential loss.

Step 1. Search for your NVR model on the VIVOTEK official website: https://www.vivotek.com/.

Step 2. Click on the webpage of your specific NVR model.

Step 3. Select ‘Downloads’ to find and download the latest firmware version (for example, ND9425P, as shown in the picture).

Step 4. After downloading, unzip the file to find a .img file.

Step 5. To update the firmware, access the NVR and import the .img file via Settings > System > Maintenance > Update Firmware.

There are two ways to access the NVR: via a Web console or a Local console. Please choose the appropriate method for accessing your NVR.

Navigate to Settings > System > Maintenance > Update Firmware and follow the previously mentioned steps.

Firstly, place the .img file on a USB drive and insert it into the NVR.

The NVR backup file contains the device configuration files, usually this file is exported as a security measure in case the device needs to be reset to defaults and then be restored with a predetermined configuration or previous configuration. This file can also be used by VIVOTEK Technical Support in case they require to reproduce an issue (using the same configuration parameters). In order to export the backup file of the ND/NV-Series NVR please follow the next guide:

How to Access Device from Web 2M DVRs

When devices are connected to the network, they can also be accessible from a computer. The first thing you need to make sure of is that the computer you are using and the DVR/NVR are connected to the same network (network is coming from the same router for both devices). You will first need to obtain the IP address of the DVR/NVR from Menu → System → Network → IPv4 address.

After noting the IP address of your device, open Internet Explorer and in the address search bar type in the DVR/NVR IP address. If the NVR and the computer are on the same network then it will pull up the login page of the DVR/NVR. The credentials will be the same as when you log into the local interface of your device.

2M Tool is used to find the IP address of your 2M NVR, DVR, or IP camera, as well as limited management of its settings. You only need to make sure that the computer you are using 2M Tool on is connected to the same network as the device that you are trying to search for.

Why do we need the serial number? The serial number is mainly used in case of a customer needing a password reset on their device.

In the case that you forget the password for you device in which you will not be able to access the web page, and the camera is too high up to reach to find the sticker, you can use 2M Tool to find the serial number. 2M Tool does not automatically show the number; you must force it to show. First, you will need to click on the Settings icon to show the options:

Then another window will open where you can select Serial Number to show.

Once you hit OK, the serial number will then appear.

How to Install Plugin for Internet Explorer

This article features screenshots from our 2MN-8XXX series NVR and our 2MT-4XXX series DVR, but the same principle will apply to any other recorder. This is because each recorder requires a plugin in order to view the cameras on the web page. You will have to manually install the plugin, but it is usually always provided as a link for easy access.

First, you must make sure that you are using Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is the only browser that can support these plugins. It is possible for some devices to be viewed on Google Chrome or even Firefox, but then other functions are very limited so it is highly not recommended to use those browsers. Once Internet Explorer is open, and you navigate to the device’s web page by entering the IP address, there should be a link shown on the page. You can see on the picture below that the link is located on the top of the page.

When you click on the link, a pop-up will appear on the bottom of the page that will let you choose whether to Run the program or Save the program onto your computer. Note: Running the program will not save it. If you wish to save the program, please select Save. Once it has finished downloading, then you can run the program from the file location.

If you choose to Run the program, an error message will appear noting that the publisher couldn’t be verified. This is no issue; the plugin will not cause any harm to your computer. Hit Run, and run the installation. Some installations will require you to close out of Internet Explorer in order to complete the setup.

Once the setup is complete, refresh the page, and another message will pop-up on the bottom that asks you to Allow the add-on to run. Select Allow, and log into the page. Now you should be able to view your cameras on the web page.

How to Set Up 2M Guard

2M Guard is the phone app that we use for our NVR’s to view cameras from our phones offsite.

This app only works for models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16 and our IP cameras.

1. Find the Register Code and/or QR Code for your DVR/NVR

• on NVR menu: Menu → System → Network → P2P OR Menu → Network → P2P
• on web menu: Setup → Network → P2P

2. Two ways to add a device onto the app:

1. Star4Live
2. directly on the app

Method 1: Adding Device Through Star4Live

• Go to https://www.star4live.com/login
• Click on Login if you already have an existing account or Sign Up if you do not

• Once you have logged in, click on Add and another window will pop up prompting for a Device Name and Register Code. Once all of the required information has been filled out, hit OK and your device should show up under My Cloud Devices.

• Once you have successfully added the device on Star4Live, open the app and log into your account using the same credentials that you created/used on star4live.com
• Go to Live View and tap the icon in the upper right corner to select a device
• Select the device you would like to view
• Start live view

Method 2: Adding Device Directly on the App

• When you first download the app it will prompt you to either Sign Up or Login
• Tap on Login if you already have an existing account or Sign Up if you do not

• Open up the app menu and go to Devices. This section shows all of the devices that have been added onto your account. To add another one, tap on Add at the top of the screen.

• You can choose to add the device by scanning the QR code or by manually inputting the Register Code. To move forward with either of these options, you will need to tap on Scan

• A screen will appear for you to scan a QR code. If you choose to scan this is where you will do it, but if you choose to manually enter the Register Code, tap on the edit icon on the bottom.

• Once all of the correct information has been filled out, hit the Save icon in the upper right corner.
• In order to see the cameras, open the app menu and tap on Live View
• At first, it will look blank. This is because we need to add the cameras to the windows. Tap on the Add icon in the upper right corner

• A list of your devices will appear. Select the one that you want to view and hit Start Live View on the bottom

• Now you can view your cameras on the go!

How to Set Up 2M Station

When first running the program, it will prompt you for a username and password which will be admin/123456 by default. It is recommended that you change the password after installation.

Once you are logged in it will show the menu. Click on Device Management to add any devices. On the left side make sure that Encoding Device is selected. It will show at the bottom of the screen any devices that are online as long as the computer is on the same network as the devices.

There are two methods to add an online device. The first method is fairly simple. All you need to do is check the box for the NVR that shows under Online Device and then click Add. The second method to adding an online device is to manually add it. First click on Add next to Managed Device, and it will open another window where you can input the details of your device. It will ask for:

• Device Name → can be any name for your device
• IP/Domain → local or public IP address of NVR
• Port → port number of NVR
• Username → username of NVR
• Password → password of NVR

After putting in all of the correct information of your device, click on Add and then the device should come online.

Another method to add a device is by using the P2P method which allows for a user to view their cameras offsite from any location. The device will be added as a Cloud Device instead of an Encoding Device.

It will show Login and Register buttons that will link to your Star4Live account which will show the devices you have previously added. After logging in, it will take a minute or two for the devices to show online. At first, it will say Offline (Connecting…), but eventually the status will show Online.

After successfully adding all of your devices, go back to the menu and click on Live View to view your cameras. A list of online devices will show on the left side of the window. Click and drag the device into the window view in order to load all of the video. If not all of the cameras are wanted in view, you can click on the plus sign next to your device and it will show a list of cameras connected to the NVR. You can click and drag specific cameras onto the live view screen.

How to Set Up Email Notifications Using Gmail

Gmail will have automatic security settings that need to be disabled before configuring email settings in the NVR. You will need a computer in order to edit these settings. First, log on to your Gmail account and then click on the square icon in the upper right corner of the page. Click on Account.

Security → Scroll to the bottom until you find “Less secure app access” → “Allow less secure apps: ON”

Now that Gmail has been set to allow app access, we can move on to the NVR settings. These can either be configured through the web page or through the NVR itself.

Through the DVR/NVR: Main Menu → Network → Basic → Email

Through the webpage: Setup → Network → Email

• Server Authentication: On
• Username: email that you will be sending from (can be a throwaway email)
• Password: password of email account
• SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
• SMTP port: 465
• Enable TLS/SSL
• Can choose to attach image or not
• Sender: sender name
• Sender’s address: email address (same as username)
• Recipient: any recipient name
• Recipient address: email address of recipient
• Test email

After you finish entering all of the settings and the test is successful go to Camera → Motion → Select Camera → Trigger Actions → Send Email

How to Share a Device

Each NVR can only be added by one account at a time, so if one wants to add a device onto multiple accounts they would need to share the device with one account being the “main” account. This means that one person will have the device added to their account and that person will share the device with other people. Each person still must have their own Star4Live account.

How to share the device is simple. First, you will need to log onto the main Star4Live account which the NVR has been added to. It can be done either through the computer or your personal phone.

Sharing from Computer: after logging into the account your list of added devices will appear. Click Share on the row for the device you are wanting to share.

Then a menu will appear to enter the account you want to share to, the Valid Till date, User Rights, and any Description you want to give.

• Share To → can either be the username or the email of the Star4Live account you are sharing to
• Valid Until → can go up to X amount of years, months, or just a few days
• Permission → can choose any user rights that have already been configured on the NVR (admin, etc.)
• Remarks → can give a short description to the recipient about the device that is being shared

Once all of the information has been correctly filled out, click Confirm to successfully share.

Sharing from 2M Guard Phone App: after logging into your Star4Live account on the 2M Guard app, go to your Devices and then tap on the device that you want to share. A small menu will appear. Then tap Share on the bottom of the screen.

The next window will show the device and a list of the cameras that are connected and online. You can choose specific cameras, or select the device so that the entirety of its cameras are selected for sharing.

Once your device(s) has been selected, the Share menu will finally appear. The app will ask for the same information as the computer does, but it will not give a space to fill out a description. Fill out the Share To and the Valid Period the same as you would do on the desktop instructions written above. The only other difference between the Star4Live browser and the app is the sharing Type: you will be able to choose between Role or Function.

• Role: can choose a specific user or role to share to another user
• Function: can choose specific functions to share to another user with Live View being automatically selected by default

NOTE: Only admin rights will allow another user to access the device through the web browser or through 2M Station because they both allow a user to make changes to the device. If you do not wish for another user to be able to make any kind of changes (viewing only), please choose the By Function type.

Once one of these methods have been completed to share the device, the recipient only needs to log into their Star4Live account and the shared NVR should show automatically under their own device list.

How to Sign Up for Star4Live Account

Star4Live is the server that we use to view NVR and camera footage over the web. Each customer needs to have an account to view and manage their devices.

This is only valid for models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-2008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16 and our IP cameras.

• Go on https://www.star4live.com/login
• Click on Sign Up

• Clicking on this link will direct you to a new page that will prompt you to fill out information in order to create an account
  1. Username
  2. Email → Acquire: will send a code to the email entered
  3. Verification Code: code that was sent to email. NOTE: If you have not received anything in your inbox, please also check the Spam folder.
  4. Password
  5. Confirm Password
  6. Service Agreement

• Once all the information has been correctly filled out, click Register and your account will be ready to use.

How to Upgrade the Firmware

Every now and again, we will release a new firmware update that can either hold new features for your unit, bug fixes, or a bit of both. We have made it simple to request the newest firmware so that there is no need to wait for a file to be sent. First, you will need to make sure that your device is connected to the internet so that the NVR will be able to communicate with our servers.

Method 1: From the NVR Interface

Then you will go into the Main Menu and click on Maintain. There will be a section for Upgrade.

There are two options for upgrading:

1. Local Upgrade: this option is only good if you already have the firmware file loaded onto either a USB to plug directly into the device or if you already have the firmware file in a location on the computer which you are using to upgrade the device
2. Cloud Upgrade: this option is good if you do not already have the file on hand. It will automatically read the current version and detect if there is a newer version available

You will most likely want to choose the Cloud Upgrade option unless you have received the firmware file from Tech Support beforehand. Click Cloud Upgrade, and wait for the device to finish its search. It will either notify you that the current version is already the latest, or it will show a newer version, and the Upgrade button will highlight at the bottom of the screen.

The upgrade time will vary between 1-5 minutes, sometimes lasting longer depending on the size of the update. Once the update has finished, the device will automatically restart. It will be ready to use again once it has fully finished the reboot.

Note: Please make sure that the device does not disconnect from the network or from power because it can cause a risk in damaging the unit if there is a failed update.

Method 2: From the Web Interface

The NVR can be updated from its web page if there is no monitor connected to the unit, or if it cannot be physically accessed. From the web page, you will navigate to Setup → Maintenance → Maintenance → Cloud Upgrade → Detect or Check for Update. The process is the same as it is from the unit itself, and the same rules will apply.

How to Use Star4Live

Star4Live is the server that we use to view NVR and camera footage over the web. Each customer needs to have an account to view and manage their devices. You must use Internet Explorer in order to access all of the functions of Star4Live.

This is only valid for models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16 and our IP cameras.

• Using Internet Explorer, please go to https://www.star4live.com/login
• Login if you already have an existing account or Sign Up if you do not
• If you are using this site for the first time on a device, please make sure to install the P2P plugin. The website will show you a prompt at the top of the screen. Make sure to allow pop-ups on your browser because clicking on the link will open up a new window

• When you log into Star4Live, the first page that shows is the Device Management tab which will show My Cloud Devices. Here is where you can see the devices that have been added to your account, or any devices that have been shared with you under Devices Shared To Me

• In order to access a device’s web page, click on the Access icon

• If the P2P plugin has been installed, the NVR web page will display automatically when you access your device. If not, you will get an error that your device “Cannot be reached.”
• Once the web page has finished loading up, you will need to install another plugin to view the cameras’ live feed.
• After it has been installed there will be a pop-up on the bottom of the screen that will ask permission to allow the plugin to run. You will need to allow this.

After selecting System, select the Network option.

Under the network tab, make sure that DHCP is enabled (to obtain a network IP address automatically), then select the EZCloud tab.

On the EZCloud tab, make sure that EZCloud is enabled. Once enabled, the system will be able to be used via P2P

Note: The NVR can be accessed via phone app (EZView) or by Internet Explorer (http://en.ezcloud.uniview.com). Each user will need to register an account by providing an email address. The first person to scan the code will be the primary account holder, who will then share it with additional accounts as wanted/requested.

After checking and confirming that there is an update, select the Upgrade button after it becomes available. Please note that the cloud function will only work if the NVR is connected to the internet.

After setting up a schedule, you may press the down arrow to the right of the “Copy to” checkbox and select all the cameras that will have the same schedule.

You may individually select channels to manually set each one specifically as well.

After selecting VCA, select the Intrusion Detection sub-menu.

On the Intrusion Detection Page, select the camera that intrusion detection should be enabled on. Make sure that Intrusion Detection is set for On. Draw the intrusion perimeter and configure the detection area as needed. The primary information needed will be the sensitivity and percentage. Percentage will be the amount of the drawn area that must be filled in order to trigger the intrusion. Select Arming schedule and Trigger actions to indicate when the line cross schedule is active, as well as the commands that it will trigger (record on separate channels, audible alarms, alarm out, email notifications, etc.)

After logging in, move the mouse to the lower left hand corner of the screen and select the home icon. You may receive the login screen after selecting the menu option, but will be taken to the main menu page once logged in. On the main menu, select Maintain.

On the Maintain menu, please select the Log tab.

On the Log page, select the time and dates for when to query the logs. This will populate a list on the current page for any actions or events that have taken place within the requested time frame. You may change the type of log search under the Main type. Exporting will create a text file with the log query as well.

On the Maintain page, please select the Restore tab.

On the Restore page, you will have the option to select to factory default all settings, or restore everything to default except the networking parameters. Regardless of which one is chosen, there will be a pop-up requesting to confirm the action. Once confirmed, the selected action will be performed.

UNV Recorder || How to View Recorder Logs || Web GUI

To access the web client, please use a Windows based PC and use Internet Explorer as the web browser.

Access the recorder’s web interface by typing in the IP address on the address bar of Internet Explorer. The path should look like the following: “http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” (Note: If the HTTP port has been changed from default, you will need to add the port number after the ip address by inserting a colon “:” in between the address and port number).

Install all requested web plugins that are prompted by Internet Explorer. Once installed, you may need to refresh, or restart the web browser. You may install the plugin by selecting “Run”. In some instances, you may need to close the web browser to complete the installation. After installation completes, please re-open Internet Explorer.

After logging in, select the “Setup” option.

After selecting Setup, select Maintenance

Immediately after clicking Maintenance, it will direct you to the Log page where you can query the logs for the system. You can select the start/end time of the log search, as well as the log types.

UNV Recorder || IPC Initialization || Web GUI

Please note: A Uniview NVR with Uniview cameras plugged into the internal POE of the recorder will essentially be plug and play. By default, cameras have DHCP enabled, however, when plugged into the back the NVR, it will receive a static IP address.

***It is important that all cameras are plugged in the same timeframe and that all cameras are connected prior to disconnecting any of the currently installed cameras. Failure to do so may result in an IP address conflict and will need further troubleshooting to resolve the issue.***

By default, the system is set up for plug and play configuration.

***Please Note: For Gmail accounts, you will need to allow less secure apps to sign on to your account. This setting can be found in the account settings under security for the Google account***

Basic Setup & Adding Cameras (NVR) Amcrest NVR Troubleshooting

There are 2 types of NVR:

• PoE (Power over Ethernet)
• Non-PoE (this model has no Ethernet ports on the back panel)

Note: If needed, a PoE camera can be setup on a Non-PoE NVR. Please note, since the Non-PoE NVR will not have PoE ports available, the PoE camera will have to be set up on the same network segment as the NVR using a PoE switch or injector. For more information on how to set up a PoE camera, click here.

Power over Ethernet models is used when cameras, that also have the PoE specification, need to be powered by being directly plugged into the NVR’s PoE ports and do not require a separate power adapter to work.

A non-PoE model has no ports for cameras to connect to on the back panel but can add cameras with the built-in scan function that finds cameras connected to the same network. A PoE model can also use this scan feature, but additionally has PoE ports to power its cameras. The scan feature allows for compatible IP cameras to be added from the network whether they are PoE or WiFi.

For the purposes of this guide, the setup procedure will be divided between both the PoE and non-PoE NVR types. Each of these sections will have both a hardware setup and software setup portion.

PoE NVR

Hardware Setup

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the back of your NVR. It will go into the Ethernet port in between the HDMI port and the PoE ports. Make sure the NVR is powered on.
2. Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the PoE ports on your NVR to your camera. This will confirm that it is powered on.
3. Connect a VGA or HDMI cable from the back panel of your NVR to a monitor or TV. Make sure that the monitor or TV is set to the correct input (e.g. VGA, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.)
4. Connect the included mouse to a USB port on the front or back of your NVR.

Note: The network LEDs will start to blink on the back of the NVR when you properly connect the Ethernet cable from there to the router. Any PoE ports on the NVR do not have these LEDs. The same applies to the network LEDs that will begin to blink on the back of most cameras once they’re connected to an NVR’s PoE port.

Software Setup

     1. Please make sure NVR is turned on and then log into your NVR with your NVR’s login credentials. 

     2. Access the NVR’s main menu and go to, Camera in the Management section. In this menu click on the device Search option to search for your device on the network. 

     3. Click the Device Search button, and you can view the searched IP addresses at the top pane of the interface. Double click an IP address or check one IP address and then click the Add button to add the current device to the bottom pane of the interface. The system supports batch adding.

     4. Click the Manual Add button to add a device directly. Here you can set TCP/UPD/auto connection mode. The default setup is TCP.

Note: The manual add function is for Foscam, Dahua, Panasonic, Sony, Dynacolor, Samsung, AXIS, Arecont, ONVIF, and Custom. When the type is custom, you can input the URL address, user name, and password to connect to the network camera without selecting the network camera manufacturer. Please contact your network camera manufacturer for the URL address.

Non-PoE NVR

Hardware Setup

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the back of your NVR. It will go into the Ethernet port in between the HDMI port and the PoE ports. Make sure the NVR is powered on.
2. Connect a camera to your switch or another router port on the same network as the NVR and make sure it is powered on. The camera must be on the same network for the NVR to connect to it.

How to Download a Recording from an NVR or DVR

The device will need a hard drive installed to view recorded events. The recordings can be downloaded using the Amcrest View Pro app if you would like to download the recording to a mobile device, the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software, or using a web browser like Internet Explorer.

Please note, some web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, etc. may not be applicable in this process as it requires the use of a plugin if accessing from a browser.

Download a Recording Using Amcrest View Pro

Step 1: Open the Amcerst View Pro app and access your camera.

Step 2: Tap on the main menu icon (  ).

Step 3: Tap on Playback.

Step 4: Tap on the ( + ) icon.

Step 5: Select a channel that you would like to view and allow the recordings to load in the interface. Tap on the record type option to select a record type (All, Regular, Alarm, Motion, Smart) and tap Start Playback.

 

Note: Scroll through the playback timeline to select a specific time or event if needed.

Step 6: While the event is playing, use the manual record icon (  ) or the manual photo (snapshot) icon (  ) to retain the event to your app. If you are manually recording an event, tap the manual record icon again to stop the recording.

Note: All manually retained events will be saved into the My Saved Files folder located in the main menu of the app.

Step 6: Tap on the main menu icon (  ) again and tap on My Saved Files.

Step 8: Tap and hold the selected file located in the folder that you want to download.

Note: All manually recorded video events will be stored in the video folder (). If you took a manual snapshot, click on the snapshot icon (  ) to access the snapshot menu. If you would like to select all recordings, tap on the select all icon (  ).

Step 9: Tap on the download icon (  ) to download the file to your mobile device.

All any permissions requested to download the file. The file will then begin downloading to the photo/ gallery on your mobile device.

Download a Recording Using the Amcrest Surveillance Pro 

Recordings in the playback menu can be downloaded (exported) using the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. To download the free software click here.

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software and click on Playback.

Step 2: Select your device from the device menu and click on the Time option to display the calendar

Note: If a recording is present the date will have a blue dot. Enter the start and end times of the recording and click Search.

The Event menu will display all events located on the microSD card for your selected device from the date range entered.

Step 4: Choose a recording from the records menu. Please note, if you do not want to trim the recording, click on the export icon  to begin downloading.

Trimming a Recording

If you would like to trim the recording before downloading it, click on the scissor icon (  ). You will notice a start and end duration displayed for the selected recording on the time bar. The first red bar will be the start time and the second red bar will be the end time of the event. Use your mouse to drag the red bars and modify them to a specified start and end time.

Click on the scissor icon again to begin exporting the file.

Step 5: Click on Browse to choose a destination folder for your recording, then click on the Export Format dropdown menu and select MP4. Click OK.

Note: Since the default format is ASF it is highly recommended to choose either AVI or MP4 to view your recording.

The recording will begin to download.

Once the recording has finished downloading, click on the Downloaded tab. In the Downloaded tab, click on the Folder icon to access the recording.

The recording can be played on the default media player of your computer.

Download a Recording Using a Web Browser

The Playback or Search menu allows you to view recorded data retained in the system. This includes recording types such as regular, motion detection, (MD), Alarm, etc.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer, and access the web user interface (web UI) for your device. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.

Step 2: Click on Playback or Search.

Step 3: In this menu, you will notice a calendar, if events are available for this day a small dot will be visible underneath the day. Select the date from the calendar and click on the File List option.

Step 4: Select a recording from the file list. Note the start and end times of the recording and click on the scissor icon.

Step 5: Enter the start and end time of the recording into the video clip (scissor icon) interface and click the Save icon.

Choose a path that you would like the recording to download to and click OK. The recording will download to your computer using the specified path.

How to Filter AI Recordings in the Playback Menu (AI NVR)

Standalone AI cameras may not be able to differentiate between AI record types. To filter and display these recordings it is highly recommended to use an Amcrest AI NVR that supports this function.

Amcrest AI NVRs utilize four record types in the playback menu, “Regular” (green) which supports 24/7 continuous recordings, “Alarm” (red) which displays external alarm events (if applicable), “Motion” (yellow) which displays motion detection events, and IVS (blue) which displays AI events detected by the system. Please note, if you are using face detection, the IVS record type maybe indicated in the playback menu with a “F” next to the IVS record event.

Note: To view AI recordings it is highly recommended to use the Smart Search option located in the AI menu. For more information on using the smart search menu, click here.

To filter between different recording types in the playback menu, use the record type selection banner at the bottom of the interface.

The device will be set to display all recording types in the file list. To display only AI recordings in the file list, deselect the All checkbox and enable the IVS checkbox only. Click on the File List icon to display the record types.

How to Use the Smart Search Menu (AI NVR)

The Smart Search menu allows the user to view and access AI events from a centralized location. For more information, please refer to the information provided below.

Viewing Face Detection Events

All face detection data retained by the system can be accessed via the Face Detection option located in the Smart Search menu. Enter a start and end date and time for the event and list any attributes of the event such as Gender, Age, Expressions, etc. that you would like to view in the Smart Search interface and click Search.

A display of all face detection data will be displayed along with facial attributes. Click on the event you would like to view, and a clip of the event will be displayed in the built-in player. Click on the play icon to view the event.

Viewing Face Recognition Events
All face recognition data retained by the system can be accessed via the Face Recognition option located in the Smart Search menu. A search by attributes or a search by picture can be performed. Searching by attributes will load all face recognition data found in the system whereas searching by a picture will filter and display only the faces chosen by the user.
To search by attributes, enter a start and end time of the event in the interface and then click Search.

The interface will display all face recognition data. To view the event, click on the event you would like to view then click the play button in the interface.
To view specific face recognition data by image, click on the Search by Picture tab located in the Face Recognition interface.
If searchable images are already uploaded into a face library click on Face Library and select an image from the interface, then click OK to begin a search. If you would like to add images locally click Local Upload and follow the on-screen prompts to upload images. A USB flash drive with applicable images (in jpeg format) can be used to upload images to the DVR if using the local interface. Once an image has been loaded, enter a start and end time of the event, and click Search.

Viewing IVS Events
Any IVS data retained on the system can be viewed using the IVS Smart Search interface or via the playback menu if an IVS schedule is set in the system.
To view IVS data using the IVS smart search interface, click on the IVS option located in the Smart Search menu. Enter a start and end time of the event and click Search.

A layout of all IVS events captured by the device will be displayed. To view the event, select the event from the interface and click the play button.

How to Access an Amcrest NVR in a Web Browser Using Internet Explorer Mode on Microsoft Edge

Internet Explorer Mode (IE Mode) is a functionality built inside the Microsoft Edge browser that will allow your device to function inside a traditional IE infrastructure. IE Mode is available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 OS and is useful for devices or features that do not currently support javascript in other web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, etc. For more information on how to view your device using IE mode inside Edge, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Open Microsoft Edge and enter edge://settings/defaultbrowser into the browser

Step 2: In the Default Browser menu, click on the “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode” dropdown menu and select Allow then click Restart to restart the browser.

Step 3: Locate the IP address for your camera (Amcrest IP Config tool, etc). Once you have the IP address for your camera, navigate back to the Default Browser settings menu and in the Internet Explorer mode pages section, click Add.

Step 4: Enter the IP address for your device into the Add a page prompt and click Add. The IP address you entered will be displayed in the Internet Explorer mode pages section.

Step 5: Exit out of Edge and open the browser. Enter the IP address you entered into the browser to load the device’s interface. You can now access the web user interface for your device using internet explorer mode, if any plugins are required please allow all plugins to view and access all camera functions.

How to Export and View Recordings From a NVR/DVR

This quick article will show you how to export and view any recorded events or videos located on your device.  This process will require the use of a USB flash drive. We recommend a flash drive with a minimum of 8GB to efficiently complete the process. For more information on how to export and view recordings, please refer to the information provided below.

Step 1: Log into the local GUI of your device.

Step 2: Click Playback.

Step 3: Insert a flash drive into a USB port on your device. 

Right click on the interface to exit the prompt.

Step 4: Click on the File List icon.

Step 5: Select which recording you would like to export from the file list and click the Save icon.

Step 6: Ensure the correct files are selected and click Backup.

Step 7: Select or create a folder in which the recording will be exported and click Start.

Step 8: Allow the recording or recordings to export and click Save.

Step 9: Remove the flash drive from the device and insert it into your computer to locate the .dav file. If you are having trouble playing back the .dav you can use the Amcrest Smart Player to play the file or you can use a third party video converting software to convert the file to a proper format.

Exporting a Recording Using a Web Browser. 

If you would like to export a recording in a web browser, access the web user interface (web UI) of the device using Internet Explorer or IE mode in Microsoft Edge. This process requires the use of a plugin in the web browser so a compatible browser is required for this process.

Step 1: Open the web UI and log into the interface using the username and password for your device. Allow all permissions to access the interface. Click on Playback.

Step 2: Click on the File List icon.

Step 3: Select the recording from the file list and notate the start and end times. Click on the trim icon.

Step 4: Enter the start and end time into the interface and click the Save icon.

Step 5: Choose a destination for the recording and allow the recording to be exported to the file destination.
