How to connect the camera?

Please carefully read the following precautions before connecting the camera:

1. Ensure your phone and the camera are connected to the same appropriate WiFi network. (Some cameras support dual band WiFi, while others only support 2.4GHz WiFi. You can enter the product details through the order to search for relevant instructions.)

2. Enable phone GPS/location services for the Wansview Cloud app.

3. Place the camera within 3 feet of the router during connection for better WiFi signal.

Detailed connection steps:

Step 1: Open the Wansview Cloud APP and tap “Add device” to select your camera model from menu;

Step 2: Please choose the “Wi-Fi connection by QR code”;

Step 3: Power on your camera.

● Battery camera: Ensure sufficient power (For first use, please charge 3-5 hours with the power cord). Remember to power on the camera by pressing the power button.

● Plug-in camera: Plug in power cord directly. If it fails to start, try replacing the power cord/adapter.

Step 4: Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the light flashes as shown on the app, or hear “Di” or “Reset is successful”. Click the sentence “Make sure the indicator is flashing or if you hear a tone” and tab “Next.”

Step 5: If GPS/location is enabled, the app will automatically obtain the WiFi name of the phone connection. Please enter the correct Wi-Fi password and double check it (≤128 characters, no spaces).

Step 6: Scan QR code when prompted and wait for “QR code scan successful” message.

Step 7: Wait until the app shows “Connection successful”.

If the connection is unsuccessful, please prepare your camera model, SN number, and order number, and then seek assistance from the APP – > Support Center.

What should I do if my camera shows ‘offline’?

Step 1: Power Cycle the Camera:

–Unplug your camera’s power adapter for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

–For Battery Cameras: Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged. Please connect it to power for 3-5 hours to rule out a low battery issue. Check if the camera will back online after power cycle the camera.

Step 2: Reset & Re-pair the Camera (If Still Offline):

–Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until you hear a beep or “Reset is successful” (The indicator light should be flashing red and blue alternately/blue (white) light blinks twice and then pauses.)

–Open the app, tap “+” or “Add Device”, select your camera model, and choose “Wi-Fi connection by QR code” to set it up again.

Step 3: Notes on Connection:

–Ensure your phone and the camera are connected to the same appropriate WiFi network. (Some cameras support dual band WiFi, while others only support 2.4GHz WiFi. You can enter the product details through the order to search for relevant instructions.)

–During setup, place the camera within 3 feet (1 meter) from your router.

–Double-check your WiFi password (≤128 characters, no spaces).

What should I do if my camera frequently disconnects?

Step 1: Optimize Camera Position & Power

–Check Installation Position:

Indoor Cameras: It is recommended to place the camera within 5 meters (16 feet) of the router, avoiding obstacles like thick walls or metal cabinets.

Outdoor Cameras: It is recommended to place the camera within 8 meters (26 feet) of the router, and ensure the antenna (if any) is oriented towards the router.

–Verify Power Source:

Battery Cameras: Check if the battery level is sufficient. Try using a different charging cable or solar panel for testing. Please note that low temperatures can significantly reduce battery life.

Plug-in Cameras: Confirm the power cord and adapter are working. Try using a different power cord and adapter set to rule out poor contact.

Step 2: Restart Your Network Equipment

–Restart Router & Modem: Unplug the power of your router, wait for 30 seconds, then plug them back in. This clears temporary caches and resets the network connection.

–Wait for Full Reboot: After restarting, allow 2-3 minutes for your network to fully restore before checking if the camera connection stabilizes.

Step 3: Improve Wi-Fi Environment

–Test with a Different Network: Try connecting the camera to another network, such as a 2.4GHz mobile hotspot from your phone. If the connection remains stable, the issue likely lies with your main home network.

–Check Router Settings: Access your router’s admin panel. Ensure features like IP Address Reservation/MAC Filtering are not blocking the camera.

Step 4: Reset & Reconfigure the Camera If the above steps don’t help, refresh the camera’s network configuration:

–Perform a Factory Reset: Hold the camera’s Reset button for about 10-15 seconds until you hear a prompt or the indicator light flashes.

–Re-setup the Device: Set up the camera as a new device by scanning the QR code again and completing the network configuration.

Step 5: Update Firmware Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues: –

-In the app, go to Camera Settings > Device Information. Check the Firmware Version line. If there is a red dot notification, tap it and update the camera firmware.

–Restart the camera after updating and test the connection stability.

What should I do if my plug-in camera cannot start after being plugged in?

1.Test the camera with a different power outlet. If possible, try using a different power cable or plug (if compatible).

2.Check if the outlet itself is functioning by plugging in another device. This will help determine whether the issue is related to the power source, cable, or the camera itself.

3.After confirming the cable and outlet are functional, plug in the camera again. Then press and hold the reset button for more than 15s to check if the lights are on.

What should I do if my battery camera doesn’t charge?

Please fully charge the camera using the provided cable for 6–8 hours before using. If the camera cannot be charged with a power cord, please try the following in order:

1.Check the Power Source • Try using a different power cable, outlet, or plug to rule out any issues with the original power supply.

2. Allow Sufficient Charging Time

• Once connected to a working power source, let the camera charge continuously for 6–8 hours.

• After charging, press and hold the POW button to turn the camera on and check whether it has retained charge.

What should I do if the solar panel of my camera doesn’t seem to charge?

To diagnose the issue accurately, please try the following methods:

1. Try adjusting the installation position of the solar panel and wipe the panel surface clean. Also, check if the power cable is damaged (if any). After confirming that the condition of the solar panel, please open the app on a sunny day to check if the camera is charging.

2. Try charging the camera using a power cord.

Next Steps Based on Your Test Results:

1. If it charges normally with power cord: the issue is with the original solar panel.

2. If it does not charge with power cord: the problem may originate from the camera’s internal charging circuit or battery.

What should I do if the battery life of my camera is too short?

Here are some steps to help reduce battery consumption:

1. Enable Power-saving mode in Motion Detection to reduce unnecessary recordings and alerts.

2. In Settings → Light & Night Vision, turn on [Automatic Infrared mode] so that infrared lighting activates only when needed.

3. If the camera is placed in a high-activity area (e.g., an entrance), set a custom schedule in [Motion Alert] to limit notifications during quieter periods.

If you have a solar camera, here are some tips to help enhance charging efficiency:

1. Seasonal Charging Tip During autumn and winter when sunlight is less intense, we recommend periodically charging the camera directly via the power cable to supplement solar power and maintain optimal battery levels.

2. Optimize Solar Panel Setup

A. Ensure the solar panel is positioned to face direct sunlight without shading, and adjust its angle seasonally for maximum exposure.

B. Regularly clean the panel surface from dust, leaves, or snow to maintain charging efficiency.

3. Check Physical Connections If the camera is connected to the solar panel through a power cable, please confirm that the cable is securely plugged in at both ends. A loose connection can interrupt charging.

How to set up motion detection push notifications?

1. In the app’s [Me] section → [General Settings] → Turn on [App Notification] — including Alert, System, and Marketing Notifications;

2. In the app’s [Devices] section →camera [Settings] → [Motion Alerts] → [Notify all alerts without recognition];

3. Enable “Record Alerts and Notify” using the bell icon next to the camera settings.

Why can’t my alert play?

1. Please confirm if your Alert is a video or an image.

You can modify the attachment type in camera [Settings] > [Motion alerts] > [Attachment for alerts].

2. Please confirm that your phone’s network is working properly.

Playing videos requires good network conditions.

Why is the alert video so short?

Alerts are designed to notify users of potential risks and to optimize server storage usage. Therefore, alert clips are kept short and are only stored for the most recent 7 days. We recommend saving any important content promptly.

If you would like to record longer videos, you may consider using a TF card for local storage or subscribing to a cloud storage plan.

1. Prepare a TF Card:

When the camera is online, insert your TF card into the camera’s slot. We recommend a TF card (micro SD card) in exFAT or FAT32 format, with a maximum capacity of 128GB for smooth recording and storage. After insertion, the [Memory card storage] option will appear in the camera’s settings interface. Tap on it to enter and enable recording.

2. Playing Back from TF Card:

On the camera’s live view page, tap the Playback option at the bottom, then tap the card icon to watch your recordings.

1. Subscribe a cloud plan you need:

When connecting a camera to the VMAX A1, it is important to know what video signal that camera uses to stream its video.  If the DVR is not assigned to use the same video signal as the camera, it may result in video display issues such as:

To change the video signal of the DVR, you will need a display monitor and USB mouse directly connected to the VMAX A1 unit.  Without these peripheral devices, you will not be able to manage the system.

Note:  If your DVR is no longer using the default login credentials and you have forgotten your password, you may submit a password recovery request for instructions to reset the password.

Note:  The DVR is set to automatically detect and use the video type of the camera, by default.  However, it may be necessary to change the Video Type manually, depending on the camera model.

First Generation VMAX A1 Series (2.1 MP) Camera Connection

Since its initial release, the VMAX A1 Series (2.1 MP) has since been improved upon and now features a second generation model as well.  However, a common issue with the first generation VMAX A1 is that when connected cameras are using different video signals and are not organized by signal type, video loss will occur, affecting the archived video as well.

This article will outline how to organize the camera BNC connections for a first generation VMAX A1 (2.1 MP) recording unit to avoid video signal conflicts.

Note:  This article focuses on camera connection setup with the first generation of the VMAX A1 analog recording unit.  You can determine if you are using a First Generation (VAH) or Second Generation (HDR) unit by inspecting the first three letters of the Serial Number, located on the sticker, on top of the DVR.

Camera Connections

When connecting cameras to a first generation VMAX A1 DVR, you will need to consider the video type that the camera is using.

The recording unit supports the following video signal types:

In order to prevent video loss within the DVR, the BNC connections of the cameras to the DVR must be organized by video type.

When looking at the back of the VMAX A1, imagine that the BNC connectors are grouped into ‘blocks’ of four (4) BNC connectors. As long as the cameras in each group of four are using the same signal type, video will display.

For example, in images Example 1 and Example 2 below, the connected cameras are all using the same signal type, resulting in successfully displayed video.

In image Example 3, the connected cameras are using two different video types, but are grouped into ‘blocks’ of four, so that each group is comprised of the same video type. However, if you were to mix an AHD camera in with the TVI camera group, there would be video display issues.

It is worth noting that rather than having to figure out how to organize a camera into a group, you may be able to change the camera’s video signal instead, depending on the camera model.  This may be particularly useful if the new camera is not using the same signal as the cameras that are already grouped together.

Replacing A Hard Drive For A VMAX A1 32-Channel (2.1 MP)

Hard Drive Replacement

The VMAX® A1 allows users to monitor live camera video and to archive footage to a local storage drive.  This internally installed hard drive permits users to store and review previously recorded footage, regardless of Internet connection status.

In the event of an issue, the recording unit can be troubleshot to resolve most recording problems. However, in the rare event of a hard drive failure, the internal storage drive may need to be replaced.

DISCLAIMER:  If you are opening a VMAX® A1 Plus unit to replace a pre-installed HDD, the warranty for the unit will become voided.  Digital Watchdog will not be liable for the loss of data or consequential damages (including without limitation, damage to recording media) resulting from this process.

Replacing the Drive:

Prior to replacing the hard drive, make sure that you will be using an approved hard drive model as the replacement.

To replace the hard drive, follow the steps below:

**Note:  For a soft-shutdown, if you are currently logged in at the DVR, click on the power icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the Live View screen, then select Shutdown.

Alternatively, right-click on Live View screen, then select Shutdown.

**Note:  If your VMAX® A1 32-channel unit has more than one hard drive, it is recommended to format one drive at a time.

**Note:  If your DVR continues to experience recording issues, please consult with Digital Watchdog Technical Support as there may be additional hardware or software issues occurring with the unit.

Connecting to VMAX A1 (2.1 MP) Using Pathfinder

Pathfinder

The P2P PathFinder function lets you securely view your system on your iOS® devices by scanning a QR code in the recorder’s settings menu. PathFinder allows users to connect, view, playback and search video from their DW® video surveillance solutions with no need for complicated port forwarding.

This article will outline how to enable Pathfinder on your VMAX® A1 recording unit and how to connect with DW Mobile (iOS).

**NOTE:  Pathfinder is a P2P (peer-to-peer) service which requires a strong Internet connection.  If your Internet connection is slow, you are using a Firewall or SonicWall, or are using a VPN, you may encounter connection issues through the Pathfinder function.

If you are using a Firewall or SonicWall, use of a direct connection or DDNS, outlined in Network Setup For A VMAX A1 (2.1 MP), is recommended instead.

**NOTE:  Pathfinder is only available for the 2nd generation VMAX® A1. You can identify if your model is from the supported generation by locating the product label on top of the unit and confirming that the serial number starts with “HDR”.

PathFinder End-of-Life (EOL)

Please be aware that the previous PathFinder v1.0 utility in the VMAX A1 models will have been replaced as of January 17, 2022.

PathFinder v1.0 remained available for use up until January 2022.  The newer PathFinder v2.0 service ONLY supports the VMAX A1 Plus (5 MP) and VMAX IP Plus recorder models. VMAX A1 (2 MP) legacy models may still use direct-connection (IP address, DDNS) for remote connections through a mobile device.

To enable Pathfinder:

**NOTE:  If the Pathfinder Status does not show that the status is successful, confirm that the firmware of the VMAX® A1 is up-to-date and check the Network settings for any errors.

If your network is using a Firewall or SonicWall, the Pathfinder service will not be able to communicate with the P2P service.

Setting Up DW Mobile (iOS)

To connect your DW Mobile (iOS) application to the VMAX® A1 through Pathfinder:

The benefits of having your VMAX A1 recorder connected to your router include the ability to monitor the DVR from your phone or computer, access to the FTP server for firmware updates, and access to other functions of the DVR (Email Notification, Pathfinder, Push-Notifications, etc).

This guide will explain the basic steps for connecting the VMAX A1 to a network for LAN connection and for WAN connection.

Supported/Affected Devices

Local Area Network (LAN) Setup

The first portion of the Network Setup is to configure the DVR to communicate over the Local Area Network (LAN), so that you can view your system remotely when you are onsite.

Note:  Network information in the included images may appear differently than what displays at your DVR.  This information is determined by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the router that you are using.

Testing LAN Connection (Optional)

It is recommended to test the communication between the DVR and a local device over the Local Area Network (LAN).

If you have a computer connected to the same LAN as the DVR, open a web browser and enter the DVR’s IP Address into the address bar.  If the DVR has been assigned a Network Port value of anything other than 80, you will also need to specify the Network Port value in the address bar.

Example:

DVR IP:  192.168.1.90

Network Port:  8245

Example URL for connecting from a browser:  http://192.168.1.90:8245

If the address is entered correctly and the DVR is communicating over the LAN, the DVR’s Web Viewer will display.  The User ID and Password will be the same login that is used at the DVR as well (Default:  admin/— (no password)).

Note:  Please be aware that the Web Viewer requires the use of the ActiveX plugin “WebACS” to stream video to your browser. Use of Internet Explorer is recommended viewing streams from your browser is intended. Otherwise, you should still have access to the DVR’s menus and settings.

Alternatively, you may test the LAN connection from a mobile application (DW VMAX or DW Mobile).

Wide Area Network (WAN) Setup

If your DVR communicates successful over LAN, the next step is to set up the network for Wide Area Network (WAN) connection, so that you can view your system when you are offsite.

Port Forwarding Example

Custom settings in your router called “Port Forwarding Rules” will need to be created for remote connection over WAN.  If you prefer to DIY, there are different self-help guides and websites that will walk you through the process.  For example, PortForward.com (https://portforward.com/router.htm) has a variety of guides available for different router manufacturers and models.

Note:  If you are unfamiliar with router networking, we recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or camera Installer for assistance.

To create Port Forwarding Rules, you will want to have the DVR’s IP Address, Gateway, and the Network Port handy, as the port rule will be specified by device.

Note:  The login information is not your Wi-Fi information.

Note:  Depending on the router, Port Forwarding may also be referred to as “Pinholes”, “Single-Port”, or “Port Range Forwarding”.

Checking Port Forwarding Status

Once the Port Forwarding rule has been created, you can test the port status.

This site pulls the Public IP Address of the router and allows you to test port forwarding rules. You will want your port to show successfully open.  If the status shows an error or failure, make sure that your DVR is still communicating over LAN and that there are not typos in the Port Forwarding Rule.

DDNS Address Setup

Routers will typically change their Public IP Addresses regularly, unless you are paying for a subscribed Static IP Address service with your ISP (Internet Service Provider).  Instead of having to regularly check that the Public IP Address of your network has not changed, we recommend the use of a DDNS address.

The DDNS is a static “stand-in” address for your router’s Public IP Address that can be configured through the DVR.

To set up a DDNS address for your DVR:

Note:  Use of dyndns.com as the server is for a special setup if a third-party DDNS service will be utilized for remote connection with the DVR.

Note:  The DDNS will accept alphanumeric characters only.  Do not use spaces or special characters (!?$&#@) in the Host Name.

Summary

Network Setup for the VMAX A1 is complete!  Remember that the address used for connection with the DVR is dependent on the type of network that is being used.

Upgrading Firmware For A VMAX A1 (2.1MP)

DISCONTINUED PRODUCT:  As of October 2021, the VMAX A1 Plus (2.1 MP) DVR Series is a discontinued product and is no longer eligible for future firmware updates.

Firmware Upgrades

Firmware is a type of computing software that is used in the management and operation of nearly all electronics.  The VMAX A1 Series DVRs utilize firmware versions to manage camera communication, user interface controls, display, and recording settings for every interaction by the user.

Periodically, the firmware version may need to be upgraded to apply new features, improvements, and other content to the DVR.

This article will explain the process for upgrading Firmware for the VMAX A1 Series DVRs using either File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a USB stick.

Supported/Affected Devices

Upgrading Firmware

Firmware upgrades for the VMAX A1 Series will need to be performed directly at the DVR.  Connect a display monitor and USB mouse to the DVR, so that you can control the user interface of the recording unit.

If you are unsure what type of display (HDMI or VGA) that your DVR supports, please consult the User Manual.

Upgrade Using FTP Function

The FTP upgrade option permits users to upgrade DVR firmware by communicating with an external FTP server over the Internet.  The last firmware version (v8.2.0.2.13) can be downloaded and installed from the FTP server.

**NOTE:  The FTP function requires a stable network and Internet connection.  If you have not set up the DVR Network settings, please read Network Setup For A VMAX A1 (2.1 MP).

Upgrade Using USB Stick

The USB upgrade option permits users to upgrade DVR firmware by inserting a USB stick and uploading the firmware file directly to the System.

The USB stick must use FAT or FAT32 format and should not exceed 32 GB in capacity.

Downloading the Firmware File for USB Upgrade

If you are upgrading the DVR firmware using a USB stick, you must first prepare a new firmware file for uploading.

To download the latest DVR firmware file:

**NOTE:  The DVR’s part number is located on the sticker located on top of the DVR.

**NOTE:  DO NOT store the firmware file in a folder. If the new firmware is in a folder, on the USB at the time of upgrade, the DVR will not be able to detect the upgrade file.

Connect iCam365 camera

Download iCam365 app

Use the “Scan” function on the mobile phone to scan the QR code to download and install the iCam365 APP.

Login iCam365 app

You need to register iCam365 account and login to use iCam365 camera.

Connect power supply

Connect the device to the power supply.
Keep it connected for about 1 minute until hearing a prompt sound.

Add iCam365 camera

There are 3 ways to connect iCam365 camera, we recommend to use ‘Scan code to add a device’ to connect camera.

Click the + icon, then scan the QR code on the iCam365 camera, the QR code is usually on the bottom or back of the camera. iCam365 APP will show the recommended way to add.

Please let the camera close to the router, and then connect the camera.

Select Connection Mode

If the QR code on the iCam365 camera is missing or not recognized, you can manually select the add method to connect the camera.

1. Click Add by type in the top right corner, select Surveillance camera, select WiFi camera.

2. Then you can choose Quickly add, Scan code to add a device and Add a device by wired network.

Quickly add – Android

Add a camera via the AP hotspot connected to the iCam365 camera.

When the ‘Camera startup is complete, waiting for network to be added‘ voice, you can start to connect iCam365 camera, if there is no voice, please reset iCam365 camera.

1. Select Quickly add, click Next > I know

2. Click CHOOSE, click the icon to select your wifi and enter your wifi password, then click NEXT.

Can’t search iCam365 camera?

Please connect iCam365 hotspot wifi manually, wifi name: AICAM_xxxxxxxxxxx.

Can’t find iCam365 hotspot wifi?
Please reset iCam365 camera.

3. After you click JOIN, your phone will automatically connect to iCam365 camera’s hotspot wifi, then wait for iCam365 camera to connect to your wifi.

After successful connection, set the camera name and you can start using iCam365 camera.

Scan code to add

Scan QR code on your mobile phone to add a iCam365 camera to pair WiFi.

When the ‘Camera startup is complete, waiting for network to be added‘ voice, you can start to connect iCam365 camera, if there is no voice, please reset iCam365 camera.

1. Select Scan code to add a device, click Next, select your wifi and enter your wifi password and click Next.

2. Let iCam365 camera scan the QR code displayed by APP, Distance 10-30 cm (3 – 11in).

3. When the iCam365 camera emits the ‘Scan QR code successfully‘ voice, click NEXT and wait for the camera to connect to wifi.

After successful connection, set the camera name and you can start using iCam365 camera.

Share Camera

You can share iCam365 camera to your family or friends.

Share the account to enjoy the permission to watch the live broadcast, intercom permission, control the rotation of the PTZ. and view video replay privileges

1.Click Share > Add new sharing, then enter your family or friend’s email or cell phone number.

2.After sharing, a sharing message will be sent to the email or number you entered, register and login to iCam365 APP and you can start using the camera.

In the sharing screen, you can click the icon on the right to delete the shared users.

Setup Recording

Before setting up the recording, you need to insert the memory card to make the recording function available.

1. Insert the memory card into the iCam365 camera, then enter the Memory card interface to see if the camera reads the memory card.

Note: When replacing or removing the card, please cut off the power first to avoid card damage and data loss.

2. Click Video recording settinas, you can set the recording mode and definition here.

· All-day video recording : Uninterrupted continuous video recording

· Event video recording : Record a video when an event is detected

· Turn off : The device will stop recording a video after turn-off

Video Definition: The higher the storage resolution, the clearer the recorded video will be, while the more storage capacity taken up and the less the total recording time. Please choose the storage resolution according to your own situation.

View Video

Click the video icon to view the video, the time with color means there is recording at the current time.

Setup Detection

1. Click Detection settings and select the detection sensitivity. You can also set the Detection area.

Detection area: Increase or decrease the area by clicking on the screen,The red area is the monitoring alarm area, and the full screen will be detected after reset:

2. Click Notification settings, open Turn on notification and Motion detected to detect and receive alarm notifications.

In order to receive the alarm notification in time, it is recommended to set the Notification interval to 1 minute.

Warning voice

Turn on the Warning voice message, when the iCam365 camera detects an intruder, the camera will send a warning voice to scare off the intruder.

Setup Intelligent tracking

Turn on Intelligent tracking, when iCam365 camera detects human or pet movement, the camera will track the movement of the object.

Alarm message

By clicking on the icon, you can view the Alarm message, and by clicking on the message, you can view the details.

Lighting and night vision

In the Lighting and night vision screen, you can set the light lamp and Night vision mode.

White light lamp

· Automatic: The white light lamp is turned on when an event is found at night, and automatically turns off after the event is over.

Night vision mode

· Automatic ：When the light is poor, the infrared night vision mode is automatically turned on.

· Always in the night vision mode ： Suitable for a dim-lighted environment

· Turn off the night vision mode ：Suitable for an environment where the light is always bright

Reset iCam365 camera

1.Turn on the power and wait for the camera to start

2.Press and hold the reset button (about 5 seconds) until the camera sounds a voice prompt

Setting management	Click‘’on the home page or click “” on the real-time page to enter the setting management. On the setting page, you can modify device names, purchase services, share devices, access Store Settings, Screen Settings and other Settings.
Binocular camera	If you are purchasing a binocular camera, the following function are currently supported: 1. supports the Picture-in-Picture display. You can click Picture-in-Picture to enable or disable the function. 2. supports the switch between the small picture and the big picture. Click the long shot or close shot or small picture to switch. 3. its Playback function also supports the switch between the small picture and big picture and enabling/disabling of the small picture window.

How to fix not connecting to iCam365 camera?

Fix can’t connect to wifi

iCam365 camera can not connect to wifi usually caused by the following problems, you can follow the guide below to fix the problem of not connecting to wifi.

1. Make sure the iCam365 camera is currently in waiting connection mode.

· After the camera is powered on, wait for the camera to start up (about 30 seconds), the camera will send out a voice prompt ‘Camera start up is complete, waiting for the network to be added’.

· No voice prompt, please reset the iCam365 camera

2. Make sure iCam365 camera supports your wifi.

iCam365 camera only supports 2.4Ghz wifi, wifi name and password support English, alphabet and numbers.

3. Please put the camera next to the router, and then connect the camera

5. Change the mode to connect to iCam365 camera

iCam365 supports two modes of camera connection.

· The camera can not scan the QR code, please try to use Quickly add.

· If you can’t connect to AP hotspot, please try Scan code to add.

6. Reboot the router, sometimes the router fails to connect to the new device.

Voice Troubleshooting

If the above problem can not fix the wifi connection problem, please follow the iCam365 camera’s voice prompts to fix the problem.

Voice: Router connection failed, please reconfigure the network

It means iCam365 camera can’t connect to wifi, please check your wifi information and reset the camera to reconnect.

Voice: Receiving wifi information, connecting to server

It means iCam365 camera can’t connect to the internet, maybe the camera is too far away from the router, please get closer to the router.

Voice: Please program the ID number.

This may be a Chinese voice, iCam365 camera does not program ID, can not use.
We suggest you to return the camera directly, or contact your seller for support, you need a computer to fix this prob.

After iCam365 camera start, there is no ‘camera start up is complete, waiting for the network to add’ voice, after resetting the camera, there is no voice either.

iCam365 camera hardware failure, please return the camera.

How to fix iCam365 camera offline?

Follow these steps to fix iCam365 camera offline problem.

1.Restart the iCam365 camera

3.Reset the iCam365 camera to reconnect.

If the above steps can fix the camera but it is often offline, then the camera may be too far away from the router, we recommend to move closer to the router.
Or please check the following issues in order:

1.Make sure the iCam365 camera has power

2.Make sure the iCam365 camera is connected to the router is normal

3.If you have changed the Wi-Fi or password, please reset the camera to reconnect

4.iCam365 camera is not too far away from the router, separated by walls or other obstructions

5.Take out the memory card, then restart the iCam365 camera, if the camera works normally, then it is the problem of memory card, please replace the memory card or format the memory card

What WiFi does the iCam365 camera support?

1. The camera does not support 5G frequency WiFi, if it is connected, please switch to 2.4G frequency WiFi
2. wifi name and password are recommended to use English, English symbols and numbers, can not contain Chinese and special characters.
3. the router can not open such as AP isolation, anti-scratch, black/white list and other options to restrict WiFi access
4. The camera does not support WPA/WPA2 enterprise WiFi for the time being

Why can’t I connect iCam365 camera.

Check if the WiFi password is correct, and if the network is connected correctly, reset the camera.Add the device again when the above operation is done.

The recording is divided into event recording and round-the-clock recording. Event recording:
The camera records the triggering event until its end. It keeps recording if the event keeps triggering it.

Round-the-clock recording: The camera records round the clock.

How should I download the video to my mobile phone?

1. Click the Recording button “ ” while viewing the playback video.
2. Click the Stop button” ” when the playback is finished, and the video will automatically be saved to the album.

Why iCam365 camera is offline?

First, check if the power supply and the network are normal. If they are normal, power off the camera and restart it. If the device is still offline after restarted, eliminate the camera in the APP and add it again.

Why does the iCam365 camera show no memory card?

1. The camera does not support hot-plugging. You need to power off the camera to insert the memory card. Please restart the camera.
2. If the memory card still cannot be identified after the camera is restarted, please replace it with a new card and try again.
3. If the new card still cannot be identified, the card slot may be damaged, or there is a failure in the FFC. Contact the supplier to replace the device.

What shall I do if the memory card is full?

No need to handle it manually. The camera automatically overwrites the earliest video documents when the spare space of its memory card is 500M or less.

iCam365 For PC

iCam365 For PC only has simple functions, watch live video, view footage, control rotation, voice intercom. Only in the iCam365 app can you set up the camera.

You need to add a camera in the iCam365 app and then log in to iCam365 For PC, you will be able to see the camera.

In recent years, Network Video Recorders (NVRs) have become increasingly popular. These devices are similar to DVRs but use network cameras (IP cameras) instead of analog cameras. NVRs offer more flexibility and advanced features like remote viewing, cloud storage, and integration with other smart home devices.

Setup and Installation Your DVR Devices

Connecting your DVR, Cameras, BNC or Coaxial cables, and Power Adapter

Depending on the type of camera or DVR kit you purchased, you may receive two different types of BNC “Bayonet Neill–Concelman” cables for the cameras. Our BNC or Coaxial cables are color coded based on the camera resolution it’s used for.

	Purple – ULC Certified BNC cables for 4K cameras (e.g. PRO-4KMSB). It can also be used on any cameras below 4K and Analog cameras with BNC connector.
	Blue / Light Blue – for TVI and AHD cameras like the PRO-T855 and PRO-1080MSB or those that use pixels (e.g. 720p, 1080p) which determines their resolution (except SDI cameras). It can also be used on any Analog cameras with BNC connector but not with 4K.

How to properly connect

2.Connect the BNC cable properly to the DVR VIDEO IN ports by twisting to lock in.

• Note: If connecting one or add-on camera only, the extension power cable can be directly to connected to the power adapter (PSU).

How do I see the Setup or Startup Wizard of my DVR / NVR?

1. You need a TV or monitor with an HDMI or VGA port.

The Startup Wizard of the DVR / NVR can only be seen from a TV or monitor that is connected via HDMI cable or VGA cable to the DVR / NVR. It is not possible to set up the Startup Wizard via mobile phone nor via laptop / desktop computer (unless your computer has a VGA IN or HDMI IN port. Most computers only have HDMI OUT. Please contact your computer manufacturer). Please see What kind of TV or monitor is compatible with my DVR / NVR?

2. The DVR / NVR must be new out of the box or factory reset

Upon turning on the recorder for the first time, you will get the Startup Wizard. If a password was already set up in the DVR / NVR, then you cannot change the password anymore until you remember your password or perform a password reset (system factory reset).

If you do not know the password of your DVR / NVR, please see How to reset the password or get the recovery code of your DVR/NVR/NVW. By resetting the password, you will be able to get the Startup Wizard to set a new password.

3. If you know the password, you can still access the Startup Wizard to change other settings

Right-click to see the task bar. Then left-click on the wand icon beside date and time on the task bar to pull up the Startup Wizard. You must enter your DVR / NVR’s password to proceed in the Startup Wizard.

Connecting a wired camera to a VCR

Firstly, ensure the camera is connected to mains power and is powered up.

The easiest way to check this is cup your hand around the front of the camera, hold it to your eye and look for the red LED’s to light up. Once that is completed take the video cable from the camera which is usually a yellow RCA plug and connect it to the video “INPUT” or “IN” plug on the back or front of your VCR.

Make sure that Yellow goes to video (usually yellow on the VCR as well) and that audio (usually either white or red, or both) goes to the white or red plugs. These plugs will be the same ones you would connect something like an Xbox or play station to.

Once that is done, please turn on your TV and set your TV up in the same way you would to watch a VCR tape, and once done, please put a VHS tape with a previous recording on it in your VCR and press play.

If you cannot see the VCR tape playing you will need to check your channel settings and try to get it working correctly before we can continue.

Once you can see the tape being played, this means the VCR is sending a signal to your TV correctly and we can try to tune the VCR into the camera now.

Please look on your VCR remote for buttons called “INPUT” or “INPUT SELECT”, or you can try setting the VCR channel to “1” and scroll down in channels. We are looking for an input channel that will take the video footage from the RCA connections we are using, this will usually be called something line “Line 1”, “Video” or “Video1”, “Game”, “Aux” or “Auxiliary”, or sometimes “Input”.

Once we hit this channel your camera picture should appear on the screen right away and you can hit record on your VCR when it has a tape inside, and it will record everything you camera sees.

After this has been completed, your TV does not actually need to be there anymore, we merely use it to test the channel with the VCR and to check playback. You may switch off or even remove the TV if you wish once you have the correct channel on the VCR and know you can see your camera footage.

If the recorder outputs a display on your screen but not your preferred connection, usually all that is required is to change the resolution. Your manual has instructions on where to find the resolution configuration, but here are the key points you need to remember:

Did you know that most issues with recording, night vision, and video quality are based on incorrect location of camera installation? Any product that has not been installed in accordance with the installation instructions or damaged due to incorrect installation will void any warranty claim.

Follow all these tips to prevent such issues:

• If installing outdoors, ensure the camera is mounted below an eave or roof covering to reduce exposure and extend the lifespan of the camera.

• Although the sky looks nice when you look at the live view from your cameras, it is an unlikely direction for an offender to approach. Make sure your cameras have minimal sky in it as the light in daylight can make the foreground of the image darker. Also see Why is the Swann camera live view in black and white?

• It’s recommended to mount your cameras at an elevated position where the direction of activity is cross-wise in the camera’s field of view. Place your cameras as close to the area of interest as practicable.  If mounted too high, the distance may be extended beyond the camera’s PIR range. The best position for a bullet camera is above looking slightly down, keeping in mind the details you are looking for. Here is an example for 2 different types of cameras and the max distance for recording:

The SWIFI-CORECAM has a PIR range of up to 26ft / 8m from the sensor’s location, not the floor distance.

The PRO-4KRL camera has a PIR range of up to Up to 32ft/10m from the sensor’s location, not the floor distance.

• The distance between the camera and subject is a factor in how often it triggers the camera to record. The PIR can reliably detect movement up to 30ft/9m; movement beyond this range may or may not be detected. It will less likely detect heat and motion from a neighbour’s property. Here are examples of ideal distances and angles of view:

• The viewing angle of the camera’s location can also cause unwanted recordings or none.

Can I add a second device to the app?

For smooth live streaming, it is highly suggested to set the substream’s bitrate to its lowest for the unit not to consume too much bandwidth and lessen intermittent connection if ever.

1.Go to MENU > Record.

2.Proceed to PARAMETERS > Substream.

3.Pick a channel on Camera.

4.Set the Video Quality to its lowest possible bitrate.
NOTE: lowest bitrate varies depending on the DVR or NVR.

5.Click on Copy to replicate the settings to other channels.

Getting network information

2.Check if Enable DHCP is checked. By default, it is checked meaning it is on DHCP.

3.You can write the UID code for you to have your own copy in case you’re away from the unit.

Choosing a download path

1.Open SwannView Plus software and go to SYSTEM > System Configuration.

2.Take note of the Saving Path of Video File as this is where you will go to retrieve the exported file. Default will be C:\SwannView Plus\video for Windows.

Downloading recordings

1.Click on VIEW > Remote Playback or if you are on Control Panel, just look for Remote Playback.

4.Hover your mouse to the box at the right and icons will appear. Click the Download icon.

5.Choose a file by clicking its check box at the left.

6.Click the Download button to start downloading.

Setup email information

Using the mouse connected to the NVR, right-click then go to MENU > Configuration .

1.Go to NETWORK > Email.

2.Decide on what email address you will use for the Sender.

Since setting up the email to the NVR is done and test email was successful, we now need to enable the feature to the channels we want to receive alerts from.

Port Forwarding

We need to make sure that the Server port and HTTP port of your DVR or NVR are open before we jump on mobile access. Here are few things to do.

1.Using a computer connected to the same router where your DVR or NVR is connected, open a browser and go to www.canyouseeme.org.

2.On the Port to check field, change 80 to 85 and click Check port. Do the same step for port 8000 and 554.
NOTE: 85, 8000, and 554 are the default ports of your DVR or NVR. 85 is the HTTP port, 8000 is the Server port, and 554 is the RTSP port. You can double check this information if you access your DVR’s menu and go to Configuration > Network > More Settings.

Installing SwannView Plus app

The first step is to download the necessary software to your PC. A link to the software is below.

After you have acquired the software, proceed to install it. The software has a generic installation procedure that most computer users should be familiar with.

Immediately upon running the software, you may receive this prompt. This is a Windows security prompt, to make sure that malicious software cannot be installed without your knowledge. Click Yes to continue.

The installer opens to this window. Click Next.

Choose language and hit Next.

The default location is displayed here. You may choose a custom location if you wish.

Click Next.

Click Install to commence the installation. A progress bar will appear.

The first time you run SADP, you may receive this prompt. As the SADP software requires network access, Windows Firewall will detect that activity and request your permission for the software to access the network. Do not adjust the check boxes. Click Allow Access to continue.

5.Repeat steps 2 to 4 for other channels or click Copy to copy the settings to other channels.

How do I access the cameras on my computer?

Go Here, login using with the credentials you used to sign up with. You will see your devices at the top, click ACCESS and it will launch a new tab for that device. This info can also be found by going to our website and downloading it Here 

How do I network the unit so it can be viewed remotely?

First you want to make sure you plug the unit into your router. Now on the unit login, then right click on the mouse and go to Menu> System> Network. You can set the IP Address under “TCP/IP”. Once you’ve entered your IT information go to “P2P” across the top. Make sure it is enabled. Below you will see the server address Here. You will go there and create an account then link the unit with your account. See Link below for more detailed instructions. Here

How do I connect a third party camera?

You will need a PC and the manufacturers IP tool to address the camera(s) IP address within the same scheme as the internal NIC of the NVR (172.16.0.x). Now go to the camera management within the NVR, switch the port that the camera(s) are plugged into from PNP to IP address, protocol will be ONVIF, port will be 80 (HTTP port of the camera) and type in the username and password of the camera and it should connect. Some manufacturers require ONVIF to be enabled within the camera before adding to different unit. Please check their website for information on how to enable ONVIF.

Why can’t I use Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari to view my device(s)?

Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari took away a plugin that was used for ActiveX plugins. This has effected anyone that uses an ActiveX plugin for their devices not just InVid.

Why is my Vision camera not connecting to the NVR?

That may be due to the NVR having the old default password of 123456. Leave the camera plugged into the unit and go to Menu>Camera then click on the “cog” (gear looking icon) next to the port of the camera you are trying to connect. Type in the password “1234567u” for the camera and the camera should then connect.

Why did my device suddenly go offline?

If you are connected to your ISP’s router (Internet Service Provider) occasionally it is possible your ISP is doing a update which can occasionally change your network environment and require a reboot of your router/recorder (Router first then recorder). It is highly recommended that with this device to install your own router to run the recorder to avoid this from happening, however if using your ISP’s router the above stated solution is the fix for it.

How do I Share a device added to my star4live account?

Have the new user create an account Here. Log into the account with your device, click on SHARE, enter in the customers user name or email, choose a “valid to date”, when this date hits the device will no longer be shared, and hit ok. The device will now be found under the Shared Record. This info can also be found by going to our website and downloading it Here

Trying to view devices on IE but can’t download the plugins?

Please ensure you are in fact using Internet Explorer and not Edge. The two have similar icons, Edge is a darker blue lower case “e” whereas Internet Explorer is a lighter blue lower case “e” with a yellow ring going over the top left of the “e”. Also note that on Windows 10 Edge is the default browser, Internet Explorer isn’t on the task bar or the desktop, you can use Cortana and search “Internet Explorer” to launch.

How do I turn On/Off motion function?

Right click on the mouse, go to the menu>alarm>motion. By default motion detection should be enabled. You want to draw the area of where you want motion to be detected and then hit apply down at the bottom.

How can I see video from last week?

To playback video you want to right click on the mouse and the second to last option on the bottom is “Playback”. On your right you will select which cameras you will like to playback, below the camera list select the date in which the video was recorded. Hit the play button down at the bottom and the playback should start.

How do I add a User?

Right click on mouse go to Menu>System>User. Click Add at the bottom. Create the username and password then select permissions you want to grant that user and hit OK.

How do I format my hard drive? Vision Series

Go to Menu, click on Storage, click on Hard Disk, select your disk(s) and click Format (remember, this erases all data on that drive(s)).

Do I need to port forward this device? Vision

If you’re using the P2P which is explained above no port forwarding is required, if you are networking this device to be seen remotely via a WAN IP or DDNS, yes port forwarding is required.

Where can I check to see if my unit is recording?

Is my unit up to date with its firmware?

To find out if the unit is up to date Locally, you want to go to the Menu, select Maintain on your left then Upgrade. Now select “Upgrade by Cloud” (across the top) then hit “Check” in bottom right had corner. To find out if the unit is up to date Remotely, you want to go to Setup, then Maintenance then Maintenance again and hit “Check New Version”. If it is the latest firmware it will say “The current version is already the latest.” If it is not up to date then you will be prompted to upgrade, which will download the file from the cloud, upgrade and restart your NVR.

How do you check to see if an upgrade is available for the Vision NVR?

How to Access Device from Web

This guide is valid for models 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16.

When devices are connected to the network, they can also be accessible from a computer. The first thing you need to make sure of is that the computer you are using and the DVR/NVR are connected to the same network (network is coming from the same router for both devices). You will first need to obtain the IP address of the DVR/NVR from Menu → System → Network → IPv4 address.

After noting the IP address of your device, open Internet Explorer and in the address search bar type in the DVR/NVR IP address. If the NVR and the computer are on the same network then it will pull up the login page of the DVR/NVR. The credentials will be the same as when you log into the local interface of your device.

How to Find the Serial Number Using 2M Tool

2M Tool is used to find the IP address of your 2M NVR, DVR, or IP camera, as well as limited management of its settings. You only need to make sure that the computer you are using 2M Tool on is connected to the same network as the device that you are trying to search for.

Why do we need the serial number? The serial number is mainly used in case of a customer needing a password reset on their device.

How do we find the serial number? There are a few ways to find the number:

In the case that you forget the password for you device in which you will not be able to access the web page, and the camera is too high up to reach to find the sticker, you can use 2M Tool to find the serial number. 2M Tool does not automatically show the number; you must force it to show. First, you will need to click on the Settings icon to show the options:

Then another window will open where you can select Serial Number to show.

Once you hit OK, the serial number will then appear.

How to Install Plugin for Internet Explorer

This article features screenshots from our 2MN-8XXX series NVR and our 2MT-4XXX series DVR, but the same principle will apply to any other recorder. This is because each recorder requires a plugin in order to view the cameras on the web page. You will have to manually install the plugin, but it is usually always provided as a link for easy access.

First, you must make sure that you are using Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is the only browser that can support these plugins. It is possible for some devices to be viewed on Google Chrome or even Firefox, but then other functions are very limited so it is highly not recommended to use those browsers. Once Internet Explorer is open, and you navigate to the device’s web page by entering the IP address, there should be a link shown on the page. You can see on the picture below that the link is located on the top of the page.

When you click on the link, a pop-up will appear on the bottom of the page that will let you choose whether to Run the program or Save the program onto your computer. Note: Running the program will not save it. If you wish to save the program, please select Save. Once it has finished downloading, then you can run the program from the file location.

If you choose to Run the program, an error message will appear noting that the publisher couldn’t be verified. This is no issue; the plugin will not cause any harm to your computer. Hit Run, and run the installation. Some installations will require you to close out of Internet Explorer in order to complete the setup.

Once the setup is complete, refresh the page, and another message will pop-up on the bottom that asks you to Allow the add-on to run. Select Allow, and log into the page. Now you should be able to view your cameras on the web page.

How to Set Up 2M Guard

2M Guard is the phone app that we use for our NVR’s to view cameras from our phones offsite.

This app only works for models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16 and our IP cameras.

How to Set Up 2M Station

2M Station is the PC software to view your cameras on your computer on and offsite. This program only works with models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16, and our IP cameras

When first running the program, it will prompt you for a username and password which will be admin/123456 by default. It is recommended that you change the password after installation.

Once you are logged in it will show the menu. Click on Device Management to add any devices. On the left side make sure that Encoding Device is selected. It will show at the bottom of the screen any devices that are online as long as the computer is on the same network as the devices.

There are two methods to add an online device. The first method is fairly simple. All you need to do is check the box for the NVR that shows under Online Device and then click Add. The second method to adding an online device is to manually add it. First click on Add next to Managed Device, and it will open another window where you can input the details of your device. It will ask for:

After putting in all of the correct information of your device, click on Add and then the device should come online.

Another method to add a device is by using the P2P method which allows for a user to view their cameras offsite from any location. The device will be added as a Cloud Device instead of an Encoding Device.

It will show Login and Register buttons that will link to your Star4Live account which will show the devices you have previously added. After logging in, it will take a minute or two for the devices to show online. At first, it will say Offline (Connecting…), but eventually the status will show Online.

After successfully adding all of your devices, go back to the menu and click on Live View to view your cameras. A list of online devices will show on the left side of the window. Click and drag the device into the window view in order to load all of the video. If not all of the cameras are wanted in view, you can click on the plus sign next to your device and it will show a list of cameras connected to the NVR. How to Set Up Email Notifications Using Gmail

This is valid for models 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, and 2MN-8232-P16.

Gmail will have automatic security settings that need to be disabled before configuring email settings in the NVR. You will need a computer in order to edit these settings. First, log on to your Gmail account and then click on the square icon in the upper right corner of the page. Click on Account.

Security → Scroll to the bottom until you find “Less secure app access” → “Allow less secure apps: ON”

Now that Gmail has been set to allow app access, we can move on to the NVR settings. These can either be configured through the web page or through the NVR itself.

Through the DVR/NVR: Main Menu → Network → Basic → Email

Through the webpage: Setup → Network → Email

After you finish entering all of the settings and the test is successful go to Camera → Motion → Select Camera → Trigger Actions → Send Email

How to Share a Device

This is only valid for models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16 and our IP cameras

Each NVR can only be added by one account at a time, so if one wants to add a device onto multiple accounts they would need to share the device with one account being the “main” account. This means that one person will have the device added to their account and that person will share the device with other people. Each person still must have their own Star4Live account.

How to share the device is simple. First, you will need to log onto the main Star4Live account which the NVR has been added to. It can be done either through the computer or your personal phone.

Sharing from Computer: after logging into the account your list of added devices will appear. Click Share on the row for the device you are wanting to share.

Then a menu will appear to enter the account you want to share to, the Valid Till date, User Rights, and any Description you want to give.

Once all of the information has been correctly filled out, click Confirm to successfully share.

Sharing from 2M Guard Phone App: after logging into your Star4Live account on the 2M Guard app, go to your Devices and then tap on the device that you want to share. A small menu will appear. Then tap Share on the bottom of the screen.

The next window will show the device and a list of the cameras that are connected and online. You can choose specific cameras, or select the device so that the entirety of its cameras are selected for sharing.

Once your device(s) has been selected, the Share menu will finally appear. The app will ask for the same information as the computer does, but it will not give a space to fill out a description. Fill out the Share To and the Valid Period the same as you would do on the desktop instructions written above. The only other difference between the Star4Live browser and the app is the sharing Type: you will be able to choose between Role or Function.

NOTE: Only admin rights will allow another user to access the device through the web browser or through 2M Station because they both allow a user to make changes to the device. If you do not wish for another user to be able to make any kind of changes (viewing only), please choose the By Function type.

Once one of these methods have been completed to share the device, the recipient only needs to log into their Star4Live account and the shared NVR should show automatically under their own device list.

How to Sign Up for Star4Live Account

Star4Live is the server that we use to view NVR and camera footage over the web. Each customer needs to have an account to view and manage their devices.

How to Upgrade the Firmware

This article applies to the models: 2MT-4004, 2MT-4008, 2MT-4088, 2MT-4016, 2MN-8004-P4, 2MN-8008-P8, 2MN-8116-P16, 2MN-8232-P16.

Every now and again, we will release a new firmware update that can either hold new features for your unit, bug fixes, or a bit of both. We have made it simple to request the newest firmware so that there is no need to wait for a file to be sent. First, you will need to make sure that your device is connected to the internet so that the NVR will be able to communicate with our servers.

Method 1: From the NVR Interface

Then you will go into the Main Menu and click on Maintain. There will be a section for Upgrade.

There are two options for upgrading:

You will most likely want to choose the Cloud Upgrade option unless you have received the firmware file from Tech Support beforehand. Click Cloud Upgrade, and wait for the device to finish its search. It will either notify you that the current version is already the latest, or it will show a newer version, and the Upgrade button will highlight at the bottom of the screen.

The upgrade time will vary between 1-5 minutes, sometimes lasting longer depending on the size of the update. Once the update has finished, the device will automatically restart. It will be ready to use again once it has fully finished the reboot.

Note: Please make sure that the device does not disconnect from the network or from power because it can cause a risk in damaging the unit if there is a failed update.

Method 2: From the Web Interface

The NVR can be updated from its web page if there is no monitor connected to the unit, or if it cannot be physically accessed. From the web page, you will navigate to Setup → Maintenance → Maintenance → Cloud Upgrade → Detect or Check for Update. The process is the same as it is from the unit itself, and the same rules will apply.

How to Use Star4Live

Star4Live is the server that we use to view NVR and camera footage over the web. Each customer needs to have an account to view and manage their devices. You must use Internet Explorer in order to access all of the functions of Star4Live.

Tip: The RJ45 cable gland is weather-resistant. Seal the cap with silicone and/or electrical tape for additional sealing if it will be exposed to precipitation regularly.

Cable extension options

You can extend the Ethernet cable run for your camera up to 300ft (91m). To extend the cable run beyond 300ft (91m), a switch will be required (sold separately). Important Installation Guidelines

The optimal installation location, including the height and angle of your camera, will depend on the type of detection settings that you want to enable. Since the optimal angle for person and vehicle detection is different from the optimal angle for face detection, you will need to select one approach.

Configure Surveillance Station for webcam recording

1. Connect a USB webcam

Connect a USB webcam to a USB port on the Turbo NAS. If the webcam is supported, it will be listed as a log showing a generic UVC camera in “Control Panel” > “System Settings” > “System Logs” on the NAS.

2. Install the QUSBCam QPKG from App Center (either Automatically or Manually)

Automatic installation: Install the QPKG from “App Center” > “Surveillance” > “QUSBCam” of the NAS.

Manual installation: Download the QUSBCam QPKG from the App Center on the QNAP website. Then you can install it by clicking the “Install Manually” button and by selecting the location of the QUSBCam QPKG to start installing.

3. Configure webcam in QUSBCam

First, open “QUSBCam”.

4. Configure Surveillance Station

a. Install Surveillance Station

Please note: To ensure proper operations of Surveillance Station, we recommend rebooting the Turbo NAS after its installation is completed.

Please note: Before applying new settings, you can click “Test” on the right to check that the connection to your webcam is successful.

After you have added the USB webcam camera to your Turbo NAS, go to the “Monitor” page. If it is your first time accessing this page in your web browser, you will have to install an ActiveX control (QMon.cab) before using Monitor or Playback functions. Please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You can use Surveillance Station in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Play Video Files from Surveillance Station

Click or to enter the playback page and follow the steps below to play video files on the remote Surveillance Station.

1. Drag and drop camera(s) from the server/camera tree to the respective playback window(s) to select the channel(s) for playback.

2. Select a playback date using  You can examine each channel to discover the time range when files were recorded using each camera. Blue cells indicate regular recording files. If it is blank, it means that no files were recorded at that time.

3. Click to begin playback. You can control the speed and playback direction by dragging the buttonto left or right of the shuttle bar.

4. Specify the time to play back the recording files. You can view a preview image on the timeline bar to search for the moment you want to play.

5. Click to control all the playback windows to play back the recording files. When this function is enabled, the playback options (play, pause, stop, previous/next frame, previous/next file, speed adjustment) will be applied to all of the playback windows.

QUSBCam2 transforms USB cameras (webcam)(*1) into IP cameras with ONVIF compatibility and full support for the RTSP protocol. Its live view does not require any extra plug-ins in your browser, and it is a handy surveillance tool for homes and small offices.

How to View a Live Stream on QUSBCam2

1.Install USB Camera
After connecting the USB camera to the NAS, the USB camera appears on the USB Device page.

2.Set as channel
After installing the USB camera, go to Channel List and click “Create Channel” to create a QUSBCam2 channel.

Set the channel name and video or audio configuration.
Note: Only MJPEG format supports the live function.

3.Check the Channel List
Go to Channel List and check if the thumbnail image of the USB camera is available. If you see the  live button, it means that the camera supports the live function.

Configure Surveillance Station for Webcam Recording

Go to “Surveillance Station” > “Camera Configuration” and then click “Add”. Select “Search camera(s) automatically” and then click “Next”.

For Search type, select “ONVIF” and then select the QUSBCam2 camera. Click “OK”.

Surveillance Station automatically completes the camera information except for the user name and password. Use the same login credentials for the NAS that you are using.

Click  to launch the QVR client to see the live video and recording.
