A- Digital or network Vide Recorder’s fan is comparable to one in a mini PC, and the sound coming out of the vent that you may hear is a sign of a DVR that’s working well.

The working fan indicates that the trapped heat is being dissipated, and the DVR can record 24/7 on the hard drive, and without this cooling mechanism, the DVR and hard drive’s life span will be shortened.

How to add IP Camera to Camius DVR (Advanced Security XVR)

Camius Trivault DVR recorders are designed to support analog security cameras via coaxial wiring and IP cameras over the Network. To add an IP camera to Camius DVR, you’d need to add PoE cameras to your local Network. Then, connect a regular network or PoE switch to the LAN port of the Camius DVR. Based on the example of a Camius 16-channel DVR, the connecting diagram illustrates this process. This system allows users to quickly and seamlessly integrate analog and IP cameras, providing greater flexibility in security camera selection.

If you are not using a PoE (power-over-ethernet) switch or a PoE injector, you can power the IP camera by connecting a UL-listed 12VDC-2AMP power supply to the DC plug on the camera and an ethernet cable between the IP camera and the router or switch on your local network.

Navigate to the DVR’s Menu >> System >> General >> Mode >> Set to XVR and Apply.

Wait 1 to 2 minutes for the surveillance DVR to reboot in a hybrid XVR mode. This switch will reset the Configuration and Password.

There are a few ways to add IP cameras to the DVR, and we will describe them below.

Adding IP Cameras in the Start Wizard

While in the Start Wizard, navigate to the Network>> Date/Time >> IP Cameras.

Click the Search button to add compatible IP cameras on your local Network. Next, select the IP camera(s) you want to add, and then click the arrow icon to add them to the DVR, followed by the Next button.

Select the suitable Protocol from the dropdown (Private is for Camius IP cameras), enter the IP camera(s) credentials (User Name and Password), and click Add. Green status indicates a successful connection; grey status could show a password or network error.

If you add IP cameras to DVR’s menu, navigate to Channel >> IP Channels.

Select the IP camera you wish to add, click the ‘Add‘ tab or use a plus button.

The ‘Add IP camera‘ window will pop up with IP camera details.

• In the Alias name, you can set the IP camera name as you’d like to see, e.g., you can change it to ‘Front Door,’ which will be reflected in the Camius View app and push notifications.

• Select the Protocol of the IP camera from the dropdown menu (Private is used for Camius IP cameras)

• Enter the Password. Please note if the Camius IP camera’s Activate State shows ‘Activated,’ it means the IP camera has a set password. Inactivated Camius IP cameras do not have a set password. If you forgot your IP camera’s password, you could reset it using a reset button following this guide.

• Select the channel number you wish to display and click the Add button.

Once the IP camera is added to the DVR, it will appear under the IP channel list. The green state means the camera has been added successfully. A grey color state means the IP camera needs attention, and when you click on the state icon, it will indicate if the error is caused by a wrong IP camera username/password or if it has a network issue.

To avoid network issues, make sure that your camera, DVR, and router are on the same IP address segment, e.g.

•

• Your IP camera has the IP address 192.168.254.2

• Then your router and DVR must have IP addresses starting with 192.168.254.x

• You can also set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Using the Camius XVR system, users can quickly and seamlessly integrate analog and IP cameras, providing greater flexibility in security camera selection. In addition, Camius Hybrid 8-Channel DVR recorders support up to 12 and 16-channel DVRs and up to 24 HD cameras, making a scalable solution for residential and commercial surveillance needs.

It is important to note that the cameras’ quality will significantly impact the system’s overall performance and effectiveness. Of course, high-quality cameras will provide better images, enabling more effective monitoring and surveillance, but also, Camius IP cameras offer intelligent motion, sound, and AI detection. Other manufacturers’ IP cameras are usually limited to basic video motion detection.

How to install a hard drive in a Camius DVR or NVR?

Installing a hard drive in a DVR (digital video recorder) or an NVR (network video recorder) (DVR NVR for short) is a relatively straightforward process. Still, it is essential to follow the steps carefully to ensure proper installation and prevent damage to the equipment. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install a hard drive in your surveillance DVR or NVR recorder.

Camius network and hybrid digital video recorders accept 3.5″ and 2.5″ SSD internal hard drive disks. While 8 channel DVR and NVR recorders accept a single hard drive up to 10 TB in capacity, 16-channel DVR and NVR recording, along with 32-channel NVR will support a 14TB hard drive on each SATA port.

1 – Gather Tools and Equipment

You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, the hard drive you want to install, and any necessary screws (when you order a DVR or NVR from Camius without a pre-installed hard drive, the product box will include a set of screws for the hard drive disk installation).

2 – IMPORTANT: Make sure your DVR / NVR is unplugged and powered off

3 – Removing the Top Cover or the Video Recorder

Remove any screws from the Recorder’s top cover (chassis) using a Philips head screwdriver. Carefully remove the top chassis and set it aside (picture 1)

4 – Insert the Hard Drive

Place the hard drive into the hard drive bay, ensuring the drive is oriented correctly and appropriately seated.

5 – Connect the SATA Data and Power Cables

Connect the Data and Power cables to the two hard disk drives and place the hard disk drives on the video recorder’s case. The Data cable connects the hard drive to the DVR NVR’s motherboard. Locate the SATA port on the DVR’s motherboard and connect one end of the SATA cable to it. Then, connect the other end of the cable to the hard drive. The SATA Power cable provides power to the hard drive. Locate the SATA Power cable and connect one end to the hard drive and another to the Power Supply (pictures 2 and 3)

6 – Secure the hard drive with srews

Carefully flip the video recorder case and secure the hard disk drives to the recorder with the four (4) screws if it is one SATA HDD (pictures 4 and 5) and eight (8) screws for the 2 SATA HDDs (picture 6)

7 – Return the DVR NVR top cover

Place the top cover on the DVR NVR and secure it with the screws (picture 7)

8 – Power on the DVR NVR

Power on the DVR NVR and allow it to boot up completely. If the hard drive was installed correctly and is in working condition, it should be recognized by the DVR and ready for use. Remember to format the hard drive (here is the guide on how to format the hard drive). Ensure that you use the power supply with the Camius video recorder.

IMPORTANT: Some users may find an issue when the hard drive is not recognized or not showing on the DVR. One of the primary reasons could be a wrong or defective recorder’s power supply.

That’s it! Your DVR NVR should now have a new hard drive installed, allowing it to store more video footage. Follow these steps carefully and seek additional assistance if you encounter any difficulties.

How to adjust my DVR NVR monitor resolution?

Camius video surveillance DVR NVR camera recorders have HDMI and VGA video output to live video feed on your monitor.

VGA output supports a max resolution of 1080p, while the HDMI video output 4K video resolution. So if the monitor you use with the Camius DVR or NVR recorder is capable of 4K and the camera, you can view live videos in 4K.

Two ways to adjust the DVR NVR monitor resolution

You can adjust the DVR NVR monitor resolution in the Wizard Setup mode or by navigating to Setup >> System >> General >> Output Configuration.

While in ‘Wizard Setup’ mode, choose an output resolution that matches your monitor. The DVR should adjust the output resolution automatically to match the best resolution of your monitor at the system startup.

Please note that some legacy monitors could fail to communicate their acceptable resolution. In this case, please manually plug the video surveillance DVR into a newer monitor and change the resolution to the lowest setting, then save and plug the older monitor back to see if it’s supported.

After completing the Start Wizard, you can further adjust the Display Output Resolution using the following Menu Path: Setup – System – General – Output Configuration.

Select the output resolution suitable for your TV/Monitor. 1080P(1920 x 1080) will suit most monitors. If your DVR supports 4K output resolution, you can select either 2K (2560 x 1440) or 4K (3840 x 2160) to take advantage of the higher resolution that your 4K TV provides.

You can also adjust the size & position of the display screen to match your monitor/TV by using the ‘Scale and Offset’ feature; click the tab ‘Setup,’ which allows you to:

• Scale is to adjust the size of the displayed screen by scale.

•

• X Offset is to move the displayed screen to the left or right.

•

• Y Offset is to move the displayed screen up or down.

Click once or long-press the left button of your mouse on the arrow to adjust the size and position, or you can scroll the supplied USB mouse’s wheel to adjust. Click the right button of your mouse to exit, and click Apply to save your modifications.

How to reset the DVR and NVR video recorder to default factory settings

To reset DVR or NVR to default settings, navigate to the left bottom of the screen to the main menu. Select Setup >> System >> Maintenance >> Load Default

Here you can select the setting you wish to set to default. If you do not wish to reset the password, do not check the System boxes. Please note Load Default settings do not format your hard drive.

You’d need to enter the system password in the Authentication pop-up window (picture 1), which will lead to restarting your recorder (picture 2).

Navigate to Setup >> System >> Maintenance >> Reset Settings (Picture 3), where you can not select settings to reset so that it will reset your system completely, including the login credentials. You can choose ‘Format HDD‘ if you wish to format your hard drive, leading to erasing any recorded footage.

How to change your DVR and NVR password and add a user

You can update the ‘admin’ password by clicking the ‘User Edit’ button. You will need the admin’s current password to authenticate the new password.

Camius NVR and DVR recorder have an advanced user management feature to add multiple users to the system and control their permissions. System administration (admin) can add users, edit their permissions and delete them.

Navigate to the Main Menu in the bottom left corner, select System >> Multi-User (picture 1)

Click on the Edit icon in the User Edit column and select ‘Enable‘ in the User Enable tab. You can change the User Name or keep it as ‘user1‘. Create the new user password, confirm it, and click on the ‘Save‘ tab (pictures 2 and 3)

Then click the gear icon in the last Permission column to open the User Permission dialogue. Select (tick checkbox) the permissions you wish to grant to the new user. Click Save (picture 4)

How to troubleshoot if my DVR is not powering on?

If you’re having trouble with your DVR not powering on, here are some recommended troubleshooting steps:

Step 1 – Check the LEDs on the front panel, a steady green LED (PWR) means your DVR is powered on normally, and a blinking red LED (HDD) means ongoing recording on the hard drive.

Step 2 – Check the sounds coming out of your recorder. A faint fan sound and a faint hard drive sound are normal, and a click sound when you plug in the DC connector and turn on the switch is typical.

Step 3 – If you have the green LED on but no output on the monitor, follow these steps:

• Replace your monitor/TV with another (newer preferred) monitor, and change the HDMI cable.

• Remove the hard drive (while the DVR is powered off)

• Disconnect all wires except the power, HDMI, and mouse, and then power-cycle the recorder.

• Once your recorder starts normally, plug your cameras back in.

• If one of the camera cables resulted in powering down the recorder, unplug it and check the power supply on the camera in question.

Step 4 – Check the power outlet and the power supply unit of the DVR. If the power supply doesn’t have any LED indicator or the LED light is very faint and not bright green, and there is no fan sound coming from the DVR, the power supply may need replacement. If your DVR has running hardware warranty, please contact us. If the DVR is covered with warranty, you can order a new power supply on Camius site.

Why can’t I access my Camius IP cameras, DVR, and NVR on my Camius View app?

If you can not access your Camius IP cameras, DVR (digital video recorder), or NVR (network video recorder) on the Camius View smartphone app, please check the below:

1 – Check if you are using the latest version of the Camius View app

On the App’s ‘Devices‘ page, make sure your recorder is added using P2P (ID) instead of IP (IP Address), and if in doubt, delete it and add it again.

In the Media Port, make sure to enter the right port number:

• Use port 80 for R-series recorders and IP cameras

• Port 9000 for the non-R series is required

2 – Make sure you’re connected to a reliable network on your phone

3 – Check if your Camius IP camera or recorder is connected correctly to the LAN (Local network).

• Camius devices are picked up by the Camius Device Search Tool, Camius View app, and VMS software.

• Go through the following steps to make sure your Camius device (IP camera, DVR or NVR) is connected to the network: Camius Device and PC you are using must have the same first three segments of the IP address

• Install the Camius device config tool to search for any Camius device

• Here is the link to download and install the Device Search Tool for Windows PC or Mac computer).

• Once you are running the tool, search for Camius devices, and if the device is online (connected to your network), it will appear like in the following picture.

4 – Check for the IP address conflict

• Connect your Camius device in a simple setup, ensuring your network cables are not defective and eliminating any in-between devices that might be causing IP address conflict.

• A simple setup could have just a DVR with the network cable connected to the network switch or router and a PC connected via network cable to the same router while all sharing the same IP base e.g., 192.168.1.x

5 – Reset the Network settings of your Camius device

Navigate to Setup >> System >> Maintenance >> Load Default >> check the Network box and Apply

6 – Check the Camius device network status

Navigate to Setup >> System >> Information and check the Network Status if it shows ‘Connect success’.

If the above steps don’t help, submit a support request and include the device model number and the current ’Firmware/Software Version,’ which can be found using the Camius Device Config Tool

The answer is ‘Yes.’

Camius recorders are compatible with 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) and SSD hard drives (Sold-State Drive).

How to disable menu logout on the DVR and NVR?

Certain Camius device users prefer to remain logged into the menu of their DVR or NVR without re-entering their login credentials unless necessary. To achieve this, you can follow the steps outlined in this guide.

Move the mouse cursor to the bottom left, and click the main menu button: Setup >> System >> General >> Menu Timeouts >> Off >> Apply.

Optionally, you can set a different time for menu log-out as well. This guide applies to Camius NVR and DVR recorders.

It’s important to note that the web browsers will log you out of the session after some time (even if you set the number of sessions), as this function is implemented by the web browsers to enhance security.

To assist you in managing your login details more conveniently, consider using a password manager such as LastPass or similar services with browser extensions available. These services can help you securely store your login information (such as IP address, username, and password) and provide easy access even after your browser session expires.

You can also use VMS software on your desktop to add the DVR using a P2P ID and access the DVR’s ‘Remote Setting’ within the VMS; follow this guide on how to add the DVR to the software.

How to add IP cameras on a network that are not connected directly to the NVR’s PoE ports?

For the PoE-enabled NVR, connect Camius IP cameras via the internal NVR’s PoE ports and/or external LAN (WAN) port using the below-described model 2 or 3:
.

• Mode-1 By connecting it to the PoE port on your Camius Network Video Recorder (recommended for Camius PoE cameras)

• Mode-2 By connecting it to a PoE switch or a PoE injector on your network.

• Mode-3 By using a 12VDC 1-2A power supply.

Camius PoE NVR is optimized for Camius PoE cameras making the whole setup process plug-and-play; the NVR assign a unique IP address to each Camius PoE camera and adds them automatically.

NOTE: Connecting multiple cameras via a switch or router to the PoE port is not recommended. One PoE port supports one IP camera.

The below steps are based on the NVR’s local interface via HDMI video output. Navigate the mouse to the screen’s left bottom corner and click on Setup, followed by Channel >> IP Channels.

In the below menu, you configure the connection of wired IP cameras.

Click Search to search for IP cameras from a local network, click Add to add an individual IP camera, and click Add All to add all IP cameras.

Below we will describe a few ways to add IP cameras from a local network using an external LAN (WAN) port.

IP channels menu description:

• Switch Mode: Auto Mode supports Plug & Play connection via PoE port. To add the camera(s) manually, change the Mode to Manual.

• PoE Mode: Auto Mode limits the maximum bandwidth to 100Mbps, and EPOE mode limits the maximum bandwidth to 10Mbps. In case of a connection problem with Auto mode, when the IP camera is powered by PoE via an RJ45 cable longer than 100 meters, change to EPOE mode for a stable connection.

• Edit: To edit the Switch Mode, PoE Mode, network parameters, username, and password for the individual camera (click the ‘Edit’ icon to open the ‘Edit Connection Information’ window)

• State: Shows the connection status of the camera

• Auto Assign IP to Camera(s): The added IP camera would not connect if its IP address is not in the same network segment as NVR. With this function, reassign an IP address to all added IP cameras.

• Channel Delete: Choose one or more added IP cameras, and click this button to delete

• Default Password: To configure the default user name and password of Private, Onvif, and RTSP protocol connection.

Select the suitable Protocol from the dropdown (Private is for Camius IP cameras), enter the IP camera(s) credentials (User Name and Password), and click Add. Green status indicates a successful connection; grey status could show a password or network error.

Green color State means the camera is added to the NVR

Grey color state icon means the IP camera failed to connect to the NVR. Click the gray icon to show the failure reason:

• If the failure is “User name or password error“, the camera user name and password are different from the default user name and password.

• If the failure is “Failed to connect to the camera, please check the network connection“, it means the network parameter might be incorrect or incompatible with the Onvif protocol.

Option 1 – Adding IP Cameras to the NVR within the LAN (local area network )

If you want to connect to an IP camera from LAN (Local Area Network), please make sure your NVR is well-connected to the LAN and the IP camera you want to add is in the same network segment as your NVR.

If you want to add all channels manually, click the dropdown arrow next to Switch Mode and select “Manual.”

If you want to add an individual channel manually, click the Edit Pencil-shaped icon in the Channel list, and then click the drop-down arrow next to Switch Mode to select “Manual” and click OK to save.

Option 2 – Adding an individual IP camera in the LAN (Local Network area)

STEP 1- Click the Search button; all available cameras in the LAN will be displayed,

Optionally you click the Add plus-shaped green icon in the IP channels list to add a camera to an individual channel. Click the Search button to show all available cameras in the LAN.

STEP 2 – Select the camera you want to add and then click Add button. Next, insert the user name and password of the camera and click Add button.

• Alias: To define the camera ID you want to display in the live view screen.

• Port: Camera communication port. Do not change the number if you’re not a professional.

• Protocol: To select the connection protocol: Private protocol is used for Camius IP cameras; for non-Camius cameras, use Onvif if applicable or RTSP.

• Bind channel: To determine which channel you want to add the camera

STEP 3 – You will see the added camera in the IP channels list

Option 3 – Add Multiple IP Cameras within the LAN

STEP 1- Click the Search button to display all available cameras in the LAN click Add All button, and the NVR will search & add all available cameras in the LAN.

STEP 2 – Select the cameras from the search result and click “Add.” You would need to input the username and password of the cameras. Please ensure all the cameras you want to add use the same username and password. Otherwise, the cameras with different user names and passwords cannot connect.

STEP 3 – The added cameras will show up in the channel list.

Option 4 – Add IP Cameras from another NVR in the same LAN (Local Area Network)

The NVR allows adding IP cameras from other Camius NVRs in the local network.

STEP 1 – Click the Search button to display all available devices in the LAN. There is an Edit icon (blue plus) if the device is an NVR.

STEP 2 – Click the Edit icon (blue plus) and select the camera channels one by one or check the box to select all cameras. Click the icon X to go back to the Search list.

STEP 3 – Select the NVR in the search list and click the Add button.

STEP 4 – Input the Username and Password of the NVR and then click Add button

STEP 5 – The added cameras will be displayed in the channel list

Option 5 – Add IP Cameras from the Internet

If your NVR is connected to the Internet, you can add cameras with a WAN (Wide Area Network) IP address.

STEP 1 – Click Add button on the search page.

STEP 2 – Input the IP address or Domain name, Alias (name of the IP camera), Port, Protocol (choose the protocol of the IP camera from the dropdown menu: Private, Onvif or RTSP), User Name & Password of the IP camera.Tap the Add button to add the camera.

To avoid network issues, make sure that your camera, NVR, and router are on the same IP address segment, e.g.

• Then your router and DVR must have IP addresses starting with 192.168.254.x

How to configure Camius NVR using a web browser?

To quickly find the Camius DVR (digital video recorder) or NVR (network video recorder) IP address, visit camius.com/support to download and install the Camius Device Config Tool.

Click on the Camius NVR or DVR’s local IP or type it into your browser’s address bar. The latest Camius surveillance security camera recorders work with multiple web browsers, including Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Edge, and Safari, and include the following models:

Use your admin username and DVR or NVR password to log in. Your recorder’s Configuration is under Remote Settings.

You can check the ‘Web Compatibility Mode‘ in the Camius NVR/DVR and even IP camera settings (this can be done from the Camius recorder’s local user interface (Via HDMI/VGA) and in the web browser viewer.

LaView NVR setup and user guide, No, unfortunately each port on the back of the NVR is only designed for 1 camera. This will only allow about 2 cameras to show up. To use a switch, you’ll have to connect the switch to the same router that the NVR is connected to. Then you’ll proceed to setup the cameras over the network. Please see the Adding cameras over the network FAQ.

Can I add cameras over the network?

Yes, you can add cameras over the network, they do not have to always be connected directly to the NVR. You can use a switch on the network that connected to the same router as your NVR. Please follow these steps to set this up:

1.Connect the camera to your router using an Ethernet cable. Also, use a 12v power supply to power the camera.

2.Once the camera is powered and connected to the network, use our network search tool pick up the IP address. If you do not have the Search software, you can download it here (Make sure to disable any anti-virus or malware protection software before installation): https://www.laviewsecurity.com/files/software/UpdateTool_V2.3.2.11.zip

3.Make sure the computer or laptop you are using is connected to the same network as the cameras and NVR

4.Once the camera is on the network it should show up on the software. Make sure the IP address matches the network IP address of your network.

Log into the NVR and go to Camera>Camera Management, click on Manual Add, and enter the IP information for the camera. Use the default username: admin password: 123456

Can I connect all the cameras to a switch, then the switch to one of the NVR ports?

No, unfortunately each port on the back of the NVR is only designed for 1 camera. This will only allow about 2 cameras to show up. To use a switch, you’ll have to connect the switch to the same router that the NVR is connected to. Then you’ll proceed to setup the cameras over the network. Please see the Adding cameras over the network FAQ.

Can I use my PC to view my cameras remotely?

Yes, you can use your external IP address to view your cameras and manipulate configuration via Web Browser. Our plug in will only work on Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Once one of those browsers are open, type in your external IP address in the URL bar. If the port forwarding is done correctly, it should bring you to your NVR log in page. Log in using the same credentials as you would directly on the system. After you’re logged in, click the link to download and install the plug in. Restart the browser and click the “All Main” button on the left-hand side, and it should bring up your camera streams.

Can I use port forwarding to setup remote viewing for my NVR?

Yes, you can setup your system via port forwarding. Although, this setup is recommended for more advanced users. You will need to note the IP Address of the NVR/DVR. To obtain this, go to Main Menu>Maintenance>System Info>Network, your IP address will be the IPv4 address at the top. Then you’ll need to log into your router via web browser on a PC. Once logged in, you’ll need to add ports 80, 8000, and 554 to the port forwarding rules. For help with port forwarding for your router, contact the manufacturer or your ISP. There are also guides for a lot of various models of routers here https://portforward.com.

The port forwarding setup should look something like this:

How Do I find my system’s IP address?

To find your system’s IP address go to Main Menu>Configuration>Network. The IP Address at the top is your local IP. If your IP address is 0.0.0.0 or 192.0.0.64, this means your system is offline. There are a few causes from this, but usually it’s a bad ethernet cable or the cable is not plugged in properly to either the NVR or Router. If those are checked to be correct, try restarting your router by unplugging it for a minute and restarting the DVR.

How Do I format my HDD?

To format your HDD you’ll need to go to the Main Menu>System>Storage>Management Tab. Once in the HDD menu, highlight the HDD information. Then click on “Format” at the bottom. Please note this will delete all information off the HDD.

How do I playback my recordings?

To playback videos go to Main Menu>Playback. In that section choose your camera(s) on the right-hand side. Then double click any of the days on the calendar. This should automatically start playback for that day. Use the bar at the bottom to jump to a specific time during that day.

How Do I set up my recording schedule?

To set the recording schedule you’ll need to go to Main Menu>Configuration>Schedule>Record Plan. In that section, you’ll have access to each channel’s recording schedule. The camera’s will automatically start and stop, recording, at desired times. If you want to set up only motion recording to each camera, select “Setting” on the right-hand side for the desired day. Choose MD for Motion Detection for the day and set a desired time, if not all day. Then you can copy the schedule to other days at the bottom. Click apply then ok, then apply again. You can now click copy at the bottom and copy the schedule to other channels as well. Or choose another channel at the top to setup a different schedule.

How Do I upgrade my system’s Firmware?

How to I download videos off my NVR?

To download video footage you’ll need a flash drive inserted into one of the USB ports on the system. Then go to Main Menu>Backup. Once in the Backup page, you’ll need to select the USB device from the list. Then click on “Backup” at the bottom and you’ll have the file selector screen show up. Make sure AVI is checked, then proceed to backup. You can select a specific channel along with date and time you want to backup. Click on Add, then the list should update. Each file will have a start and end time. Check mark the files desired for back up and click backup at the bottom. Once the progress bar finishes, you now have the files on your USB drive.

I forgot the password for my system, how do I reset it?

I have port forwarding setup, but my external IP address keeps changing. Can I fix this?

Yes, you can either contact your ISP and ask them for a static IP address or setup a DDNS. LaView does offer a free DDNS service that you can setup with these instructions:

I have some trees in my yard that are triggering my motion detection. How can I fix this?

You can setup areas for your motion recording within the camera’s configuration. Go to Main Menu>Configuration>Alarm>Set Area “Setting”. In that section, you’ll have a preview of one of the camera along with a red grid over it. You can clear the area and only draw specific areas with motion detection. Or you can just remove the areas by clicking and dragging over the red boxes. Everything in red will trigger motion, anything clear will not.

Which mobile app do I need?

Would suggestion you follow the instruction below for troubleshooting,

1.Please ensure the cameras are connected, would suggest you to connect them directly to the PoE ports at the back of the system.

2.At the day time, try to cover the camera lens with your hands to see if there is a IR red light on the problematic cameras. And please also check if the camera goes hot when it is connected.

3.The camera appears not to get powe if there is no light and heat. We will need to check if it is the camera/port/cable issue.

How to connect a LaView Saturn Series IP Camera to a Non-Saturn Series NVR

5b. If you are connecting the camera via LAN, use DHCP or set up the IP address to your network range. For example: Target IP 192.168.0.217, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1

6. Go the NVR Menu => Camera => Camera.

7. Click on the channel which the camera is connected to (ie if the camera is connected to port 3 on the back of the NVR, click on channel 3). If you are connecting the camera via LAN, Click on any unused channel.

8. Change ‘Plug and Play’ to ‘Manual’ and enter the camera IP address (192.168.254.xxx or 192.168.0.217 as in previous example)

9. Change protocol to ONVIF and Management port is 80

10. Enter user name and password you set up when you activated the camera in step 3.

11.Apply the setting and wait for the camera to be connected.

12.Adjust video setting such as resolution and frame rate in Parameter menu.

Step One: Connect the Camera to Your LAN

To add the camera to a WiFi network, first connect the camera to the Local Area Network (LAN) through a router, modem, or network switch.

Using an Ethernet cable, connect the WiFi camera to a router, switch, or modem that is on the network you would like to configure WiFi for.
Power up the camera using the included power supply (Bullet and Turret cameras)
Once the camera has connected to the network, use the IP Search Tool to discover the camera IP Address.

IMPROTANT: The WiFi Turret (CLR-V100-4T36WF-W) and Bullet (CLR-V100-4B36WF-W) do not support POE. You must connect the camera to the network using an Ethernet cable and power the camera with the included power supply.

Configuring Motion Events in a ClareVision Camera

The following a is a quick guide to setting up motion events in a ClareVision camera.

Motion events are quite simple to set up.

Step One: Go to the configuration tab, Events/Motion Events

Step Two: Set the motion area.

Set the motion area by dragging your mouse over the grid pattern. The area without grid coverage will not be analyzed for motion. In the image above, the pool surface should be removed from the motion detection area as the spa spillway will create rippling on the surface of the pool which will result in false triggers.

You should also watch for nearby bushes/trees/foliage that may move when the wind is blowing. The motion algorithm in the ClareVision cameras was overhauled in the fall release. As a result, insects, birds and foliage in the distance will rarely cause false triggers.

Step Three: Tune the Sensitivity.

As you lower the sensitivity, the likelihood of false triggers will be reduced, but the camera’s detection zone for a human size object will also be reduced. See the table below:

Note: the above table is for human sized objects and the fixed lens cameras. Cars, for example, will trigger motion events at greater distances and zoom adjustment on a varifocal camera will allow you to detect human objects at greater distances than those listed above.

Step Four: Set the arming schedule.

The arming schedule is what controls when the camera will process motion events. When a motion event is created, it is automatically sent to the push server (stand alone) or sent to the NVR for processing. Additionally, when a motion event is created, it will be sent to the recording engine in the camera and if configured to record, it will be recorded to the SD Card.

The arming schedule default is 7×24.

Caution:

It is easy to get confused by the multiple calendars that are in a camera or NVR. The event arming schedule shown above is the primary calendar you need to manage.

If your installation requires events to be disabled during certain hours of the day or days of the week ALWAYS do the following:

1. Use the event arming schedule to control when the event will be analyzed and propagated

2. Leave the record schedule on 7×24 record. DO NOT try to match the two calendars – use the event arm schedule to control when events happen NOT the record schedule.

Step Five: TEST

This is an easy thing to skip – make sure you test your setup! Watch the area of interest and make sure objects moving in that area are captured (go to the Playback tab to view). Equally as important, make sure you have filtered out areas that are prone to create false triggers: nearby foliage, pools, sidewalks, roadways etc.

Configuring Smart Events in Standalone Performance Series ClareVision Cameras

The following a is a quick guide to setting up Smart Events in standalone Performance Series ClareVision cameras.

Step One: Go to the configuration tab, Events/Smart Events

Make sure you ENABLE Intelligent Detection such as Humanoid detection. You must have Intelligent detection enabled to use any of the presents below.

There are four smart event types:

Intrusion: intrusion events are boundary intrusion events. Intrusion detection can be configured with up to four zones.
Line Crossing: line crossing detection can be configured as a unidirectional crossing or bidirectional crossing.
Loiter Detection: detects when people stay in a region of interest for an certain time period.
People Gather: detects when the density of people in an area exceeds a threshold.

All of these events are human based. Vehicle detection is being worked on at this time and will be in a future firmware release.

Although there are four smart event types, they all are stored and propagated to the mobile app as ‘Smart Events’. There is meta-data that indicates the smart event type in the event log in the mobile app and in the push notification. You can configure more than one smart event type.

Step Two: Intrusion

Intrusion is the most commonly used smart event type. It is similar to motion detection in concept but is restricted to human detection. False positives are very rare with smart intrusion events.

First – check the ‘enable’ box. Without the event enabled, nothing will happen.

Click “Draw Area”. You can draw a quadrilateral anywhere on the screen. If the region of interest does not fit nicely within a quadrilateral, you can draw a second quadrilateral by using the “Warn Region” dropdown box. You can have up to four regions of interest.

Any intrusion in any of the up to four regions will trigger the intrusion event.

The “Time Threshold” is the duration the person needs to be in the region for the event to trigger. The time is in seconds.

“Sensitivity” is the human detection sensitivity setting. A higher number will detect humans further away from the camera, but may be prone to more false detections. Lower sensitivity has the reverse effect.

Step 3: Line Crossing

Line crossing is used when you want to know when someone has entered or exited a specific threshold or doorway as opposed to simply knowing if someone is in a region

In this example, the camera will trigger when someone walks from the house to the pool, but not the reverse.

Step Four: set the arming schedule.

The arming schedule is what controls when the camera will process smart events. Each smart event type can have its own arming schedule. When a smart event is created, it is automatically sent to the push server (stand alone) or sent to the NVR for processing. Where to find the default password for ClareVision Cameras and NVRs

The default password for all ClareVision cameras and NVRs is the FIRST SIX CHARACTERS of the UUID which can be found on:

Back of the installation manual
Label on the camera box
Label on the back of the physical camera

IMPORTANT NOTE: The password is case sensitive.

You will be prompted to change the password when initially setting up the camera in both the camera web console and ClareVision App.

How to use the SD Card in a ClareVision Camera as Backup to Your NVR.

Want to be sure events are available for your customer in the event of an NVR failure or NVR theft? Use the SD Card on the Camera as a backup.

Overview

The SD Card in the camera (included in all 4MP and 2MP fixed lens ClareVision cameras) is a useful tool when you want to install one or two cameras and keep the job low cost and simple. The user experience is similar to an NVR with event playback and the storage is reliable. What about an installation with an NVR? Use the SD Card as a back up for events.

NVR Setup

The NVR setup is not changed in any way to accomplish the goal of using the SD Card as a backup for events. Read this article to learn more about setting up a ClareVision NVR. Once you have completed setting up the NVR to record motion or smart events, you are ready to configure the camera to record events.

Camera Setup

By setting up the NVR to record events in the motion or smart event setup, you have already configured the camera’s motion or smart events.

Here is the NVR with smart events configured using Intrusion Detection

By configuring the Intrusion Detection in the NVR as above, the camera Intrusion Detection is configured as shown below (the NVR simply ‘programs’ the camera)

The recording schedule you setup in the NVR is the recording schedule for the NVR, not the camera. To use the camera SD card as a backup to the NVR for events, we need to set the recording schedule up in the camera.

The image below shows the camera recording schedule. It is set to record all Smart Events, 7 days/week, 24 hours/day.

Save the schedule and you are done. The camera will both, send the event to the NVR for storage and record the event locally.

Points to Remember:

You cannot access SD Card events from the mobile app when it is behind an NVR (i.e. on the PoE ports). If the camera is connected to the NVR on the general network, you can add the camera to the mobile app as a separate device and access the events directly from the camera tile on the home page. We only recommend doing this for troubleshooting and access to SD Card events as it will get confusing for your customer if the camera is visible on the home page and the NVR screen.
You can only back up ONE event type: motion OR smart and not both. The camera will only record a single event type.
Accessing the stored events on the camera itself involves the following steps assuming the camera is on an NVR PoE port:
1. Log into the NVR
2. Go to Configuration/Channel/Camera
3. Access the virtual host by clicking on the IP address of the camera you wish to view and login to the camera.
4. Once logged into the camera, go to the Playback tab and view the stored events.

Conclusion

Clare Controls includes SD cards on many of its cameras standard. You can use the camera stand-alone OR use the SD card as a backup to the NVR. With a few minutes of work, you can assure you customer their data is safe!

Where do I find the UUID on an Installed Camera

If you camera is already installed and you need the UUID for setup – follow these instructions.

Let’s say you are being called out to configure cameras that have already been installed and no one wrote down the UUID you need for the password. There are two simple methods for retrieving the UUID without getting a ladder out and going to each camera

Method 1: Cameras are Stand-Alone on the LAN

Launch the ClareVision App

Tap the ‘Plus’ sign and you will be presented with the three options shown below.

If you tap device is on the network, the app will scan the LAN for any ClareVision cameras and present them in the following screen.

There you have all ClareVision cameras attached to the LAN with the UUID (needed for the default password) and the IP address of the camera. You can now log into the camera your browser using the IP address and the first 6 digits of the UUID as the default password.

Method 2: Cameras are on the NVR

This is even easier. Log into the NVR, change the password as requested. When you do so, all attached cameras will have their UserID and password set automatically to the UserID and password of the NVR.

If you want to change the UserID and password of the NVR, you do so under the Configuration tab System/Users

Check the “Sync Camera Password” box and password will change on all attached ClareVision cameras whether on the PoE ports or the general LAN when the NVR password change is accepted.

Note:

The camera password sync feature works with ClareVision cameras only. It does not work with attached ONVIF cameras (e.g. Luma, Hikvision etc)

How to set up Event Snapshots using cloud storage for ClareVision cameras and NVRs

Event snapshots can be configured for ClareVision cameras and NVRs that are backed up on a Google Drive account. Whenever an event is detected such as smart event, motion, or other alarm trigger, a snapshot image will be created of the scene and uploaded to your Cloud storage device. This guide will help you set up Google Drive for use as a backup with event snapshots.

Google Drive:

Utilize IP Search Tool to find your camera on the network and notate the IP address.
Open Edge or Chrome and navigate to the IP address for your camera.
- (ex. http://10.100.0.100)
Log into the camera using camera’s credentials that you created at setup.
Click on the “Configuration” tab, then click on “Storage” in the navigation tree on the left side of the page.
Click on the “Storage Management” sub-menu and switch to the “Cloud Storage” tab.
From the drop-down menu in a camera, select “Google” or the “Enable” checkbox and “Google” checkbox on an NVR. The web console will auto-fill with the Web setup URL and Authentication Code. You will need this code to complete setup.
Copy and past the web browser URL link (https://www.google.com/device) into a new browser tab.
Copy and paste the Authentication code into the Google devices login window and tap “Next“.
Log in or select your Google Drive account.
Tap “Allow” to give the NVR rights to your Google Drive.
After the success screen displays, switch back to the camera web console and tap “Bind“.
The camera is now be connected with your Google Drive account. You must enable Cloud Snapshot Backup individually for each camera including those connected to an NVR by opening the camera through the Virtual Host. Configure the Cloud Linkage method in your motion detection settings:
Open the “Events” window in the sub-menu and select “Ordinary Events or Smart Events“, depending on the need.
Under your selected event type, select “Linkage Method” in the sub-menu.
Add a check box next to “Upload Via Cloud” to have event snapshots loaded into the cloud.
Tab “Save“.
The next time motion is detected, a folder will be created in your Google Drive that will capture and upload snapshots of motion events.

Where to find the default password for ClareVision Cameras and NVRs

The default password for all ClareVision cameras and NVRs is the FIRST SIX CHARACTERS of the UUID which can be found on:

Back of the installation manual
Label on the camera box
Label on the back of the physical camera

IMPORTANT NOTE: The password is case sensitive.

HDD: The top shows the current number of hard drives being used for recording. And on the bottom shows the storage capacity used.
Network Status (Mbps): The top side Rx is received throughput in Mbps and the bottom side Tx is transmission throughput in Mbps. Circle color represents:

Click to enter NVR SETTINGS and click General on the top panel, where you are allowed to adjust system configurations of the NVR. The details of the tabs are described as follows:

Chapter 2-1 General

Device ID: Assign an ID for the NVR to be controlled by the remote controller.
Audio Out Volume: Adjust the volume of the NVR.
Sound On Button Press: Switch on/off the sound when pressing remote control buttons.
Last Boot Time: Shows the last time the system is rebooted.
Automatic Logout: Log out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Automatic Login: Specify user account to log on automatically when the system power on.

Chapter 2-2 Time

Date/Time: Set the date/time of the NVR.
Date Format: Modify the date display format.
Time OSD: Switch on/off the time to be displayed on the screen.
Time Zone: Change the time zone of the location where the NVR is installed.
Time Sync Mode: Choose how you would like the time to be synced.
NTP Server: Enter the NTP server you want to use.
Time Sync Interval: Choose the interval for the time to be synced.
NTP Status: The status of connection to selected NTP server will appear here.

Chapter 2-3 User

The NVR supports up to 15 sets of individual user settings (including default user administrator, operator, and guest), to which you can assign different access privileges.

User: Enter the name of the user (applicable only to User01-12).
Old Password, New Password, and Confirm Password: If you would like to change the password, enter your previous password and enter the new password and confirm the password. Press Show to reveal the password.
User Permission: Set the access privileges of the user to administrator, operator, or guest.
Load Default: Restore to the default settings.

Chapter 2-4 Storage

Chapter 2-4-1 HDD MGT

In HDD MGT, there are HDD format, file system defrag, check HDD malfunctioned blocks, and HDD periodic inspection. Select a desired HDD and click Format, File System Defrag, Bad Block Check, or Regular Check.

Regular Check:

Allows you to set the interval between system checks: Parameters: Click each device to enter the screen below.

System Reserve Ratio allows you to allocate the percentage of HDD space that will not be occupied by recorded files. In Mount Option, choose the writing mode for the hard drive.

Chapter 2-4-2 S.M.A.R.T.

The S.M.A.R.T. status of your hard drive is displayed in S.M.A.R.T., where you can run analysis (either short or extended) on the HDD. Choose between Short or Extended analysis and click Analysis to start the process. You will see HDD status, information, attributes, and event history under HDD S.M.A.R.T. Information.

Connect a USB device (flash drive or hard drive) to the NVR, and check the one you want to format under this page, and then click Format.

Chapter 2-6 Maintenance

Firmware Update: Choose a firmware file and click Update to proceed firmware update.
Export Settings: Click Export to copy system settings to a USB flash drive.
Import Settings: Click Import to apply a system setting that is stored in the plugged USB flash drive.
Factory Reset: Click Reset to restore the system to the factory settings.
Soft Reboot: Click to soft reset the system.
Watchdog Test: Click to test the system watchdog function. This will reboot the NVR.
Kernel Version: The kernel version of the system.
Support: Click to open server execution log options dialog, record system execution details.

Chapter 3 Network

Chapter 3-1 General

Enter the required information in the fields:

IP Mode: Select the connection type of the NVR from Static, DHCP, and PPPoE.
IP Address: Enter the IP address you want to use, and press IP Test if necessary.
Subnet Mask: Enter the desired subnet mask.
Default Gateway: Enter the desired default gateway.
Primary DNS: Enter the first priority DNS server.
Secondary DNS: Enter the secondary DNS server in case the primary DNS is not available.
Video Port: Specify a desired video port.
HTTP Port: Specify a desired HTTP port.
HTTPS Port: Specify a desired HTTPS port and configure HTTPS.
FTP Port: Specify the desired FTP port.
MAC: This is the MAC address of your NVR.
PPPoE Account: If you choose to connect through PPPoE, enter the account name here.
PPPoE Password: Enter the required password for PPPoE connection.
PPPoE IP: Your PPPoE IP will be displayed here.
Hotspot IP: Your hotspot IP will be displayed here.

Chapter 3-1-1 Configuring HTTPs Port

The DHD DVR series support HTTPs (Hypertext Secure Transmission Protocol) service. HTTPs is an Internet protocol that ensures the integrity and confidentiality of data as it travels between users’ computers and websites. When users visit any website, they want a secure and private online experience.

HTTPs can be regarded as the advanced security version of HTTP. The SSL protocol is added as a security certificate. Therefore, the website can prevent data thief from directly seeing the transmitted data even if they intercept the transmitted information by using the encryption on the agreement.

There are two options to set HTTPs service:

The first option is to create a free self-signed certificate by filling-in the blank field below. Then, click Create Self-signed Certificate.
The second option is to purchase an SSL certificate by filling-in the blank field below and click on Create Certificate Request. Then, click on the Export Certificate Request to download the request into a PC and use to apply for official certification. After purchasing the SSL certificate from a third party company, click on the Import Signed Certificate.

Chapter 3-2-1 TCP/IP

NVR supports three sets of virtual IP addresses. When TCP/IP is switched On, the NVR can access the camera or another NVR using the specific IP.

Chapter 3-2-2 P2P

1. When activated successfully, a QR code will appear on the screen, and you can access the NVR with Sentinel app by scanning the QR code.

• Enable: Choose On to activate the service.

Chapter 3-3 E-Mail

When an alarm is triggered, the NVR can automatically send e-mail notifications to the recipients you designated.

The setting options are described below:

Send E-Mail: Check the box to enable sending e-mail notifications when an alarm is triggered.
E-Mail List: The list shows all saved e-mail addresses.
Edit Contact: Enter the email address you want to save as contacts and click Modify.
Authorization: Check if your e-mail account requires login authorization.
SSL/TLS: Check if your e-mail sever requires encryption.
E-Mail Account: Enter the account name of your e-mail.
E-Mail Password: Enter the password of your e-mail.
Sender: Enter the name you would like to display in the e-mail.
E-Mail Host: Enter the IP address of your e-mail server.
Port: Enter the port of your e-mail server.
JPEG File: Check to also attach JPEG photos when an alarm is triggered.
Candidate: Choose an email address and press Down or Up arrows to add contacts as recipients.
Receiver: The list of recipient(s).
Annotation: Content of the email notification.
Trigger Conditions: Designate when to send the notification email by Channel Events and System Events.
Channel Events: Click to open the dialog below.

Motion: Check to send e-mail when movements are detected.
Alarm: Check to send e-mail when external alarms are set off.
Video Loss: Check to send e-mail when connection with IP Camera is lost.

Chapter 3-4 FTP

When an alarm is triggered, the NVR can automatically send snapshots to the FTP server you designated. The setting options are described below:

FTP Server: Enter the IP address of the FTP server.
Port: Enter the port of the FTP server.
Account: Enter the account name of the FTP server.
Password: Enter the password of the FTP server
Prefix & Postfix: Specify the prefix and postfix of snapshot files.
File Name Format: Change the file name format to suit your need.

Check the cameras that you want to send notifications to the FTP when an alarm is triggered, and specify the folder name where the images are saved.

Chapter 3-5 DDNS

With DDNS, you can access an NVR connected to the Internet through the DDNS URL, whatever the actual IP is. The setting options are described below:

Server: Choose the DDNS server you want to use.
Hostname: Enter the hostname of the DDNS server.
User: Enter the username to log in to the DDNS server.
Password: Enter the password to log in to the DDNS server.
WAN IP: Enter your WAN IP if the NVR cannot automatically get the correct address.
Check Interval: Choose the time interval you want the system to check theDDNS connection.

Note: The DDNS feature requires Internet connection.

Chapter 3-6 Other

The NVR also supports other protocols such as UPnP and SDDP, and related configurations can be modified in the OTHER tab. The setting options are described below:

• UPnP Device Name: The device name shown on the UPnP network.

• UPnP Service: Switch on/off the UPnP service.

IE Default Live View: Select the default streaming type (H.264 or MJPEG) when streaming using Internet Explorer.
Reset on Ethernet Error: Reset the PHY when an Ethernet error is detected, and leave a record entry in the event table
Browser Auto Logout (30 Minutes): Log out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity.
SDDP Device Name: The device name shown on the SDDP network.
SDDP Service: Switch on/off the SDDP service.
IP Address Filtering: Switch on/off the IP filtering function, press Setup to open the filtering IP address setting dialog.
Over Bitrate Protection: Switch on/off protection function that when network input throughput over the limitation reducing live video decode to protect recording data.
ONVIF Service: Turn on ONVIF support when using with other ONVIF equipments.
IPScan Service: Turn on to work with Camera Search Tool

Chapter 4 Camera

Chapter 4-1 General

Camera Name: Enter the camera name to be displayed on the streaming screen.
Camera Source: Allocate a NVR channel for the camera. Select Off, IP camera, or Auto.
IP Address: Enter the IP address of the camera you want to connect.
HTTP Port: Enter the port for HTTP connection.
RTSP Port: Enter the port for RTSP connection.
User: Enter the username required for camera authorization.
Password: Enter the password required for camera authorization.
Stream Type: Choose whether to stream only the primary video or dual (primary & secondary) videos.
Primary Stream: Select the FPS and GOP for the primary stream.
Primary Stream Bitrate: Select the bitrate for the primary stream.
Secondary Stream: Select the FPS and GOP for the secondary stream (available only if Dual Stream is activated in Stream Type).
Sec. Stream Bitrate: Select the bitrate for the secondary stream.
Decode Ref. : Select the number of reference frame for the decoder, and choose Immediate for lower latency or Smooth for smoother but higher latency video.
Display: Disable the video function (live feeds and playback) of the selected camera.
Sync Time with NVR: Turn On for the camera to sync time with the NVR.
Security Protocol: Check box to allow HTTPS connections to the IP camera. The recommended HTTP port setting is 443.
Test: Press to check ONVIF device information including manufacturer, model #, firmware version, serial # and hardware ID.
Assign RTSP URL: Assign required RTSP URL, NVR will connect to camera via required RTSP URL but not Onvif.
RTSP Multicast Setting: Assign required RTSP multicast port.
IPScan: Click IPScan to scan for connected devices on the network.
Cancel: Click Cancel to stop scanning.
Auto Adjust IP: Automatically assign IP for connected cameras.
Snap: Show snapshot thumbnails for all the cameras.
Set IP: Assign an IP address to the camera.

Chapter 4-2 Video

In this page, you can adjust several camera parameters including Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, and Sharpness.

Click Default to restore the NVR to its factory settings. Click Refresh to update the preview image.

Record Mode: Switch on/off scheduled recording.
Audio: Switch on/off audio recording.
Post-alarm Record: Enable to record after an event takes place. Set the time (second) for the NVR to record after the alarm is triggered.
Weighted Record: If any alarm is triggered when Weighted Record is turned on, the recording frame rate will be adjusted to the pre-determined value (which can be set in CAMERA SETUP). Otherwise, the NVR will record at a lower frame rate (approximately 4-5 FPS).

Note: System Recording Mode must set to Schedule and Recording schedule set to Always.

Chapter 5-2 Schedule

To modify the recording schedule, switch the recording type from Always (continuous recording), Alarm (record only when an alarm is triggered), or No Record (disable recording), and highlight the desired date and time accordingly. Click Apply All to apply your selection of recording type to all dates and time.

Chapter 5-3 Advanced

• System Recording Mode: Choose between Manual or Scheduled recording.

Overwritten: Switch on to overwrite old files when the storage is full.
Pre-alarm Record: Switch on to start recording for a period before an alarm occurs.
Limited Recording: Set the number of days to record (from now to the designated day).
Protected Recording: Set how many days of video the NVR will preserve.
Estimate Recording Time: The estimate number of days that can be recorded based on the hard disk size
Average Recording Bitrate: The average video stream size based on the current bandwidth received by the NVR.
Average Recording Size: The available recording space according to the current installed hard disk.
Average Recording Time: The estimate number of days that can be recorded based on the hard disk size.

Chapter 6 Alarm

Chapter 6-1 General

Alarm Input Type: Set the alarm sensor to Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), or IP Camera. The last option will trigger the alarm only when receiving a signal from IP cameras.
Motion Enable: Switch on/off motion detection. Remember also to set the motion detection area in the tab MOTION AREA.
Motion Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of motion detection. Higher sensitivity indicates that the alarm can be more easily triggered.
Save Event Snapshot: Enable to store a snapshot on the hard drive when an alarm is triggered.
Motion Popup: The display view pops up when the motion is triggered.
Specify Alarm Text: The alarm text displays on the channel when the alarm is triggered
Display View: Turn on/off the display view when the alarm is triggered.
Display Type: Switching display view to camera/view when alarm is triggered.
Alarm Popup: The display view pops up when the alarm input is triggered
Metadata Popup: The display view pops up when the metadata event is triggered
Display Content: Camera: Switch display to the selected channel. View: Switch display to the selected split view group.

Click and drag across the grid to highlight motion detection areas. Click Apply All Channels to apply the areas to all camera channels.

The NVR supports various external devices such as GPS or POS, and in this page you are allowed the change the settings for these devices. The setting options are described as follows:

Serial Input: Select the USB port to which your external device is connected.
Metadata Service: Turn On to enable using external devices.
Serial Device Server: Enter the server IP for your serial device.
Server Data Port: Enter the port of your serial device.
Server Command Port: Enter the command port of the device.

How to add an NVR in FusionPro

Users now have the ability to add NVRs to their account, as well as adding cameras to the NVR.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We recommend that the cameras are first configured individually and then added to the ClareVision app before adding them through FusionPro. This ensures that the password is reset on the camera. If attempting to add the camera in FusionPro with a 6-character password or less (which is the default) it will fail.

To add a new NVR:

Access the desired FusionPro account and click to add a new device.
Desired Account > Devices tab > Add Devices > Cameras > (Select an NVR type)
Enter all the required info (IP address, username, password) and select the desired channels.
Click Create Device.
Devices are created until an error occurs. If an error occurs, device creation will stop and it notes which channels were successfully added. If the user accidentally checked a channel that is not in use, simply uncheck the problematic channel and click Create Device.

If the user returns to the add device screen and enters the IP of an existing NVR, the existing channels are displayed.

To add a camera to an existing NVR:

Follow the steps above for adding a camera.

Click on an unconfigured row.
Re-enter the username and password and click Save.
You can also navigate to any NVR channel device from another NVR channel device by clicking Edit in the NVR Cameras table of a configured channel.

To delete an NVR camera:

Go to the Devices tab.
Select the checkbox for the desired camera, and then select Delete in the Select an Action drop-down.

What is the difference between the Value Series, Performance series, and Color at Night?

The Value Series is intended to service accounts with basic surveillance requirements without sacrificing video quality and reliability. You will find the value series in the same high quality IP67 housings as the performance series and the video performance to be outstanding. The Performance Series adds:

Color at Night cameras feature everything included in Performance Series cameras with the added benefit of a warm white LED light that can illuminate the scene and produce vivid color in night time settings. This allows for important details to be captured that are normally lost with IR night vision cameras such as vehicle colors, facial features, licence plates, etc.

Do all cameras come with SD Cards?

No. The 2MP and 4MP Value Series and 4MP Performance series come with pre-installed SD cards. The 8MP and varifocal Performance Series cameras do not come with SD cards. SD Cards are available for purchase should you need to add or upgrade capacity.

What can I store on the SD Card?

The SD card is intended for event storage, but you can configure normal (full time) record as well. You can only record ONE event type to record on the SD card: basic motion, smart events, OR normal record. NVR’s do not have this restriction.

What is the lapse time for the SD Card, and will it loop back?

The SD card in the 2MP is 16GB and 32GB in the 4MP cameras (both Performance and Value). For the 4MP cameras, if the defaults in the camera are left unchanged, you will be able to record approximately 18 hours of fulltime video or just over 1,000 on minute events. If the compression is changed to H.265, you will be able to store about 36 hours of fulltime video or 2,000 one-minute events. The 2mp will last slightly longer. The default setting for the cameras is loop-back enabled, meaning the camera will overwrite the oldest stored video once it runs out of storage space (FIFO).

Can I use the SD card as a ‘backup’ to the NVR by storing events locally and fulltime record and events on the NVR?

Yes. Camera recording can be set up independent from NVR recording.

What wall brackets and junction boxes are compatible with ClareVision cameras?

You can see a complete list of all ClareVision wall brackets and junction boxes, as well as cameras they are compatible with HERE.

Why is my camera recording full time when it’s configured for motion only?

All 4M V100 cameras (part number CLR-V100-4X36X) record full time and tag the motion events in the time line when motion occurs.

What are some of the important default settings I should know?

ClareVision have been configured for best out-of-box settings and experience. The default settings should be ‘ready to go’ for 90% of applications reducing training and field installation errors. The important settings are as follows:

FPS: 15
Compression: H.264
IR: automatic
WDR (when available): off
Time: NTP time server on, refresh every 10 min, Eastern Time Zone, DST on
Motion Record: enabled, 7 days, 24 hours a day
Motion Events: enabled, 7 days, 24 hours a day
Smart Events: disabled

Do any of the ClareVision cameras include built in microphones or I/O connections?

What is the password process and what if I lose it?

The default password is the first six characters of the UUID. The first time you log into the camera from the web console you will be prompted to change the password. You will be prompted with setting up security questions and offered to download an encryption key for password recovery. Either those questions or the encryption key can be used to reset the password. If you do not take these steps and store this information, the only way to recover the camera is a physical factory restore. (See manual). When that is done, the camera will restore to factory default settings allowing you to enter the first fix digits of the UUID as the password.

I use Hikvision, is there an ‘activation key’?

There is no ‘activation key’ for the ClareVision cameras.

What is the difference between the calendar in the storage settings menu and the calendar in the events menu?

The events menu is essentially an ‘arming’ feature. In order to propagate events to the mobile app, linked services (e.g., relays, FTP, email), or to record you need to arm an event type. The configuration of the event along with the event calendar control the CONFIGURATION of the event (e.g., H/M/L sensitivity, motion area) and the time of day / day of week the camera will trigger on an event. The event ‘arming’ controls when and how an event happens, and no other system or service will receive those events without this feature set up. The record calendar simply controls when events (or normal video) will be recorded provided they are armed at that time.

What do you recommend I do for setup with the two calendars?

The flexibility of these calendars is virtually endless, but in a majority of use cases we recommend the following:

Set the record calendar to 7×24 record for the event type you wish to record.
Use the event calendar to control when an event will be triggered which will in turn control when it is recorded.

How does all this relate to the mobile app and the user experience?

The event ‘arming’ controls the propagation of the event to the mobile app via push notifications. This is INDEPENDENT from whether the event is recorded. The recording under storage management controls what ends up on the SD Card which is where the mobile app goes for the event history. We cannot stress this enough: keep the storage settings calendar set to 7×24 and use the event calendar to control when a motion event (example) is triggered (push notification) and stored to the SD card (event lookup in the mobile app). If you do not do that you risk having a push notification sent to the user with no recording to view when they go to the event log.

Why then are the event arming schedules and record schedules separate?

There are plenty of use cases where you may want to record on a different schedule than the arming schedule. This can be common in more complex installs where the linkage feature for event arming is used. (see manual for more information).

What are Smart Events and how do they work?

Smart Events are events that require the presence of a human to trigger. They are also specific in nature: intrusion zone, line crossing, loiter, people gather.

What is the difference between a Motion Event and a Smart Intrusion Event?

You can essentially use the Smart Intrusion event to reduce false triggers if the primary interest is detecting the presence of a person. Motion events use a typical grid pattern and sensitivity settings to control which areas of the field of view are analyzed for motion and at what sensitivity. A car, dog, or any real motion in the included field of view will trigger an event. A smart intrusion event is set up by drawing a box around the area of interest, setting the sensitivity and detection type. Once configured, a human will have to enter the intrusion zone for the event to trigger.

How do I power the cameras?

Nearly all ClareVision cameras (excluding CLR-V100-4B36WF-W and CLR-V100-4T36WF-W) are PoE AF and do not require PoE+ (PoE AT). You can also power the cameras with a 12V DC 1amp power supply (not included).

Do the cameras support remote access?

The cameras support remote access via the mobile app via Clare’s free P2P service. Additionally, you may use Dynamic DNS or configure the local router to enable remote web access.

How do I predict the storage and bandwidth required for an installation?

You may use the Clare bandwidth and storage calculator located HERE to calculate your bandwidth and storage requirements for a project.

How do the cameras receive firmware updates?

All Clare cameras can be updated via the ClareVision OTA server using the mobile app. This is the easiest way to update the cameras. Update notices happen two different ways:

Upon adding the camera to the app, the app will check the OTA server for a firmware update and, if available, require the user to download the update.
Once added, if the camera is eligible for an update an icon will appear in the live view indicating there is an available update. Updates are in the device configuration dropdown under “Device Information”.

Which browsers does Clare support?

Currently, ClareVision cameras and NVRs support Google Chrome and Edge browsers.

Is there a Control4 driver for ClareVision cameras?

Yes. The Control4 driver supports live view and events including motion events and smart events. SDDP is not currently supported but will be released along with OVRC support before the end of 2021.

Is there a ClareOne driver for ClareVision cameras?

Yes. The ClareVision driver supports live view on the mobile app and ClareOne panel as well as motion and smart event propagation for automation rules and notifications.

Are the ClareVision cameras/NVRs OVRC enabled?

Currently, only ClareVision NVRs support OvrC. OvrC Support for cameras will be coming at a later date.

Do I need to do port forwarding?

No. ClareVision cameras and NVRs do not require any port forwarding.

How much storage is on an NVR?

The 4-Channel has 1TB, the 8-Channel has 2TB and the 16-channel (upcoming) has 4TB of HDD storage on-board. The 4-channel and 8-channel support one HDD up to 8TB’s. The 16-channel supports up to 2 HDD or 16TB’s of total capacity

Do your NVR’s support outboard storage?

Yes. They support USB drives and NAS drives.

I see you list your NVR’s as 4, 8 and 16 channel but the camera support figures are higher, please explain?

The model ID for the NVR (e.g., 4-channel) is the number of PoE ports on-board. The channel support listed in the data sheet is the actual number of cameras the NVR will support. The four channel will support 9 cameras, the 8 channel will support 16 cameras and the 16 channel will support 25 cameras.

Keep in mind the cameras supported number is a license number and is not an absolute support figure. The incoming and outgoing bandwidth of the NVR will dictate the number of cameras the NVR can support in a real application. The bandwidth calculations are impacted by VBR settings, compression settings, framerate settings, motion in the field of view among other factors.

Does your NVR support 4K?

Yes. The NVR output is 4K. If the camera is not a 4K camera, the NVR will up-sample the video to 4K as it passes video to the HDMI port. The NVR will record up to 4k (8MP) camera streams.

Do your NVR’s have sensor inputs and relay outputs?

Yes. There are 16 sensor inputs and 4 relay outputs on the 16 channel NVR.

Does the NVR expose the camera settings for easy setup?

Yes, the NVR provides access to nearly all camera settings via the NVR web UI.

Is there a Control4 driver for the NVR?

Yes, the Control4 driver supports live view. If you would like events from a camera on the NVR, connect the camera to the NVR on the general LAN and not the PoE ports. When that is done, the camera driver can be used to directly access the cameras.

Is there a ClareOne Driver for the NVR?

Yes, the ClareOne driver supports live view. If you would like events from a camera on the NVR, connect the camera to the NVR on the general LAN and not the PoE ports. When that is done, the camera driver can be used to directly access the cameras.

Are the ClareVision NVR’s OVRC enabled?

Yes. ClareVision NVRs feature native OvrC Support.

Do the ClareVision NVR’s work with legacy ClareVision Plus cameras?

Yes. We have tested all ClareVision Plus cameras on the ClareVision NVR’s. They will add as ‘ONFIV’ cameras.

Do the ClareVision NVR’s work with Luma cameras?

Yes. We have tested products from each Luma category on the ClareVision NVR’s. They will add as ‘ONVIF’ cameras.

When a ClareVision Plus camera or Luma camera are connected to a ClareVision NVR, which app do I use?

Connecting a ClareVision Plus camera, Luma camera (or ONVIF camera) to a ClareVision NVR enables the ClareVision app to gain access to the cameras for purposes of live view and event playback. The live view NVR integration to ClareOne and Control4 will also function. In effect, the ClareVision NVR ‘adapts’ a ClareVision Plus or third party ONVIF camera to the ClareVision cloud. You can use this technique to take over camera systems that are ONVIF compliant and bring them to the Clare Cloud!

Can I add or change a ClareVision NVR hard disk drive?

Yes, the four, eight and sixteen channel NVR’s have 1TB, 2TB and 4TB hard disk drives pre-installed. The four and eight channel NVR’s can support one hard disk drive up to 8TB. The sixteen channel NVR has four drive bays total and ships with 1 4TB HDD pre-installed. The sixteen channel NVR can be equipped with up to four 8TB internal hard disk drives, or 32TB’s total storage. Additionally, the sixteen channel NVR has an external SATA port for connection to external hard disk arrays. The warranty is not voided when you change or upgrade hard disk drives.

What manufacturer and model hard drives are recommended?

Clare installs and recommends Toshiba DT series hard disk drives designed for surveillance applications.

CLAREVISION APP

Which operating systems is the app available on?

The ClareVision App is available on the Google Play store for Android and Apple App store for iOS.

Does the mobile app support NVR’s and cameras?

Yes. There is a different view for NVR’s (grid view) than cameras. The features and actions are nearly identical other than the device presentation.

How do I add cameras to the mobile app?

Adding cameras is extremely simple in ClareVision. Tap the “+” sign on the home page, tap ‘device is on the network’ if you are on the same network as the camera (e.g., home LAN), the app will scan the local network for all unattached cameras and NVR’s and produce a list of cameras for inclusion. Select the camera you would like to add and enter the password. You can now access the camera for live view and view all stored events on the camera or NVR.

How do I configure the mobile app or cameras for remote viewing?

No configuration required. Once you add the device to the mobile app, the Camera is enabled in the ClareVision cloud automatically.

Can I add a camera remotely?

Yes. Tap the “+” button on the home screen and either scan the UUID or enter it by hand, enter the password and done.

I have noticed there are very few configuration options for camera events in the mobile app. Why is that?

That was intentional. Most pro-style apps do not provide configuration features in the end user mobile app. We did not want the user to inadvertently alter the configuration you enabled thereby causing a service visit. We will gradually enable end user configuration when that feature (e.g., motion) can be completely displayed to the end user and you can remotely view the changes and correct them in the event a user configured something incorrectly.

Which events are supported by the mobile app at launch?

Motion events are supported at launch. Smart events are not. We expect to release smart events support before the end of Q2 2021.

Can I search for a recording or event by date/time?

Yes, tap ‘Filter’ in the event log to filter by event type and/or date/time.

I see you still have ClareHome/ClareOne and now ClareVision. What do I need to do to enable the best consumer experience?

While there are several ways to configure a ClareOne/ClareVision system, we recommend the following sequence as a guide to best practices:

During the setup of the ClareOne panel via FusionPro, go to the “Add Devices” tab and select Cameras. When in that screen FusionPro/ClareOne will scan the local network for ClareVision Cameras and produce a list of devices you may add. In that screen, each camera discovered on the network includes a configuration web console link. Use that link to connect to the ClareVision Camera(s) or NVR web interface.

Use the web console for the cameras or NVR to set the password and configure the camera/NVR including event arming and recording schedules

Once complete, enter the new device username (default admin) and the new;y changed password in FusionPro to enable the camera(s) and NVR in ClareOne.

Once the cameras are installed, have the user download the ClarOne/ClareHome app and the ClareVision app. Once the user has signed into the ClarHome app and added the desired cameras to the ClareVision app the two apps will deep link.

A deep link action happens when a user taps the ClareHome camera icon on the favorites page. Doing so will automatically take the user to the ClareVision app to that camera’s live feed. Tapping the back arrow in Android or the app name in the upper left corner of an iOS device will return the user to ClareHome/ClareOne.

Why did you release ClareVision on a second app?

After a great deal of deliberation, we determined that the stand-alone use cases for the camera line did not need the burden of the entire ClareHome application, and that through deep linking we could create a near ‘single app’ experience for the user when both systems are present.

Where else is deep linking used?

Everywhere. Any app you use where you touch an icon or hyperlink uses deep linking to take you to the destination app/web site. The most well-known example of deep linking is Facebook and Facebook Messenger. The messaging app is an independent app from the base Facebook app and uses deep linking to provide a seamless user experience.

Will there be a single account in the future for users with ClareOne and ClareVision?

Yes. We are working hard to provide a single-sign-on experience for the Clare Ecosystem.

Is there a monthly fee for ClareVision services?

No. The P2P service and all cloud services are free of charge. We encourage dealers to charge for this service as part of your recurring monthly fee however making 100% of your service fee drop to your bottom line!

Understanding Recording Schedules vs. Arming Schedules on ClareVision Cameras

Part 1 of 3: ClareVision Camera Setup:

1. Download the IP Search Tool to your computer and launch the program.

2. Ensure your computer is connected to the same network as the cameras to discover all the cameras available on the network.

3. Copy the IP Address of the camera you would like to start configuring and paste it into your web browser to open the camera console. (We highly recommend you use Internet Explorer for optimal performance).

4. Enter default camera username and password.

The password is case sensitive:

Default Username: admin

Default Password: First SIX characters of the UUID/SN

Note: The UUID/SN can be found on the rear of the camera and installation manual.

5. You will be prompted to change the default password. Please have the primary user change the password and write it down on the back of the Installation Manual that came with the camera. Leave this manual with the primary user for future technical servicing.

6. Have the user select and input their security questions for password recovery. We also recommend that the password reset key be downloaded and emailed to the primary user for safe keeping in the event that the password and security reset answers are lost.

NOTE: You should now be able to log into the camera web console which gives you access to all advanced camera configuration settings. Here you can adjust motion detection settings, storage, smart events (Performance Series cameras), and more. 7. Once you have configured advanced settings for the camera to fit the projects needs. please click “Save“.

8. Repeat steps 3-7 for all cameras that are to be configured.

Next we will set up the cameras to work in the ClareVision App.

Part 2 of 3: ClareVision Account Creation and Camera Inclusion:

1. Download and install the ClareVision App on the desired iOS or Android device that will be used to access the video live feed and settings.

2. Ensure the device is connected to the same network as the cameras.

4. Tap the “+” icon on the home screen to begin the camera inclusion process.

NOTE: If setting up the cameras to work with an NVR, please follow the Quick Start Guide steps outlined HERE.

5. Select “Cameras” if adding a camera or “NVR” if adding a Network Video Recorder.

6. Select from the available options:

“The device is not on the network”
“The device is on the network”

7. The app will search the network for all compatible cameras and display a list of found cameras.

8. Select the desired camera from the list by matching the UUID/SN.

9. Input the username (Default: admin) and input the newly created password for each camera that is to be added.

10. Update the Device Name as needed.

11. Tap “Done“.

12. Check each camera to make sure it has the latest firmware by opening each camera feed.

13. Repeat steps 4-12 for all the cameras that are to be added in the ClareVision App.

Cameras can now be accessed using the ClareVision App and will work Standalone. Camera setup for standalone use is now complete. Please follow the next step if you would like to integrate the cameras to work with the ClareOne Panel and ClareHome App.

Part 3 of 3: (Optional) Setting up ClareVision for use with ClareOne Panel and ClareHome App

1. Navigate to FusionPro and access the customers account.

2. Select the “Devices” tab.

3. Tap “Add Devices”.

4. Select “Cameras” from the list.

5. FusionPro will search the network for compatible cameras and display a list of all available cameras found.

6. Add a check mark next to your desired camera and input the default username “admin“.

7. Have the customer input their newly created password for each camera into the password field under the Required Info screen.

NOTE: If you check more than one camera on the discovered list of cameras – you must ensure they all are using same password for them to be added all at once. If the cameras are using a different password, you must add them individually.

NOTE: You can access the camera Web console by tapping “Configure Devices” under each device name. The web console will offer additional advanced configuration settings for each camera. You must be connected to the local network to access these settings.

Each cameras live feed can now be access in the ClareOne Panel and ClareHome App. For steps on how to add the camera tiles to the ClareOne Panel or ClareHome App, please follow:

Adding camera tiles to ClareOne Panel and ClareHome App:

1. Tap on any free tile on the ClareOne or ClareHome Favorites screen to bring up the device list.

2. Select “CCTV” from the list.

3. Tap “+ add” next to the desired camera.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 for all desired cameras.

Live video feeds can be accessed by tapping on any camera tile.

In this article, we will cover the basics on setting up 2-way audio on ClareVision cameras and provide you with best practices when setting up audio input and output.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Not every ClareVision camera supports 2 way audio. Cameras must have an Audio IN and Audio OUT connector. Note that most have RCA type connectors while a couple have 3.5mm connectors. Refer to the ClareVision Camera Cables and Connectors Guide for a list of which cameras include external Audio In/Out.
The ClareVision cameras do not provide power for any externally connect speaker or microphone, power must be provided to each according the manufacturers’ specifications.
The Audio IN and Audio OUT cables are clearly marked on the cables.
It is acceptable to use a RCA to 3.5mm converter for speaker and microphone connections.

Audio Setup using External Microphone and Speaker

You will need to connect your external speaker and microphone to the camera using an RCA adaptor or 3.5mm jack with Wi-Fi cameras. ClareVision cameras do not provide power to the external speakers and microphone, you will need to make sure they are powered separately.

Connect the microphone to the cable labeled Audio In.
Connect the speaker to the cable labeled Audio Out.
Connect power to the external speaker and microphone according to their specifications.
Using Chrome or Edge, browse and log in to the camera’s user interface using the camera’s IP address and navigate to the Audio Configuration settings.
Configuration > Video > Audio.
Enable Audio settings and select:
- Audio Input: LINE Input
- Audio Output: External
- Audio Encoding: G711A.
You may need to adjust the Audio Input and Output volumes depending on your audio hardware.
Tap Save to save your configuration settings.

TIP:

You can access camera audio from the web console by tapping on the Speaker Icon to hear sounds, and Microphone Icon to speak through the camera. Note: you will need to enable the Audio settings for Line In and Line Out, as well as allow the web browser to access your computer’s microphone. You will not be able to play sounds out of a camera that does not support a Line Out external speaker.

Testing Audio

1. Test the speaker and microphone by opening the ClareVision App.
2. Select the camera you would like to test and enter the Live Feed.
3. Tap on the Speaker button in the app to hear audio coming from the camera’s connected microphone. You can tap on or speak into the external microphone while someone is listening on the app.
  Note: Having the app too close to the external speaker and microphone may result in feedback.
4. Tap the Microphone button in the app and speak into your mobile device. You should be able to hear your voice through the connected speaker.
5. Adjust the audio output and input from the camera Web Console in the Audio Configuration settings as needed.
6. That’s it, you are all set!

Audio Setup using Built-in Microphone

Some ClareVision cameras include a built-in microphone. You can access the microphone from your live video feed in the ClareVision App.

Open the ClareVision App
Select on your camera that supports a built-in microphone.
Tap the speaker icon to start hearing audio.

How to Access the Reset Button on a Fixed Lens Turret

The Reset Button is located on the side of the camera sphere. Rotate the sphere until the weather resistant cover is revealed.
Using a Philips head screwdriver, unscrew the protective cap to reveal the reset button.
Reset the camera by holding down the Reset Button for 10-15 seconds. Camera must be powered on.
Secure the cover in place using the original screws.
Done!

How to Access the Micro SD Card Slot on a Fixed Lens Turret:

The Micro SD Card slot is located on the side of the camera sphere below the Reset Button. Rotate the sphere until the weather resistant cover is revealed.

Press on the Micro SD Card to eject it.

How to Access the Reset Button on a Fixed Lens Dome

The Reset Button is located under the protective dome of the camera. Unscrew the three security set screws using the included alan key and carefully remove the dome cover.
The Reset Button is located on the main PCB board below the camera mounting structure.
Reset the camera by holding down the Reset Button for 10-15 seconds. Camera must be powered on.
Replace the protective dome and screw in the original screws.
Done!

How much bandwidth do I need for live streaming?

The amount of bandwidth you’ll need depends on your encoding bitrate. For example, if you are encoding at 3,000 Kbps, you will need at least 3 Mbps of upload bandwidth. If your stream’s bitrate is too high relative to your upload bandwidth, your live stream will be unreliable for viewers. For example, a stream with a 6,000 Kbps bitrate doesn’t work on a network with a 5 Mbps upload bandwidth limit.

Above are the general required bandwidth for streaming guidelines. For example, the minimum bandwidth required for 1080p (HD) streaming is 5 Mbps, while the minimum 4K (UHD) streaming bandwidth is around 25 Mbps.

How to update ClareVision camera firmware through the NVR Virtual Host

In this article, we will outline the steps on how to update ClareVision camera firmware using the NVR Virtual Host.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must download the firmware you need for each camera from the ClareVision Firmware Database here: https://www.clarecontrols.com/clarevision-firmware

Once your desired firmware is downloaded, access the NVR web console. You can access the NVR web console by navigating to the NVR IP address in your web browser. To find the IP address of the device, you can download the install the IP Search Tool which will scan the home network for compatible ClareVision devices.

How to access cameras using the Virtual Host from an NVR

Navigate to the NVR web console.
Select the Configure tab.
Open the Channels sub menu and select Cameras.
Tap the desired camera IP address to open a new web console tab for the camera.

How to update camera firmware

Once prompted, log into the camera web console using the NVR login credentials.
Select the Configuration tab.
Open the System sub menu and select System Configuration.
Switch to the Maintenance tab.
Under the Upgrade > Firmware section, tap Browse to open the system window.
Navigate to the desired firmware save location, select it and tap Open.
The file path will be displayed in the web console.
Tap Upgrade to begin the update process. Tap Ok if prompted by a popup window.
The firmware upgrade process could take up to 8 minutes to complete.
Once completed, you will be prompted to log back into the web console. Input the default credentials and navigate back to the System Configuration sub menu to verify that the firmware version is now updated.

How to Quickly Update Firmware on ClareVision Cameras

The Fall firmware is a significant upgrade to the camera firmware for both the Value Series and the Performance series cameras. The following is a guide to cut down the time needed to update camera firmware on a job site.

Six Quick Steps

Step One:

Download the ClareVision app

Step Two:

Connect the cameras to a PoE switch on the LAN and let them boot up.

Step Three:

Launch your ClareVision App and tap the “+” Icon at the bottom on the screen

Step Four: Add the Camera to Your ClareVision App

Step Five – Tap on the Newly Added Camera and It Will Show You There is an Update Available

Tap update, and 3 minutes later, the camera will be back online and up to date on the latest firmware.

Step Six – Connect the Camera (if needed) to the PoE Port of the NVR

If you want the camera connected to the PoE port of the NVR, the simply connect the camera to the PoE port of the NVR and it will auto-discover (set to static IP, assign the IP address, set the UserID and password).

You can of course just leave the camera on the general LAN. If that is your intention, you are done.

Note:

You can update the NVR firmware the using the same method OR go to the web console under the Configuration Tab click on Maintence/Online Uprade

Click on “Check” and the NVR will check the OTA server for an update. If there is an update, it will prompt you to download and update.

Hardware

Hard Disk Installation

Please use suitable and professional hard disk; Do shut off power before installation.

Step 1: Put the NVR on table horizontally, loosen 4pcs M3*6 screws;

Step 2: Push the cover to the back direction , connect data cable and power supply cable to the ports on hard disk separately;

Step 3: Match the hole between hard disk and NVR case;

Step 4 : Pu t NV R o n t a b l e sideways, fix hard disk with 4pcs BM6#-32*6 screws;

Step 5: Install the NVR cover, fix it with 4pcs M3*6 screws, and change NVR antenna to the direction.

Log in / Log out

Please make sure the voltage of power supply is matched with wireless NVR, and ground connection work well in socket.

Installation of wireless IPC

The IPC should be installed on the wall with suitable thickness, which can sustain 4 times weight of IPC& spare
part.

① Hole location sticker: put the sticker on the wall, punch with 5mm drill in the marked areas, make sure the deep of hole is over 30mm at least.Then punch expansion screws in hole.

② Fixing IPC: The structure of wireless IPC is integrated, please use 3pcs PA4 screws to fix IPC on the wall.

③ Bracket adjustment: loosen the screw on IPC, the range of angle for adjusting is showed on picture below,adjust the IPC to suitable direction, then tighten the screws.

Placement of Wireless IPC

The shape of wireless NVR signal coverage is a ball, antenna is located in the center. Signal is strong around antenna, and weak in the dent area of the 2 antennas.

Based on the signal spreading ways, please make the wireless IPC keeping parallel or tangent with wireless NVR, which ensure stable signal transmission and better picture quality.

Extending signal coverage range by antenna extension cable

When there comes to no/stuck image because the barrier weaken the signal, user can replace the antenna with extension cable, to bypass the obstacles, user can place it in a better signal position of NVR.

Software Operation

Code matching & IPC adding

① Right-click on main interface, select【IP Camera】-【Add】- 【Match Code】

② If just match one device, please connect IPC and NVR with IP cable in WAN port. For multiple matching, please connect IPC to switch, and connect NVR to switch in WAN port.

③ Click 【Match Code】, system will match the code between IPC and NVR.

④ When finished code matching, click 【Search】, then select【Add All】. User also can click to add it and view picture.

The code has been matched before output, user no need to add the IPC again, picture will be shown automatically when power on. For code matching, please follow the steps above, and delete the useless channels.

Record and Playback

① Check the hard disk. Right-click→ 【 Menu】 → 【 Disk】 . Make sure hard disk is connected to NVR and run normally.

Please format hard disk, it can come into using after showing capability.

② Timing and alarm record: 【 Menu】 → 【 Record】 → 【Record Time】→ choose type→【apply】.

Wi-Fi NVR system is default setting 24h manual record, and also, 【All Day】/ 【Daytime】/【Night】/【Custom】are for optional

③ Manual Record: Right-click → 【 Manual Record】 → choose recording channel → 【 Save】 (Actually, the Wi-Fi NVR system have default set 24th recording)

④ Playback: Right-click → 【 Playback】 → choose channel and date → double click date to query→ double click timeline to check record.

Backup

Insert U disk to NVR USB port→ Right-click→ 【 Menu】 → 【Record】→【Backup】→ choose time, channel and type→ 【 Query】 → select target file → 【 Start Backup】 (some wireless NVR will just 1 USB port, please pull out mouse and insert backup device in 45S after click【Start Backup】.

If target file can not be searched out, please click 【Empty】 → 【Add】. Please remove the files which is no
need before backup. Ensure insert device( like USB) in 45S, as system reserved searching time for it is 45S.

Motion Detection Record

① Right-click→【Menu】→【Alarm】→【Motion Detect】 → choose target channel→ click 【Enable】→ Set Sensitivity & Area & Time & Alarm mode→ Choose Channels for recording when Motion Detection Alarm is triggered→【Apply】.

② Back to【 Record】 interface→ 【 Record time】 → 【 Custom】 → set record period of target channel→ click 【Motion】→【Apply】. User can also set shelter and linkage alarm in the same way above.

Internet Connecting

【Menu】→【Wire Network】 In LAN, there are 2 ways for wireless NVR to connect to Internet. Manual setting: Fill in IP address, DNS data, and click【Apply】.

DHCP: open DHCP, device will connect to Internet automatically, no need data setting. If user doesn’t familiar about the network environment, prefer use DHCP first, please.

Auto Bridge

By new mesh network auto-bridging function, without any manual setting, wireless camera in further area will have a
judgment about the WIFI signal and auto connect to the camera which have a better WIFI signal, to achieve more stable and reliable video transmission.

Auto bridging is designed to expand the coverage area of wireless signal, instead of enhancing the signal. When camera is a little far away from NVR, or there are too many interference factors/sources between them, camera in further area will auto bridge/connect to the one nearby to transmit the video data.

① Chec k the bridging information Right click →【Channel】 →【Bridge】

②Then, bridging relationship will be showed on the interface automatically.

③ Picture above shows 2 auto bridging connect types
One by one: CH1→CH3→NVR

Connected directly to NVR: CH4→NVR

please ensure there is no obstacle in two cameras,let let them be visible in pairs,which means when person in one camera installing position, he/she can see the other camera, as it will benefit for image to transmit stably.

Wire connect

Wireless connect is very convenient, and wire connect is also a good supplement.

In some complicate scenes, like too much thick obstacles/metal which will weaken signal, even lead to disconnection, then wire connect will help to solve it to ensure image clarity and stability. Steps:

① Connect IPC and NVR with network cable directly or through switch, 【Menu】→【IP camera】→【Search】→ select target IP address(as the IP address is the same before modify)→ → 【Modify the device IP】.

② Delete the channel which no need to add→ double click the target IP address to finish connection.

Mobile Phone View

Software download: user can download “Aiview” on Android market/App store, customer can scan QR code on the right.

Open Aiview, and sign up a personal/company account.

Connect NVR with router by network cable directly to ensure it is connected to Internet and IP address on NVR is valid. Steps: Right click→【 Wire Network】→ set IP address.

If not familiar about the LAN environment or the device is in private network, user can turn on “DHCP”, which ensure
gaining IP address automatically.

If familiar about LAN, user can set it and DNS manually to connect to internet.

4. Open P2P function

【Menu】 → 【Network】 → 【Mobile】 → 【Enable】, click 【Refresh】to let the status shows “online”. If shows “Not online” more than 5 minutes, please check step to ensure NVR is connected to Internet.

5. Device Adding

① Logging in Aiview, click → 【Scan QR code】 to add device, if the account have added camera before, interface will be like the second picture, please choose the top right icon .

② Scan device’s ID QR code or click ” ” to input it manually In the pop-up interface, then name the device to finish add it .

Preview: click device in list to enter preview interface, select a channel to view it’s picture, click to enter full-screen.

7. Preview interface icon .

Share to others: click “ ” , input account or scan account QR code to share to others, then click【Next】.

Playback: select “ ” on the interface, click “Hard disk video” to enter related playback interface, user can drag timeline to playback the video in different time, and click to switch channel or to change to target channel.

PC view

Software install: download address: https://cameramanual.org/aiview ; User can search tools software, choose version, download it according PC system.

Please ensure Danale account have been signed in and added camera successfully on cellphone, open software, input user name and password, select【Login P2P】

user won’t log in an account or find a device without a registered account/ no camera have been added on it. User can’t view the video on cellphone and PC by the same account simultaneously.

Danale on PC will show the added device on left list after logging in, select 4 split display, click device list to choose a channel or right-click to connect all.

If don’t select 【Login P2P】, input user: admin, password: admin, customer can search and add all the device of the LAN.

IE view

Connect WAN port to switch with IP cable.
Check the network wire network IP address, put it on IE.

The segment of NVR and PC should be the same.

please click【 Download plug-in NEW】 for install plugin for the first time, and remember to log out Internet Explore in procession.

Click , and choose【Live View】, user can view the picture and set data on the user interface, picture as below.

Step 1: Connect camera to the network and find IP address

1.1 Connect camera to the network

If you want to use wired connection, you just need to connect the Ethernet cable. Otherwise, there are several ways to connect the IP camera to your Wi-Fi network. Please read the product manual for detailed instructions.

(1) If your Wi-Fi router does not support WPS, then you can connect the camera with the router using an Ethernet cable first. You can configure the Wi-Fi settings in the camera’s configuration pages later. For Wi-Fi only cameras, you must use manufacturer’s mobile app to connect it to the network.

(2) If your Wi-Fi access point/router supports WPS, then it is very easy to connect your device to the network.

Turn on the camera and press the WPS button on your Wi-Fi access point (router) for 3 seconds; the WPS button will usually start flashing. Next, quickly press the WPS button on your camera. In about 1 minute, you will see the status light changes, indicating it is connected to the wireless router.

1.2 Find the Camera’s IP Address

Please refer to the manufacturer’s manual for more detailed information. Usually you will run the included IP Camera Search Tool to find the camera. If your computer does not have a DVD/CD drive, then you can download CameraFTP VSS software to find the camera’s IP address. ( After you find the camera’s IP address, you can stop / uninstall VSS. Note: This camera is compatible with VSS-based Cloud Recording. You can use VSS as a cloud-enabled NVR, which requires a PC. )

Step 2: Configure the Camera Using the Web-based Configuration Tool

Most IP cameras don’t support Chrome, incl. this camera. So please download Firefox web browser if you don’t have it already. Launch Firefox, and visit:

http://IP_ADDRESS/(e.g. http://192.168.1.2)

The default username is admin, and password is 123456. (It is recommended that you change the password.)

After you log on to the camera, please install the Plug-in:

Click “View Video Mode 1”, it will display the live view screen:

Click Setup, you will see the Setup Main screen. Click Network and then click the FTP tab, you can enter the FTP information as shown in the screenshot below.

With CameraFTP’s service, most regular setup steps are not required. (You can check these steps in the Camera Configuration screen to make sure everything is configured correctly).

2.1 Setup or Re-configure Wi-Fi

If you had already connected the camera with your wireless router, then skip this step.

Otherwise, click the Network tab, then click Wireless Setup, you will see the screen below.

Click Search to find all available Wi-Fi routers, then select a router to connect. You will be asked to enter the wireless password, after done, click Save.

If Wi-Fi is configured successfully, you can unplug your network cable later.

Step 3. Configure the FTP settings

Click Network à FTP, you can see the screen as follows. If you don’t already have an account on CameraFTP, please visit www.cameraftp.com and sign up a free trial account. CameraFTP offers 3-day free trial. When the trial ends, you will need to order a subscription to continue using the service.

Assuming you already have a CameraFTP Account, then you need to enter the following info:

- FTP Server:ftp.cameraftp.com (or IP: 66.220.9.45)

- Port:21

- FTP Mode:PASV (This camera uses PASV by default. No configuration is needed)

- FTP Path:You camera folder path.

Username / Password:FTP username is your CameraFTP username, FTP password is available in Configure IP Cameras page. (Your CameraFTP password may also work).

Note: In the above screenshot, WansviewPTZFullHD is the folder name, which is the same as the camera name that you created on www.CameraFTP.com website when you added a new camera.

Click Save to save the settings. After that, you need to configure the video / image resolution.

Step 4. Configure Video Profile and Image/Video Recording Options

Based on your subscription, you need to configure either video settings or image snapshot settings. You shall not configure both settings, otherwise, you need to order two separate camera licenses.

4.1 Configure Video / Image Profile (Resolution, Frame Rate, Bit Rate)

In the Video & Audio tab, click “Video”, see the screenshot below.

It seems you only need to configure the first stream, which supports two video sizes: 1920×1080 and 1280×720.

The resolution and frame rate should be based on the CameraFTP plan you subscribed to;

The Bit Rate is a little tricky; setting too high will overuse the bandwidth, thus dramatically slow down your network, causing failed uploads; setting too low will affect the video quality. You can use our bandwidth calculator to estimate the bandwidth. Visit www.cameraftp.com, click Pricing, and then customize a service plan. See the screenshot below.

Note for estimating the bandwidth, Number of Cameras should be set to 1.

For the video plan of 1920×1080, 3 frames/s, the estimated bandwidth is 770Kbps. You you can set it to a value smaller than 1024Kbps.

If you ordered an image plan, then you only need to select the correct video resolution. The resolution of the image snapshots will be the same as the First Stream video.

Click Save to save the video settings.

4.2 Configure Video or Image Recording

If you ordered an image recording plan, then you should configure Alarm Action to upload image “snapshots to FTP server”. Otherwise, check “Recording to FTP server”. Please don’t check both checkboxes, or you need two separate camera licenses.

- “Snapshot to FTP server” will record image snapshots to FTP server. Each motion will trigger 3 images to be uploaded in 3 seconds. Continuous events will trigger continuous recording at 3 images/30 seconds. Video recording is clearly a better option for this camera model.

“Recording to FTP server” will record video clips to FTP server. It can record a 30-second video clip for each motion event. Continuous events will trigger continuous video recording at 1 video clip per 30 seconds. The video format is .MP4, which is compatible with all browsers and platforms.

For the image recording plan, you can only order 1 image/10 seconds at 1920×1080 or 1280×720.

By default, you can only set motion-triggered recording. However, you can set the motion sensitivity to 100 for continuous recording.

4.3 Configure Motion Detection (required)

Click the Alarm tab à Motion Detection as shown below.

Just draw a rectangle and set the motion sensitivity. For motion-triggered recording plans, please leave it at 50; for continuos recording, set it to 100.

Click Save to save the change.

NOTE: Please do not configure both video recording and image recording. It will be considered as two camera licenses!

You are all done!

5. CameraFTP Viewer

You can disconnect the Ethernet cable if you want to use Wi-Fi. If you need to make changes, you can run the CameraFTP Virtual Security System program again to find the camera’s IP address (as it may change with DHCP), and then access the camera’s Configuration pages.

After your camera is setup, you can visit www.cameraftp.com to view or play back your recorded footage from anywhere. You can also download CameraFTP Viewer App for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

Note: This camera is compatible with VSS-based Live View, Cloud Recording and Local Recording. You can use VSS as a cloud-enabled NVR, which requires a PC. If you want to use VSS with this camera, you will need to select the following video stream:

How to Upgrade Your Camera Firmware on a Computer? If you found you can’t repair your camera to your NVR, it will be that your camera’s version not compatible with your NVR’s. Please kindly install a search tool to detect your camera’s version and then upgrade it into the corresponding version. Then please try to repair the camera to the NVR again.

Confirm the camera’s version.

1. Please connect the camera to the router by ethernet cable and power on the camera by the adapter.

2. Install this software on the computer to search the camera’s IP and its firmware version.

A. If the camera’s version is lower than 1.7.8, please upgrade it to 1.7.8 by the following steps. (It need to upgrade it into 1.7.7 at first, then after its version is 1.7.7, then upgrade it into 1.7.8) After upgrade, pls note to reset the camera to the factory setting.

B. If the camera’s version is between 1.7.8 to 1.9.3 (not including 1.7.8), please upgrade it into 1.9.3 by the same method above. After upgrade, please note to reset the camera into the factory setting.
