FLIR PC-NVR is software bundled with the FLIR Cloud Client software download. It is a completely separate software, and one does not require the other to function.

FLIR PC-NVR turns the computer into an NVR and will use your hard disk drive (HDD) on your PC to store recorded video.

IMPORTANT: If you install PC-NVR and want to remove it afterwards, you must uninstall FLIR Cloud Client software entirely and re-install it with the PC-NVR option not selected. Uninstalling FLIR Cloud Client will require the administrator password. If you do not have this password, you must contact technical support for assistance in recovering your password.

The following instructions require you to access your system using the FLIR Cloud Client software and a PC.

REMINDER: FLIR PC-NVR can be installed while installing FLIR Cloud Client. However, if it is not initially installed, FLIR Cloud will need to be uninstalled and re-installed to install FLIR PC-NVR at a later date.

Prerequisites:

• Ensure FLIR Cloud Client software and FLIR PC-NVR are downloaded on your PC.

• Record the device ID and IP address of the camera or DVR / NVR system you want to add to PC-NVR.

4.Select the channel you want to add using the checkbox, then click Import.

Once you have added the channel, you can configure your hard disk drive (HDD) settings for your PC.

To configure your HDD settings:

• Click PC-NVR > Disk Management, then configure the following:

◦ When disk is full: Select Stop Recording or Overwrite.

CAUTION: Overwrite will save recorded video over the oldest saved files when your hard drive is full.

◦ Allocate: Enter hard drive space you would like FLIR PC-NVR to use.

TIP: FLIR PC-NVR is compatible with an external USB HDD.

FLIR Cloud PC-NVR installation and setup

You can set a recording schedule for each connected camera in FLIR PC-NVR.

To set a recording schedule for a camera:

1.Click Record Plan.

2.Select the channel you want to set a recording schedule for.

3.Select Continuous, Motion, or Alarm, then click and drag in the timeline of each day to customize the recording schedule.

◦ Continuous: Your camera will record continuously.

◦ Motion: Your camera will record when it detects motion.

◦ Alarm: Your camera will alert you when it detects motion.

TIP: Setting a recording schedule in FLIR PC-NVR does not affect the recording schedule set on your DVR / NVR system.

Your PC-NVR will behave as a virtual NVR system and save your recorded video to your PC. FLIR PC-NVR shows in the Device list and behaves like any other DVR / NVR system in the FLIR Cloud Client software.

1.Adding your DVR / NVR using IP address

Your LHV / LNR Series DVR / NVR system can be manually added to the FLIR Cloud Client software by entering the system IP address.

Prerequisites:

• Download and install the FLIR Cloud Client software

• Ensure you have the IP address of your LHV / LNR Series DVR / NVR system.

• The following instructions require you to access your system using the FLIR Cloud Client software and a PC / Mac. The instructions below are shown using a Windows 10 operating system.

To manually add the LHV / LNR Series DVR / NVR using an IP address:

1.Launch FLIR Cloud Client software on your computer to open the Login window.

2.Enter your login information. Refer to your user manual for your default Username and Password.

3.Click Login to open the Home window.

4.Click the Devices icon () to open the Devices tab.

5.Click Manual Add on the bottom-left corner to open the Manual Add window.

How do I install my E851AD camera with this product?

The E851AD camera equips a cable that exits from the bottom edge of the device, while other models equip cables that exit from the middle of the bottom side. Because of this, extra care must be taken to attach the outdoor junction box to the E851AD camera. Please follow the following steps for proper installation of your camera and outdoor junction box.

1.Install the bottom half of junction box to your desired location.

2.Remove the dome camera cover from the E851AD camera using the provided Allen key from the camera package.

Note: Do not remove the dome cover in humid or dusty environments and always wash your hands before handling your camera.

One device is linked to one user only. The NVR system can only be controlled by one authorized account, which can share the device with others to prevent attack or hacking.

There are 2 ways to share the device with others. For the admin user, please follow the instructions to share the device:

1.Type in “Menu Icon ” and navigate to “Devices”

2. Tape on “… ” > “Share”, You can select a single channel to share or select the entire NVR system to share

3.Share the device by typing in the user name you want to share and selecting the function as needed.

• The other user needs to register a Guard Viewer APP account and provide the user name for sharing.

• After that, when this user login the APP will find the device by navigating to “Devices”.

4.Share the device by generating a QR code

• Create a sharing password and set the valid period

• Click “Generate”, your APP will generate a QR code

• Other users can use the APP to add the device by scanning the QR code you sent

Four cameras or above not working is an abnormal situation. It’s not only a camera issue, which could be related to a power supply or power splitter connected to four cameras

(1）Change to another 12V 2A Power Supply to connect to four cameras to have a try. We wanna make sure if this is related to the power adapter

Verkada intercoms setup guide v1, Verkada’s intercom solution enables you to answer calls, grant entry, and secure entrances from anywhere.

Get Started with Verkada Intercom Set up and connect your Verkada intercoms Updated over a week ago

Required. You need Org Admin and/or Site Admin permissions for your Verkada Command organization to complete these actions.

What you need

• PoE-enabled switch or PoE injector

• DHCP-enabled network

• Cat5 or Cat6 cabling

Create a site

Sites are the logical way of grouping and managing devices within your Command organization. Site-level permissions make managing and viewing your devices easier. See Manage Your Sites and Subsites for more information on site creation and management.

Add an intercom

At least one intercom needs to be added to Command before you can see the Intercom tab in the All Products menu. Intercoms can be added to Command from the Devices page. See Add an Intercom to Your Site for more information.

Connect a door

You can pair an existing access-controlled door or wire a door to the intercom that can be unlocked by an intercom receiver. See Configure a TD52 and Wire a TD52 Video Intercom for more information.

Configure receivers

Receivers allow you to answer calls from an intercom and unlock any associated doors. See Add and Configure Receivers in Intercom for more information.

Licensing

Every intercom you manage in Command will need a license. Verkada licensing is applied for each Command organization, and the licenses co-term to a single expiration date. Your licenses may have been automatically added if you claimed your devices via order number. Otherwise, manually add the licenses from the Admin page. See Manage Your Licenses for more information on adding and managing licenses.

Connect your intercom

Recommendation. While Verkada intercoms are considered low-voltage devices that do not require a certified electrician to install, we strongly recommend you work with a system integrator or other professional for installation.

Power and network

Verkada intercoms use Power over Ethernet (PoE) for power and communication over the LAN. In most cases, intercoms will connect directly to an 802.3af PoE standard switch. PoE injectors can be used when a PoE switch is not available. See the intercom’s datasheet for more information.

Check network settings

Verkada intercoms are designed to be plug-and-play. However, if your environment includes a firewall with custom rules and policies, you may need to make some configuration changes to get your access controllers connected to the cloud. See Intercom Network Settings for more information.

This article describes the set of roles and associated permissions for Verkada Intercom.

• Permissions are set using roles, which define the level of access users and groups have to devices and settings within an organization and its sites/subsites.

• User permissions specify what tasks users can perform and what features users can access in Command.

• Site-level permissions define what access a particular user or group has to the cameras within the site. Site-level permissions are configured using roles.

Verkada intercoms setup guide v1

Verkada Intercom permissions determine who can receive calls, view intercom video, and unlock intercom doors. Intercom permissions depend on your site-level permissions, and whether you’re configured as a Receiver.

At a high level, these are the permissions granted to each level of Intercom devices:

Site-level roles

Receiver

Required. You must be configured as a receiver to receive calls.

If you’re a Verkada Intercom Receiver, you have the baseline receiver permissions (as shown above). These baseline Receiver permissions combine with site-level permissions to determine overall intercom permissions within a certain site.

For example, if you’re a Receiver for a particular intercom, and a Site Viewer, you get all the Receiver permissions, in addition to the ability to view historical video and events.

Note: Receivers, such as Desk Stations and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) phones are not tied to a Verkada Command user. This means that the user can only get Receiver permissions, regardless of the user’s site-level permissions.

Regardless of their site-level permissions, a Receiver can:

• Receive calls with video.

• See 24/7 live intercom video, even if not on an active call.

• Unlock the door both during and outside of a call.

• Talk down to the intercom.

Live-View Only

• Receive calls with video.

• See 24/7 live intercom video, even if not on an active call.

Site Viewer

• Receive calls with video.

• See 24/7 live intercom video, even if not on an active call.

Verify a user’s eligibility to receive Verkada Pass calls

• A user who has previously logged in to Verkada Pass has a black and white symbol next to their name in the call list. To verify, hover over the Verkada Pass symbol. The tooltip should show Pass App (as shown).

• A user who is configured as a Receiver and has never logged in to the Verkada Pass App should show Send Pass App Invite, which you can click to send an invite to that user.

Set Org Admin permissions

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.Select the user who you want to grant Org Admin permissions.

4.Click the User Actions dropdown and select Grant Org Admin.

5.When prompted to confirm, click Confirm.

Revoke Org Admin permissions

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.Click the User Actions dropdown and select Revoke Org Admin.

4.When prompted to confirm, click Confirm.

Set site and subsite permissions

You can set site and subsite permissions by adding a user, a group, or by existing users and groups.

Add a user

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.At the top right, click Add User.

4.On Add User:

1.Enter the user’s first name, last name, and email address.

2.(Optional) Check the Grant Organization Admin box to give Org Admin permissions.

3.Click Assign Groups to add them to one or more existing groups,

4.Click Add.

5.Under Site Roles, click Manage Roles and grant the user the desired role for each site and subsite.

Add a group

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Groups.

3.At the top right, click Create Group.

4.On Create Group, enter the group’s name, and click Create.

5.On Add Members to this Group, check the box next to the members you want to add to the group and click Add.

6.On the new group page, at the top, click Site Roles > Assign Roles.

7.On Assign Roles:

1.Under the Role column, select the permission level you want to assign for each site and subsite.

2.Click Save.

Existing users and groups

You can set the site and subsite permissions for existing users and groups by managing the user roles or the sites.

3.Select the desired user or group.

Note: Verkada devices are incompatible with LANs that require proxy servers or Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) inspection. If either is in use, a bypass for all Verkada devices must be implemented for Verkada devices to communicate with Verkada Command.

Status LED

A flashing blue status LED on the top of the intercom indicates the intercom is not communicating with Command. If you see this behavior, check that the network is set up correctly with the intercom’s requirements. If the problem persists, contact Verkada Support.

IP address

Intercoms must be assigned an IPv4 address to communicate on the LAN and to Verkada Command. Intercoms use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) to obtain their IP addresses and network configurations.

If you require your intercom to have a specific IP address, create a DHCP reservation using the device’s Media Access Control (MAC) address (found on the device’s label).

Domain Name System

Intercoms use the DNS server to resolve Verkada’s fully qualified domain names (FQDN) to IP addresses to communicate with them. Your DHCP server tells the intercom where the DNS server is on the network and the intercom communicates using UDP port 53.

Note: DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is currently not supported.

Power

Intercoms are powered through Power over Ethernet (PoE). This means the network switch needs to provide power to the intercom, or a PoE injector needs to be utilized. For specifics on power requirements, see the Intercom datasheet.

Firewall settings

Intercoms require access to many endpoints to ensure they can communicate with Command and all features will be accessible. Many customers may want to allow the intercoms to communicate with the general required endpoints.

Learn how to mount the Verkada TD52 Video Intercom

Use this article to learn how to mount a Verkada Intercom (TD52). Once you complete the mounting, you can connect the TD52 to the network.

Before you begin

You can mount the TD52 using a flush mount or using a mounting bracket. We recommend that you verify the contents of your box and make sure you have the tools you need

Contents of your box

• TD52 video intercom

• Flush mount plate

• T10 security Torx screwdriver

• 2 grommets

• Grommet punch

• 4 drywall screws

• 4 drywall anchors

• 4 M4x18mm machine screws

• 4 8–32¾” machine screws

Tools you need

• A working internet connection

• A smartphone or laptop

• A #2 Phillips head and power drill

• A level

Choose your mounting option

Whichever mounting option you choose, you should remove the front cover of the TD52 to access the screw holes that allow you to install on a mount.

1.At the bottom of the front cover, with a T10 security Torx screwdriver, remove the security screws.

2.Slide the front cover up and then out.

3.When the front cover is removed there are four screw holes in each corner of the TD52. You use these screw holes to install the TD52 to the mount.

Use a flush mount

The TD52 comes with a flush mount in the box. You can use the screw holes of the flush mount to mount the Intercom (see image below for visual):

• Legacy intercom back box (A)

• Direct wall mounting (B)

• 4 gang junction box mounting (C)

• You can use screw holes corresponding to A to mount to an existing intercom back box

• You can use screw holes corresponding to C to mount to a 4 gang junction box

Mount directly to a wall

1.Place and hold the flush mount plate and against the desired surface.

2.Using the mount plate as a template, mark the wall to line up with screw holes labeled “B”.

3.Drill pilot holes in to the wall:

1.For direct mounting, drill a .11 in (3mm) pilot hole.

2.If using wall anchors, drill a .23 inch (6mm) pilot hole.

4.Use the screws supplied to attach the mount plate to the wall.

5.With the flush mount plate on the wall, use the included Torx screwdriver to remove the screws on the bottom of the faceplate (front cover of the TD52).

6.Place the TD52 on top of the flush mount plate and install it using the supplied screws.

Use a mounting bracket

You can use the mounting bracket to install the TD52 on to various surfaces that the flush mount plate cannot, where they’re typically used to mount the TD52 on an exterior surface.

1.Place and hold the mounting bracket against the desired surface.

2.Using the mount as a template, mark surface through screw holes labeled “A”.

3.Drill pilot holes into the wall:

1.For direct mounting, drill a .11 in (3mm) pilot hole.

2.if wall anchors are being used drill a .23 inch (6mm) pilot hole.

4.Use the screws supplied to install the mounting bracket on the wall.

5.With the mounting bracket installed, remove the front cover from the TD52.

6.Place the TD52 on top of the mounting bracket and install it using the supplied screws.

After you purchase your system, this guide is a starting point for learning how to use your security camera system. How To Setup a Security Camera System?

The first phase in setup of a security camera system consists of installing the cameras and running the wire. The second phase is completing the connections between the cameras and the recorder, which depends on the type of camera system you have purchased.

How To Setup a DVR Camera System

DVR camera systems consist of security cameras that have BNC jacks to send video over coax wire, and a 12VDC power connector for power. Such coax wire based systems use RG59U siamese cables that have BNC and 12VDC power connectors at each end, which allow video and power to be run together over one “siamese cable.” As shown in the setup video below, BNC connectors are silver colored metal connectors that twist lock on to the video jacks of a camera and DVR recorder.

Infrequently, an installer may use network cabling with video baluns instead of coax cabling, which was very common with older CCTV systems to transmit video signal over long distances. Regardless of whether you are using coax wire or video baluns, setup of a DVR camera system is similar as demonstrated in the following video:

How To Setup a NVR Camera System

NVR camera systems use plug-and-play IP Cameras that connect directly to built-in PoE ports on the back of the NVR. Such systems are also commonly referred to as PoE IP camera systems because the cameras use Power over Ethernet technology to send power/video/data all over one network cable. We recommend using CAT5e cable as a minimum, and CAT6 wire is recommended for runs longer than 150ft as its thicker wire gauge allows for improved power transmission.

Our IP camera systems feature plug-and-play compatibility between the NVR and IP camera. Unless otherwise specified, we ensure the cameras and NVR we sell are compatible with each other and allow even a novice user to setup a IP security camera system.

To gain a good understanding of your purchase, we recommend customers bench test IP cameras with the NVR recorder before installing the cameras. Once it is established that all cameras are operational, continue with mounting the cameras at the desired location and running the camera wire. Since installation errors are common when crimping CAT5e or CAT6 network cable, we recommend using a cable continuity tester to safeguard against wiring related issues.

Once cameras are installed and wired to the digital video recorder it is time to login, and start using the system, which leads us to the third phase

How to use your surveillance system

1. How To Login to a Security Camera System

Before you are able to login to your camera system over the web, you need to login at the DVR or NVR itself using a mouse. Connect the recorder to a monitor that supports at least 1080P resolution. We recommend using a HDMI input capable monitor. Turn on the recorder and login using two possible login methods.

• When logging in at the recorder, most of our surveillance video recorders allow quick access using a graphical pattern as a password.

• You can also login using the username and password stated on the sticker located on the top of the unit.

In case you are unable to login due to a forgotten password, it is easy and secure to reset the password and gain entry into the unit. It is required that you be present at the recorder when following the video guide below on how to reset the login password. As shown in the video below, by answering some simple security questions you can quickly reset the login password.

2. Viewing Live Video and Audio on a Security System

All of our DVR Systems and HD NVR systems allow multiple viewing options. You can view multiple cameras in a grid-view or view one camera at a time in full screen mode. Full screen mode also allows the user to listen to audio from security cameras with built-in microphone. To hear audio from cameras, all of the following conditions must be met:

• Security camera has a built-in mic or you have an add-on security camera microphone connected to the DVR

• Audio sensing needs to be enabled on the system from the Encode menu

• A monitor with speakers is connected to the system using the HDMI video input

Regardless of whether you have an IP security camera system or DVR camera system, both provide the user with two types of zoom:

• Digital Zoom – digital magnification of the picture in live view or recorded video

• Optical Zoom – physical zoom using a camera lens to zoom-in when viewing live video

It is important to understand the difference between digital zoom and optical zoom, and the fact that optical zoom can only be used in live view mode. Below is a detailed video demonstration of each type of zoom function and how both can be utilized during live view to see objects far away. Using a 4MP security camera mounted 7ft above the object of interest, we show the power of optical zoom provided by a motorized zoom security camera to view objects in fine detail.

If your system has motorized zoom cameras or a outdoor PTZ camera that you purchased from CCTV Camera World, they can be easily controlled using our surveillance video recorders. Regardless of whether the motorized cameras are HDCVI or IP cameras, or whether your recorder is a DVR, XVR, or NVR, the cameras can be controlled using the friendly GUI interface of our systems as shown in the following video.

3. Setting Recording Resolution

A common misconception about our camera systems is that all cameras have to be the same resolution, which is not the case. Cameras of different resolutions can be used on the same recorder in any of our systems, granted the cameras are within the maximum resolution limit of the recorder. This is true for systems consisting of Tribrid DVR, XVR, or NVR recorders.
Encoding settings can be set individually for each camera channel. Depending on the maximum recording resolution supported by the recorder and the camera, our surveillance recorders allow up to 12MP recordings. All of our DVR and NVR recorders also have dual video encoding technology to provide two streams of video for each camera channel:

• Main Stream – high resolution video stream that can be a maximum value equal to the resolution of the camera’s sensor, or a lower value selected by the user if bandwidth is being conserved.

• Sub Stream – a lower resolution stream used when viewing multiple cameras in a grid on the computer or mobile device.

The Encoding menu has several settings that can be set. A good understanding of the following settings is important in getting the most out of our security camera system purchase from CCTV Camera World.

• Codec – is the video encoding compression method used. It can be H.265 or H.264 depending on the model of the camera and recorder. H.265 video encoding provides up to 50% bandwidth savings over H.264. To use H.265, both the camera and surveillance recorder have to support H.265.

• Resolution – is the size of the picture in pixels. When comparing video at the same angle of view (zoom length), higher resolution video provides facial detail farther away when using digital zoom for magnification. The resolution option available in this section depends on the camera resolution and whether it is compatible with the DVR or NVR. For example, a 12MP IP camera is not compatible with a 4K NVR that supports a maximum of 8MP. You would have to set the camera to 8MP or 4K resolution to use it with a 8MP 4K NVR. Likewise, a 4MP HDCVI camera is not compatible with a 1080P DVR unless the camera can be set to 1080P using a 4MP HDCVI DVR.

• Frame Rate – allows for adjusting how many frames per second (fps) are recorded from your camera. It also depends on the capabilities of the camera and DVR. 30fps is Real Time video without any frame skipping. To conserve hard drive space 1080P and higher resolution cameras are commonly recorded at 15fps. You would use 30fps only for quick motion applications like license plate capture cameras or for cameras overlooking a cash register. Here is a quick video demonstrating the differences between video filmed at FPS settings of 30 thru 3fps.

• Bitrate – is the amount of data per second that is saved for each security camera. Having a low bitrate would cause the video to be very pixelated as the video is compressed more. For example, attempting to save H.264 encoded 4MP resolution video of 20fps at 2mbps would cause the video to be pixelated and seem of poor quality. A bit rate that is too high would have diminishing returns as it wouldn’t improve video quality beyond a certain point.
We recommend first selecting the codec, resolution, and frame rate; our digital video recorders will recommend a bit rate based on the selected settings. As a guide, use the below bitrate settings for optimal video recording if hard drive space is of ample capacity in your system.

4. Customizing Video Settings

We manufacture our cameras to produce the best possible picture quality automatically. Sometimes peculiar lighting scenarios in a scene may require customization. Our DVRs and NVRs allow multiple picture quality settings to be modified from the recorder as explained in the detailed video tutorial below. It is important to note that there is a difference in capabilities to modify image settings when comparing coax based cameras versus IP cameras.

Coax based cameras produce video that is encoded by the DVR, thus allowing picture quality to be modified before the video is saved by the DVR. In contrast, IP cameras encode video that is streamed to the NVR for saving the video stream; the video is not encoded by the NVR. Therefore, any changes made in the picture settings on the NVR must be communicated back to the IP security camera. If an incompatible IP camera is used with an NVR, such changes will not be communicated to the IP camera, and changes will not apply before video is encoded by the camera.

Our systems allow a wide variety of picture settings to be toggled depending on the camera specifications. In addition to picture brightness and contrast, the user can toggle image quality features such as backlighting, glare compensation (WDR), and image flip.

5. Recording Method Configuration

All of our security systems offer a variety of video recording methods. Each security camera can be set to record independently and the user has the option to choose from the following recording methods:

• Stop – no video is recorded at all

• Manual – continuous recording that is 24/7

• Scheduled – the user can set different times of the day for each day of the week

• Motion Detection – when pixel changes in the video are detected, video will be recorded automatically. The user can set different sensitivity settings and specify certain areas of the picture as motion zones for each camera to reduce false positive motion events.

The digital video recorders in our systems even allow multiple recording methods for each camera. For example, cameras can be set to record all the time or during a portion of the day using the scheduled recording method, while also recording upon motion detection. This preserves video integrity in case a motion event is missed, and is very helpful when reviewing recorded security footage to allow the user to skip to points in the timeline when motion is detected. 6. Playback Recorded Video on your Surveillance System

To download video from any of our standalone recorders you will need a USB flash drive that is formatted with the NTFS or FAT file system. The flash drive should not be more than 256GB. Installation

1.Connect a solid wire Cat5e or Cat6 network cable to your PoE Switch/NVR’s “PoE Port” and to your receiver’s “PoE IN” port.

2.Connect the coaxial BNC cable to the “Long Reach” ports on both your receiver and transmitter.

3.Connect a solid wire Cat5e or Cat6 network cable to your IP Camera’s Ethernet connector and to your transmitter’s “PoE OUT” port.

4K IP Wired Dome Security Camera with Smart Deterrence: Installation

This article provides instructions on how to install and connect 4K Smart Deterrence IP Dome Camera with Smart Motion Detection Plus (E893DD Series) to the NVR.

Before Installing

• Test your camera prior to selecting a permanent mounting location by temporarily connecting the camera and cable to your NVR.

• Decide whether to run the cables through the wall/ceiling (drilling required) or along the wall/ceiling. If you run the cables along the wall/ceiling, you must run the cable through the cable notch located on the camera base (see figure below). This will keep the camera base flush to the surface when mounted.

Installing 4K Smart Deterrence IP Dome Camera

1.Use the included mounting template to mark holes for the screws and camera cable.

2.Drill holes for the screws and camera cable. Insert the optional anchors if installing in drywall.

3.Feed the camera cable through the camera base. If you are running cables along a wall/ceiling, make sure to pass the cable through the cable notch.

4.Connect cables as shown in “Connecting the camera”, pages 10-11.

5.Use a Philips screwdriver and the screws to attach the camera base to the mounting surface.

6.Angle the dome camera and cover as shown in the figure below.

7.Use the included Allen key to tighten the dome camera firmly onto the camera base.

8.Remove the vinyl film from the camera lens once your installation is complete.

Connecting 4K Smart Deterrence IP Dome Camera

Connect the cameras and cables to your NVR using one of the following two setup methods.

1. Connect cameras directly to the NVR (recommended)

Connect the Ethernet cable to the camera and then connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the NVR’s PoE ports. The camera may take a minute to power on after being connected.

Note: A 12V DC power adapter (model#: ACCPWR12V1, not included) is only required if connecting the camera’s Ethernet cable to a router or switch that does not support PoE.

Notes:

• The smart deterrence camera is only compatible with select NVRs. For a list of compatible NVRs, visit lorextechnology.com/compatibility.

• You must connect the camera to a supporting H.265 NVR to take advantage of H.265 compression. For instructions on enabling H.265 compression, visit How do I enable H.265 compression?

2. Connect cameras to a PoE switch or router on your network (not included)

Connect the Ethernet cable to the camera and then connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a router or switch on your network. See your NVR manual for details on connecting the camera to your NVR using a router or switch.

Using the RJ45 cable gland (optional)

The pre-attached RJ45 cable gland covers both the camera’s Ethernet connector and the RJ45 plug to provide weather-resistance and protection from dust, dirt and other environmental contaminants.

To use the RJ45 cable gland, twist the RJ45 cable gland barrel securely onto the camera’s Ethernet connector.

Tip: The RJ45 cable gland is weather-resistant. Seal the cap with silicone and/or electrical tape for additional sealing if it will be exposed to precipitation regularly.

Cable extension options

You can extend the Ethernet cable run for your camera up to 300ft (91m). To extend the cable run beyond 300ft (91m), a switch will be required (sold separately). Use an RJ45 coupler or a network switch (not included) to connect male ends of Ethernet cables together. We recommend using UL CMR approved cables available at lorex.com.

4K IP Wired Dome Security Camera with Smart Deterrence: Getting Started

This article provides instructions on how to setup the 4K Smart Deterrence IP Dome Camera with Smart Motion Detection Plus (E893DD Series).

Important Installation Guidelines

The optimal installation location, including the height and angle of your camera, will depend on the type of detection settings that you want to enable. Since the optimal angle for person and vehicle detection is different from the optimal angle for face detection, you will need to select one approach.

Note: You cannot enable both face detection and person and vehicle detection at the same time.

Based on your detection preference choose between:

1. Optimizing person and vehicle detection accuracy

• Choose a location where objects of interest will be no further than 50ft (15m) from the camera.

• Install the camera between 8-16ft (2.5-5m) off the ground.

• Angle the camera between 30-60° down from the level position.

• Optimal accuracy for objects of interest appear in the bottom 2/3 of the camera image.

• Point the camera where there is the least amount of obstructions (i.e. tree branches).

Accuracy of person and vehicle detection

Accuracy will be influenced by multiple factors, such as the object’s distance from the camera, the size of the object, and the height and angle of the camera. Night vision will also impact the accuracy of detection.

2. Optimizing face and mask detection accuracy

• Install in a bright area and avoid facing direct sunlight with strong backlights and dark shadows.

• Choose a location where objects of interest will be no further than 15ft (4.5m) from the camera.

• Position the camera 10ft (3m) off the ground to detect the full proportion of a face.

• Angle the camera around 15° down from the level position.

• Point the camera directly where objects of interest will be facing.

High accuracy Vs. low accuracy face detection

Accuracy will be influenced by lighting conditions and the distance/angle of a person’s face to the camera.

• To distinguish facial features, the camera must be positioned head on with a clear view of a person’s face. Obscured and partially/fully covered faces will not be accurately captured.

• To improve the range of face detection in low light conditions, color night vision will switch to black & white. If you cannot meet these requirements for installation, it may be best to follow the guidelines for person and vehicle detection instead.

Mask detection

With face detection enabled, you can set the alarm type to detect if a person is not wearing a mask. A person not wearing a mask or improperly wearing a mask will be captured in the face preview sidebar and a notification will be sent through the Lorex App.

• Enable Mask Detect and Auto-response to remind a non-mask wearer to: “Please wear your face mask”.

4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence IP Camera: Installation Guide

This article provides instructions on how to install and connect 4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence IP Camera (E893AB Series) to the NVR.

Before Installing

• Test your camera prior to selecting a permanent mounting location by temporarily connecting the camera and cable to your NVR.

Installing 4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence IP Camera

1.Use the included mounting template to mark holes for the screws.

2.Use a 3/16” drill bit to drill holes for the mounting screws. Insert the included drywall anchors if you are installing the camera in drywall.

3.Connect cables as shown in Connecting 4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence IP Camera below.

4.Feed the cable through the mounting surface or cable notch and mount the camera stand to the surface using the included screws.

5.Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the adjustment screw and adjust the camera position as needed.

6.Tighten the adjustment screw to secure the position.

7.Remove the vinyl film from the camera lens when your installation is complete.

Connecting 4K Ultra HD Smart Deterrence IP Camera

Connect the cameras and cables to your NVR using one of the following two setup methods.

1. Connect cameras directly to the NVR (recommended).

How to use Webcam on Surveillance Station on QNAP NAS? This tutorial is only for QUSBCam. QNAP has released QUSBCam2, an app that allows USB cameras to be used as remotely manageable IP (ONVIF) cameras. QNAP recommends using QUSBCam2 to reduce CPU usage, improve system stability, and simplify your surveillance setup.

Overview

Video surveillance systems can sometimes be too expensive and difficult to maintain for general home users. By supporting webcam monitoring & recording, QNAP Turbo NAS offers an affordable and easy-to-use option for home and small office security. The Surveillance Station app on Turbo NAS is capable of 24/7 recording, taking screenshots, and allows you to remotely view live video streams and recorded files anytime, anywhere.

Webcam surveillance requirements

You will need a webcam with a built-in UVC (USB Video Class) driver. You may refer to the following lists for compatible webcams:

Configure Surveillance Station for webcam recording

1. Connect a USB webcam

Connect a USB webcam to a USB port on the Turbo NAS. If the webcam is supported, it will be listed as a log showing a generic UVC camera in “Control Panel” > “System Settings” > “System Logs” on the NAS.

2. Install the QUSBCam QPKG from App Center (either Automatically or Manually)

Automatic installation: Install the QPKG from “App Center” > “Surveillance” > “QUSBCam” of the NAS.

Manual installation: Download the QUSBCam QPKG from the App Center on the QNAP website. Then you can install it by clicking the “Install Manually” button and by selecting the location of the QUSBCam QPKG to start installing.

3. Configure webcam in QUSBCam

First, open “QUSBCam”.

Video settings can be configured here.

4. Configure Surveillance Station

a. Install Surveillance Station

• Auto installation: Go to “App Center” > “Surveillance” > “Surveillance Station” and click “Add to QTS” to start installation.

• Manual installation: Download the Surveillance Station QPKG from the App Center on the QNAP website. Then you can install it by clicking the “Install Manually” button and by selecting the location of the Surveillance Station QPKG to start installing.

Please note: To ensure proper operations of Surveillance Station, we recommend rebooting the Turbo NAS after its installation is completed.

b. Configure the webcam on Surveillance Station with required settings: (Please check the detailed settings in QUSBCam, “HTTP URL” may vary by different situation.)

Please note: Before applying new settings, you can click “Test” on the right to check that the connection to your webcam is successful.

After you have added the USB webcam camera to your Turbo NAS, go to the “Monitor” page. If it is your first time accessing this page in your web browser, you will have to install an ActiveX control (QMon.cab) before using Monitor or Playback functions. Please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You can use Surveillance Station in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Play Video Files from Surveillance Station

Click or to enter the playback page and follow the steps below to play video files on the remote Surveillance Station.

1. Drag and drop camera(s) from the server/camera tree to the respective playback window(s) to select the channel(s) for playback.

2. Select a playback date using You can examine each channel to discover the time range when files were recorded using each camera. Blue cells indicate regular recording files. If it is blank, it means that no files were recorded at that time.

3. Click to begin playback. You can control the speed and playback direction by dragging the buttonto left or right of the shuttle bar.

4. Specify the time to play back the recording files. You can view a preview image on the timeline bar to search for the moment you want to play.

5. Click to control all the playback windows to play back the recording files. When this function is enabled, the playback options (play, pause, stop, previous/next frame, previous/next file, speed adjustment) will be applied to all of the playback windows.

How to Use QUSBCam2 with USB Cameras?

Overview

QUSBCam2 transforms USB cameras (webcam)(*1) into IP cameras with ONVIF compatibility and full support for the RTSP protocol. Its live view does not require any extra plug-ins in your browser, and it is a handy surveillance tool for homes and small offices.

How to View a Live Stream on QUSBCam2

1.Install USB Camera
After connecting the USB camera to the NAS, the USB camera appears on the USB Device page.

2.Set as channel
After installing the USB camera, go to Channel List and click “Create Channel” to create a QUSBCam2 channel.

Set the channel name and video or audio configuration.
Note: Only MJPEG format supports the live function.

3.Check the Channel List
Go to Channel List and check if the thumbnail image of the USB camera is available. If you see the live button, it means that the camera supports the live function.

Configure Surveillance Station for Webcam Recording

Go to “Surveillance Station” > “Camera Configuration” and then click “Add”. Select “Search camera(s) automatically” and then click “Next”.

For Search type, select “ONVIF” and then select the QUSBCam2 camera. Click “OK”.

Surveillance Station automatically completes the camera information except for the user name and password. Use the same login credentials for the NAS that you are using.

Note: Before applying the new settings, you can click “Test” to check the connection to your QUSBCam2 camera.

Click to launch the QVR client to see the live video and recording.
