Frequently Asked Questions

Note: These guides were written for Uniview NVR users who prefer to change settings remotely using a mobile or desktop browser (Internet Explorer). Remote and local configurations share many similarities and only the locations and availability of each feature may vary. The Uniview NVR Manual can provide more information if what you are looking for is not found in this simple guide or if you prefer local access by connecting a mouse and display to your NVR.

How Do I Access My Uniview Security System?

There are two ways to interface with your Univew Security System and to access all its features and configuration options you can choose to access it locally or remotely. Local access refers to connecting your Network Video Recorder to a display and a USB mouse. The monitor and the mouse will serve as the input-output for interfacing. Remote access refers to connecting to your Network Video Recorder through a browser (Internet Explorer provides the greatest compatibility) installed on a device that is in the same network as the Security System.

Local Access and First Time Setup

The NVR interface can be accessed directly by simply connecting the NVR to a display (this can be done with an HDMI or older VGA cable) and to a mouse. Once the display and the mouse is connected and the login screen is displayed, proceed to login. Since this is the first time, we will be using the default username and password (at the time of writing default login and password are admin and 123456) found on the manual that came with the NVR. 

After logging in, Uniview’s privacy policy will be shown for you to review. Once you have reviewed and accepted, you will immediately gain access to the NVR and cameras connected to it. But, since it is the first time we are logged in and we are still using the default credentials, we will be prompted to change the login information.  You will be using the new password for all your future access with the NVR.

Once the password has been changed, a pattern lock will also be prompted (this is optional and can be skipped). After doing so, the Privacy Policy will be displayed for the user to review. The screen that follows the Privacy Policy will let us connect our mobile devices to the NVR. This will grant access to Live View, alerts, and other configurations we may want.

The device QR code will be presented here. Allowing you access to the EZCloud feature. Devices can be added to the cloud manually but it is far easier to just use a link given from the QR code. If you want to pair the NVR with the EZView app, click here to read more about it. 

The next step is to set or synchronize the time. This step will ensure that all scheduling configurations you will set and all alerts and alarm information will be accurate and will work based on your local time.

After this, you will be prompted to check the TCP/IP settings, the default settings will work for most people. If you need to specify networking (usually when DHCP is not enabled on other devices on the network), please do so here. You will still be able to alter this later.

Once the time and the password have been configured, you are now ready to enable and disable the features of the NVR.

To access the menu, you can right-click on any part of the screen and then click on Menu. It can also be accessed along with other options by moving your cursor to the bottom left of the screen. This will take you to the SETUP screen where you can enable and customize alerts, features, and other options available to you.

Remote Access and First Time Setup

You can also access the NVR interface through the use of a browser on a device connected to the same network as the NVR. To do this, you will need the IP address of the NVR you wish to connect to. The easiest way to find this on a Windows PC is with Uniview’s EZTools which can be downloaded here. Once installed on your computer, running the EZtools will automatically show you all connected Uniview devices.

The IP address can also be obtained by logging into your router and checking connected devices, using the command prompt (arp -a command and checking for new devices on the private network) or simply using another display for the NVR to check the current IP address of the device.

Note: Any browser should work to alter configurations, however using Internet Explorer will be the easiest to access the live view. (due to some newer browsers not supporting certain plugins). 

From here, we can see the IP address given by our router to the NVR. 192.168.254.192. It will likely be different for you. Clicking on the Remote Web button will open your default browser and take you to the NVR interface.

You can then proceed to login to your Uniview NVR Interface. Since this is the first time, we will be using the default username and password found on the manual that came with the NVR. After logging in, Uniview’s privacy policy will be shown for you to review. Once you have reviewed and accepted, you will immediately gain access to the NVR and cameras connected to it. But, since it is the first time we are logged in and we are still using the default credentials, we will be prompted to change the login information. You will be using the new password for all your future access with the NVR.

Once the password has been updated, you will be greeted by the Live View display. Clicking on any of the cameras found on the left will show you live footage from it. In this case, a single IP camera is connected to the 4-Channel NVR.

From here, you can now click on SETUP to access all configurations and features and set them up to your preference.

How Do I Start Recording And Scheduling?

Once properly installed and powered, most Uniview Security System immediately starts recording and saving footage to the Hard Disk Drive. To configure when and what types of footage you choose to save, you only need to navigate to the Recording Schedule tab.

Navigation: Setup > Camera > Schedule

Pre-Record and Post-Record:

If the Pre-Record and Post-Record values are set to 60 seconds and 300 seconds respectively and using motion detection as a trigger, here is how it will play together:

Event-Types:

The setup that is shown on the screenshot above can be interpreted this way. During weekdays, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the system will monitor and record all footage into memory. The rest of the day, the system will not record anything unless a motion trigger or an alarm event is detected. During weekends, the system will not record anything except for motion-triggered events. During holidays, the system will not record anything unless an event is triggered.

How Do I View Playback, Timeline, and Events?

The Playback tab is found between the Live View and Setup tabs of your Uniview Web-Based Interface. As always, Internet Explorer would provide the widest range of options not available to other browsers.

Navigation: Playback

The playback sidebar is the first point of interest. The top drop-down allows you to filter what types of playback you wish to view. The options are as follows:

Normal: Default playbacks and scheduled recording sessions.

Tag: Shows a playback list that matches a tag keyword.

To utilize this feature, you will need to create tags on certain times you want to save for future reference. To do this, click on the time you want to create your tag and click on the Add Customized Tag button on the toolbar as shown here:

A window will open that allows you to name your tag and adjust the time.

After clicking OK, the new tag will be created. To search for tagged footage, change the filter into Tag, click on the Camera, specify the Keyword, set the time range to search between, and then click search as shown below:

This will display all tagged footage that matches the Keywords.

Event: Shows playback list for a matching event. Very similar to the above example but a simpler approach is only looking for footage of recorded events. To use this function change the filter to Event, choose a specific Event-Type from the drop-down list, select the Camera, specify the Time Range the system will search. Click search. This will display all events that match the Event-Type captured by the camera within the time range.

Smart: The system analyzes recordings for smart search results. 

How Do I Monitor And Manage My Storage?

To monitor and manage your storage, you will need to access the Hard Disk group on the setup. The settings and their functions are explained below.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Hard Disk

Hard Disk

This tab shows you details of the current storage situation of your NVR. The total capacity and the available free space can be monitored from this tab alongside options to add and more storage.

Disk Group

This tab allows the creation and management of Disk Groups. A handy tool if managing a large number of Hard Disks and to simplify storage allocation.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Disk Group

The disk group feature allows us to assign hard disks to a disk group and use the disk group to store recordings and snapshots of specified cameras. Different arrays can be assigned to different disk groups. Redundant disks cannot be assigned to any disk group. Disk group information will be initialized if any disk in the group is formatted.

Allocate Space

This tab allows setting a maximum storage allocation for each camera on a disk group.

Navigation: Setup > Hard Disk > Allocate Space

Advanced

This tab will determine what the Network Video Recorder will do once the Hard Disk Drives are full and new footage needs to be saved. Setting this to Overwrite should allow the NVR to delete older footage to make space for new ones to be saved while setting this to Stop will prevent any new recordings to be saved.

How Do I Set Up Tamper Detection?

To set up Tamper Detection, you will need to access the Tampering section of the Camera Setup.

How Do I Set Up Motion Detection?

How Do I Set Up Face Detection?

The Face Detection feature creates an EVENT when a person’s face is detected by the Video Content Analysis. It will then proceed to take screenshots of the person or persons detected.

How Do I Set Up Line Crossing Detection?

The Cross Line Detection feature creates an EVENT when an object crossed a specified line. This feature has 3 modes. A<->B which creates an event whenever an object crosses the line. A->B which only triggers when an object moves from side A to side B. B->A which only triggers when an object moves from side B.

How Do I Set Up Intrusion Detection?

The Intrusion Detection feature creates an EVENT when an object that meets the minimum size relative to the region (based on percentage) enters any of the specified regions and stays inside the region past the minimum time threshold.

How Do I Set Up People Counting?

The people counting feature is used to monitor the number of people entering or leaving an area.

Resetting your UNV NVR’s Password (3 Ways)

Overview

When an NVR password is lost or forgotten, configuration and playback become locked off from view. This tutorial will guide you through resetting your UNV password in a variety of ways, making it easy and convenient to recover access to your device without the need for assistance.

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes you have already gone through the initial setup of your NVR and created an account on the EZView mobile application. Part 1: Local Password Reset (NVR Direct/EZView)

Step 1

Starting at the Live View screen, follow the below steps to access the login screen from the NVR directly:

Right Click Anywhere on Live View > Menu

Step 1.1

If you have a pattern lock, click “Forgot Pattern” to get to the login screen. Once at the login screen, click “Forgot Password”.

Step 2

You may be asked to type in an email in order to continue. At this point, you must type in an email. Please note that you have to be able to access this email in order to reset your password, so please make sure it is an email you can log into. Additionally, please verify that you have spelled the email correctly. If you misspell the email, you cannot go back to change it and will not be able to reset your password in this manner.

After typing your email into the email field, click NEXT or OK. You will be greeted with a screen that has your serial number, email address and a QR code for you to scan.

Step 3

From here, open up your EZView application. If you have not already created an account on EZView, do so now. CLICK HERE for a tutorial on EZView account creation.

Step 3.1

At the Live View screen of the EZView mobile application, click on the three lines on the top left-hand side of your screen.

Step 3.2

This will bring up the main menu of the application. Once this menu is open, click “Local Config”.

Step 3.3

You will be greeted with the local configuration menu. At the very bottom of the menu, click “Forgot Device Password”.

Step 4

This will open up your phone’s camera. You may see a popup window asking you for permission to use your phone’s camera. You must allow this permission to continue. Additionally, a box will appear with instructions on where to scan on your device. You can safely close this box, assuming you have followed the steps above.

Step 4.1

Using the box on your phone’s camera, scan the QR code on your NVR’s menu.

Please note: The white box in the middle of the QR code is only there to prevent successful scanning for the purposes of the screenshot. Your QR code will not have this white box.

Step 4.2

Once the QR code scans successfully, you will be taken to a screen confirming your email. Click “Ok” to have the code sent to your email.

Step 5

Check your email to find the security code. Please allow for up to 15 minutes for the email to be sent to you. Additionally, check your Spam/Junk folder to verify that your code did not send to those folders. Once you have your code, return to your NVR’s forgot password screen.

Step 6

You will see a field next to the words “Security Code”. Type your security code into that field.

Step 7

You will be brought to a screen asking you to change your password.

If there is a field for “Security Code”, please reenter the security code into this field.

New Password: This is where you will type in your new password. Please note that your password must be considered a “STRONG” password to work. A strong password is typically at least eight characters long with a number and special character (!, @, #, $, etc)

Confirm Password: This is where you will retype in your new password in order to confirm it. Please note that your passwords must match in both the New Password and Confirm Password field in order to save correctly.

Part 2: Local Password Reset (NVR Web GUI/EZView)

Please Note: This section of the tutorial assumes you have the local IP address of your UNV NVR. If you do not know the local IP address, please CLICK HERE for a tutorial on finding the local IP address of your NVR.

Step 1

After typing the local IP Address into the URL bar of your web browser, you will be brought to the login splash screen of the NVR. On the right side of the Password field, you will see a blue hyperlink that says “Forgot Password”. Click there.

Step 2

You will be required to have an email set in the NVR to continue. If you have not done so already, please reference Step 2 of Part 1 of this tutorial. Once you have entered an email and click “Forgot Password”, you will be greeted with a Retrieve Password pop up menu.

Step 3

Please reference Steps 3 through 5 of Part 1 of this tutorial for acquiring the security code for your UNV NVR. Please note that, instead of scanning the QR code directly on the NVR itself, you may scan the QR code on the above “Retrieve Password” screen instead. Additionally, once you have acquired the security code for your UNV NVR, you may type it into the Security Code field under the QR code on your web GUI.

Step 4

You will be brought to a screen asking you to change your password.

If there is a field for “Security Code”, please reenter the security code into this field.

New Password: This is where you will type in your new password. Please note that your password must be considered a “STRONG” password to work. A strong password is typically at least eight characters long with a number and special character (!, @, #, $, etc)

Confirm Password: This is where you will retype in your new password in order to confirm it. Please note that your passwords must match in both the New Password and Confirm Password field in order to save correctly.

Part 3: Remote Password Reset (EZCloud)

Please Note: This tutorial assumes you have already created an EZCloud/EZView account and have added your UNV NVR to your account. If you have not done so already, please CLICK HERE for a tutorial on creating an EZCloud/EZView account and registering your device to your account.

Step 1

Open either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome on your computer. In the URL bar, type:

http://en.ezcloud.uniview.com

This will bring you to the EZCloud login page. You will need to log into your EZCloud/EZView account to proceed. Type in your username/email and password for your account and click “login”.

Step 2

After clicking “Login”, you will be brought to your Device page.

Step 2.1

If the device is registered directly to your account, you will see the name of the device in the “My Cloud Devices” menu, which appears first by default. If this is the case, skip to Step 3.

Step 2.2

If the device is registered to another account and has been shared to you, you will see the name of the device in the “Devices Shared to Me” tab of your menu. Click there to see your device listed in the menu.

Step 3

You will see your device in the menu. It will have the External IP Address of the device, the Device Name, model and organization, as well as the last time it was accessed online, the status and an operation menu.

Step 3.1

In the “Operation Menu”, you will see 5 icons. For the purposes of this tutorial, please click the icon that looks like a key. This is the “Retrieve Password” icon.

Step 4

You will be brought to a Retrieve Password screen. On it, you will see your Device Name and Registration Code, which cannot be changed. Additionally, you will see a field for Device Date, your email (which cannot be changed) and a Verification Code.

Step 4.1

First, select the date that your NVR is set to. Typically, this is the same date as real time.

Step 4.2

Click “Acquire” next to the email field. This will begin the process of sending off a verification code to your email address. Please note that this email could take up to 15 minutes to arrive and may send to your Spam/Junk mail folder. Please check these folders if you have not received your email after 15 minutes.

Step 4.3

Once you receive your verification code, type it into the Verification Code field and click “Generate Password”. This will generate a temporary password for your device. Please copy this password to your clipboard or write the password down. Please note that the password IS CASE SENSITIVE, meaning you must enter the password just like you see it, with any capital letters capitalized.

Step 4.4

Once you have copied your temporary code, click the blue hyperlink on the bottom of the menu, next to the words “Log in now:”

Step 5

You will automatically logged into the NVR, as you do not need a password to access the device over the cloud. Once the Live View page loads, click “Setup” on the top of the screen.

Step 6

You will be brought to the NVR’s setup menu. For the purposes of this tutorial, please navigate to the ‘user” tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

Step 6.1

Click the “User” sub menu to open the User menu.

Step 6.2

Left click the ‘admin’ account to highlight the admin account. (It will turn blue)

Step 6.3

Click the “Modify button above the account list. This will bring you to the modification screen to update your password.

Step 7

You will have several empty fields in the Modification screen.

Step 7.1

Old Password: Type the Temporary Password into this field. It will act as your old password for the purposes of updating your pasword.

Step 7.2

Password: Type your new password into this field. Please note that your password must be considered STRONG to continue. Typically, a strong password is at least eight characters with a capital letter, a number and a special character.

Step 7.3

Confirm: Re type your new password into the field to confirm it. Please note that your passwords must match in both the New Password and Confirm Password field in order to save correctly.

Step 7.4

Click the “Save” button at the bottom left-hand side of the menu. This will verify and save your new password.

How to group Uniview Devices in EZStation

Note: EZStation should already be installed and and running.

1. Click Device Management

2. Click the Group button

3. Click the plus button, type in a name in the Group info window, then click Add.

4. Click Import Camera, select the cameras you want to add to the group by checking the box next to the model number.  Lastly, click the Import Selected button to add them to the Group folder on the right.

5. Repeat the steps again for any additional groups that need to be created.

Adding a Uniview Dual Lens PTZ to a Uniview NVR

Step 1:  Open the web interface for the NVR and go to Setup->Camera->Camera.   Next click the button labeled “Auto Search” and wait a few seconds for it to populate with a list of cameras.

Step 2:  Select the PTZ from the list by checking the box to the left of the IP address. Click the OK button to add the PTZ to the NVR.  (Notice on the Qty column the dual lenz PTZ has a “2” where the other IP cameras have a 1.   This essentially means we can add it to the NVR twice, once for each lens on the PTZ.)

Step 3: On the camera page you should now have two new devices added with the same IP address, one for each lens on the PTZ.

-The Status column will show blue camera icons when connecting the camera, if successful the camera icons will turn green.

-If unsuccessful the icons will turn grey, if so hover your mouse over one of them and it will give you a short message on why it did not connect.

Step 4 (Optional): If you didn’t change the default password on the PTZ it will be connected to the NVR without any additional actions needed.  You’re all set, click the Live View tab to view the PTZ streams.

If the password on the PTZ was changed prior to adding it to the NVR and you are getting the “wrong username or password” message select one of the channels that were added and click the Modify button.  Type in the password that you created for the PTZ in the password field then click the Save button.   Lastly, do the same thing for the second channel stream.

Once you have the password set for both channels the Status icons should turn green (you may need to click the Refresh button a few times).  Now go to the Live View tab to view both PTZ streams.

How to Setup Audio

Audio can be very helpful in CCTV when installing cameras around POS systems, medical buildings, and conference rooms.
The convenience of IP cameras with Audio is that no cables have to be run back to the recorder. All audio will be encoded in the camera and sent through the network to be recorded.

Connecting Microphone to Camera

Each Audio enabled camera has a two wire lead coming out of the pigtail. One is positive and the other is ground, they should be labelled. The best way to connect a MIC to these cables and get the best audio quality is to have a MIC with a RCA connection. Follow the steps below to connect the RCA MIC to the two audio wires.

1. Connect a Video balun to the two audio wires coming from the camera. Positive wire into the positive side of the balun and gray ground into the negative side of the balun.
2. Next connect a BNC to RCA Male connector to the BNC side of the video balun
3. Next plug the RCA Male connector into the MIC’s RCA Female port.

At this point the MIC will need to be powered. If the camera model number is IPC3234SR3-DVZ28 the camera’s 12 volt input can be changed in the camera maintain settings to be a 12 volt output. This output can then power the MIC using the power the camera is getting from PoE. All other camera models will need a 12 volt power ran to the MIC.

1. After the MIC is powered log into the camera on the web browser.
2. Once logged into the camera navigate to Setup > Video & Audio > Audio and change the Audio enable to On for both the Main and Substreams.

Listening To Audio On The NVR

On a Uniview recorder, to listen to the Audio from the camera the first thing is to set the video stream to have the audio enabled. To enable the audio stream open the main menu of the recorder and navigate to Camera > Video > and then select the camera channel number under Camera ID. Once the camera is selected and its encode settings are being displayed change the Audio Stream to On.

After the audio is turned on for the camera exit the main menu and bring the live view images up.
Next select the camera that audio is on so that its channel box is highlighted in yellow. After the camera is selected a small drop down menu will display under or above the camera. In this small menu there is an Audio enable button that looks like a speaker, click this button to enable the camera’s audio. Remember that to hear audio the monitor will need speakers and the video will need to be over HDMI not VGA.

How to setup PTZ control & Basic Functions

PTZs are a great solution to supplement with a CCTV system as it gives the user the ability to Pan and Tilt the camera around as well as optically zooming in on areas of importance.

In this guide, we will be showing how to control the PTZ and its basic functions. This guide will be from the PTZs web interface from a windows-based PC.

Live View Controls

Basic Settings

• Preset Image Freeze
  • When enabled, this function captures a still image and holds it until the camera has moved to the next selected preset, eliminating jarring transitions.
• Stop PTZ Control After Timeout
  • PTZ Manual Control will stop after timeout time.
• Timeout(s)
  • Alloted amount of seconds before the PTZ timeouts
• PTZ Rectification
  • PTZ will reinitialize its preset configuration. Only use this if you notice the PTZ drifting.

Home Position

PTZ camera will return to home position if no operation is made within a specified period.
Note: You need to add presets or a patrol route first. See Add a preset and Add a patrol route for
details

• Mode
  • Preset or Patrol
• ID
  • Choose which preset or patrol for the Home Position
• Idle State(s)
  • PTZ will resume Home Position Mode after allotted number of seconds.

Limit

Set rotation limits to prevent the PTZ camera from hitting obstacles such as a wall.

Remote Control

When the third-party platform is used and the PTZ protocol does not match that, you can set the
remote control function to control the PTZ.

• Listener Port
  • Camera’s local port, which cannot be a port that is already in use. Change the
    default setting only when necessary.
• Address Code
  • The camera can read the address code contained in instructions. The camera
    interprets the instruction only when the address code in the instruction is the
    address code configured here.

Patrol

• Resume Patrol
  • Set the time when patrol resumes.

Configuring WDR

WDR Stands for Wide Dynamic Range. WDR is used when a camera is installed inside a building facing
towards and window or door and allows the camera to see inside and outside with no over exposure or
dark spots.
The WDR on Uniview’s IPC354SR3-ADNPF28-F is 120DB allowing for sight in even the most dramatic of light differences.

Setting up a camera for WDR can be done from the recorder or from being logged directly into the
camera. On the camera the settings are located under “Setup > Image > Exposure”, then turn the
“WDR” setting to “On”

WDR Level/Sensitivity setting will be adjusted based on where the camera is installed and how much of
a light difference there is. This setting will have to be changed after the camera is installed to the customer’s image quality satisfaction. The higher the more range in light difference.

WDR Mode can also be set to “Automatic” this option can be used for when the cameras image has a
lot more of the image outdoor then indoors. This will be the best way for the camera to automatically
adjust for the sun or cloudy weather each day.

Updating Firmware Via Cloud

Uniview offers firmware updating via the cloud server. Cloud updating can provide the newest features and better functionality to on site devices, without ever having to worry about getting the correct firmware file or having to call technical support.

In this guide, we will be going over the multiple different ways of upgrading the firmware for your device.

Method 1. Updating From The NVR

1. Log into the Main Menu of the recorder.
2. Navigate to Camera > Camera > Advanced
3. Click on the By Cloud button for each camera that needs to be upgraded. Each camera can also be selected by clicking on its check box and then clicking the By Cloud icon to the right.
   

Method 2. Updating From The NVR Web Interface

1.  Load the recorders IP address in Internet Explorer. Login to the recorder once the login page is
   loaded.
2. Navigate to the Settings menu and then to Camera in the left hand menu and then to IP Camera in the sub menu.
3. Navigate to the Advanced settings tab
4. In the list of cameras find the cameras that need to be upgraded and click the Upgrade By Cloud Button

   

5. The cameras status list will then display downloading followed by uploading % and then finished off with upgrading. After it is done upgrading the camera will reboot.

1. Find the local IP address of the camera and navigate to the IP address in Internet Explorer
2. Login to the camera and navigate to Setup > Maintenance > Maintenance
3. Locate the Cloud Upgrade Detect button and click it
   
4. The camera will feed back A New Version Detected for Upgrade
5. Then click the Cloud Upgrade button again

   

6. The camera web interface will then show a camera is updating overlay.
   

Method 4. Updating From EZTools

1. Open the EZTools Program
   • You can Download That here
2. Select the Upgrade Tab on the Left side
3. Click on the Online Upgrade Tab
4. Checkmark the Device you would like to upgrade
5. Click on the Upgrade button on the bottom right corner
   
6. Once online upgrade is clicked the EZTools will search automatically for newer firmware for the
   selected devices. The EZTools will then give you a popup showing the current device firmware
   and the newest available device firmware. Check off each device that you want to upgrade on
   the left hand side and click the OK button at the bottom.
   
7. The status of the device in the main list of devices will then read updating
   
8. After the update is done the device status will say Upgrade Succeeded, the device will then
   restart and be up to date
   

Method 5. Updating From EZView App

1. Open the EZView app and navigate to the main menu in the upper left hand corner of the app.
2. Select the Devices tab. The device that has a red circle next to it shows that an update is available for the recorder or the cameras.
   
3. Assuming that the device has already been added to the app (if not add the device) click on the
   device and select the P2P Upgrade button.
   
4. In the next menu select all of the devices that have the red circles next to them indicating that
   they need to be firmware updated
5. Click on the Start Upgrade button at the bottom of the screen. The update will take about 5-10 min depending on how many devices and internet speed.
6. After giving the recorder enough time check back to the app to see if all of the red circles are gone. If they are this will let you know that all selected devices upgraded correctly.

Note: The NVR can be accessed via phone app (EZView) or by Internet Explorer (http://en.ezcloud.uniview.com). Each user will need to register an account by providing an email address. The first person to scan the code will be the primary account holder, who will then share it with additional accounts as wanted/requested.

On the initial Upgrade page, you will be able to locally upgrade the firmware if the file is on hand with a USB drive. If those resources are unavailable, please click the Upgrade by Cloud tab.

On the Upgrade by Cloud page, you will be able to check and see if there are any updates that are available through the internet. After checking and confirming that there is an update, select the Upgrade button after it becomes available. Please note that the cloud function will only work if the NVR is connected to the internet.

After setting up a schedule, you may press the down arrow to the right of the “Copy to” checkbox and select all the cameras that will have the same schedule.

You may individually select channels to manually set each one specifically as well.

On the Intrusion Detection Page, select the camera that intrusion detection should be enabled on. Make sure that Intrusion Detection is set for On. Draw the intrusion perimeter and configure the detection area as needed. The primary information needed will be the sensitivity and percentage. Percentage will be the amount of the drawn area that must be filled in order to trigger the intrusion. Select Arming schedule and Trigger actions to indicate when the line cross schedule is active, as well as the commands that it will trigger (record on separate channels, audible alarms, alarm out, email notifications, etc.)

Immediately after clicking Maintenance, it will direct you to the Log page where you can query the logs for the system. You can select the start/end time of the log search, as well as the log types.

Please note: A Uniview NVR with Uniview cameras plugged into the internal POE of the recorder will essentially be plug and play. By default, cameras have DHCP enabled, however, when plugged into the back the NVR, it will receive a static IP address.

***It is important that all cameras are plugged in the same timeframe and that all cameras are connected prior to disconnecting any of the currently installed cameras. Failure to do so may result in an IP address conflict and will need further troubleshooting to resolve the issue.***

Make sure that the channels are grayed out. By default, the plug and play address is 172.16.0.X Each Uniview camera will receive an IP address within this range if it is brand new, out of the box, or set to factory default.

***Please Note: For Gmail accounts, you will need to allow less secure apps to sign on to your account. This setting can be found in the account settings under security for the Google account***

How To View A Uniview NVR Remote Access Via EZView App

This guide will show how to view a Uniview NVR on the mobile app EZView.
You will need a network connection for this setup.

Step 1. Connect The NVR To Your Network

First, you will need to connect the NVR to your network. Taking a cat5e/cat6 cable from the LAN port on the NVR, then the other end will go to your router or network switch.

Step 2. Log Into The NVR and Enable EZCloud

We will be going through this process via the web interface on internet explorer from a local PC.
From the Live View of the NVR, Go to Setup -> Network -> EZCloud
Make sure It is set to ON and “Add without Signup” is ON, unless if you would like to have added security, switch it to OFF.

Step 3. Download The EZView App

Step 4. Add the NVR

First, open the app, then click the 3 Horizontal Line icon in the top left corner

Click on Devices

Select Add

Choose Scan

Then Scan the QR Code from the web interface of the NVR

Enter a Nickname for your NVR and click Start Live View

Then you will see a Device list With your NVR, Click on it for a Pop up to appear, and select “Start Live View”
      

Then You will have a Live View of any cameras connected to the NVR!

EZCloud Displaying Offline

When setting up Remote Viewing, You may get a Success Message after scanning the QR code. However, the NVR can show as Offline on the EZView App afterwards.

On the NVR web Interface, you may get this Message:

**Network disconnected. Please check network settings such as DNS server address and port mapping. **

Here are a few tips to fix this issue:

– Make sure that the recorder is networked locally correctly.
– Wired Directly from the LAN port of the NVR to your router or network switch.

– Place the recorder on DHCP

– After Enabling DHCP, click on Save.

Once all of these steps have been taken, the Status should come Online:

How To View Remotely Through Cloud Via EZStation

EZStation is a CMS for Uniview products to allow the user to allow  viewing and configuring.

Step 1. Install and Run EZStation

Download the EZStation Program here

Upon initial bootup, you may get prompted to create a login. This is for the EZStation Program exclusively. Typically we’ll recommend setting the same login as your NVR.

Once Running, You should get a Main Screen:

Step 2. Log Into Your Cloud Account

First, Go into the Device Management section.

Next, Select Cloud Device on the left side, then Login.

A popup box will appear to input your cloud login info. Once entered, Click Login

A Load screen will appear, then you should be logged in.
Now your linked devices will be listed under My Cloud Device

Step 3. Viewing Your Device

Now that we are logged in, we should be able to view whatever devices are on the linked account

First, go back to the Control Panel Tab, Then select the Live View Section

From here, Double click on your device on the left side and any cameras linked will appear

How To Share Your Device Via EZCloud Portal

Each Uniview device is limited to only be registered one single EZcloud account at one time.

Due to this limitation, sharing the device is needed to be accomplished to allow other wanted registered users to access your Uniview device.

To do so login to your EZCloud account via the web (Click Here) and select the “Share” option under the My Cloud Devices -> Operation section.

Once you select share it will prompt you to a new page where you will need to fill in the below three pictured fields. Once all fields are filled in select Confirm.

How To Share Your Device Via EZView Mobile App

Navigation: Setup > VCA > Face Detection

• Select Camera: Select which camera to configure.

The Intrusion Detection feature creates an EVENT when an object that meets the minimum size relative to the region (based on percentage) enters any of the specified regions and stays inside the region past the minimum time threshold.

Cross Line Detection

• Draw Area: Tool used in creating lines in the footage that will be monitored by this feature.
• Trigger Direction: Determines the direction of the objects that cross the line to be counted.

• Trigger Actions: Designates the actions the device will make once this event has been triggered.

The Cross Line Detection feature creates an EVENT when an object crossed a specified line. This feature has 3 modes. A<->B which creates an event whenever an object crosses the line. A->B which only triggers when an object moves from side A to side B. B->A which only triggers when an object moves from side B.

Audio Detection

Navigation: Setup > VCA > Audio Detection

• Select Camera: Select which camera to configure.
• Audio Detection: Has 4 options. Sudden Change, Sudden Rise, Sudden Fall, and Threshold.
  • Sudden Change: Detect for sudden loudness variations in incoming audio.
  • Sudden Rise: Detect for sudden loudness increase in incoming audio.
  • Sudden Fall: Detect for sudden loudness decrease in incoming audio.
  • Threshold: Detect for the loudness of incoming audio.
• Difference/Threshold: Determines the sensitivity of the feature.
• Arming Schedule: Designates the time and conditions where the feature would be active.
• Trigger Actions: Designates the actions the device will make once this event has been triggered.

The audio detection feature creates an Event when the minimum difference or threshold in loudness is detected by the camera with audio input capabilities.

People Counting

Navigation: Setup > VCA > People Counting

• Select Camera: Select which camera to configure.
• People Counting: Toggles the feature on or off.
• Shoulder Demarcation: If enabled, adds resizable short parallel lines to the main people-counting line. Any passing person that is smaller than the demarcation will not be included in the count.
• Sensitivity: Determines the sensitivity of the feature.
• Direction: Determines which direction of people will the devices count.
• Clear By Schedule: If enabled, clears the count found on the OSD at the time set on the next option. This does not affect the Statistics, only the OSD.
• Clear At: Determines the time when the Clear By Schedule purges the OSD counting record. This does not affect the Statistics, only the OSD.
• Draw Area: Tool used in creating regions in the footage that will be monitored by this feature.
• Clear Counting Result: Activating this option will clear the OSD counting record immediately.
• Statistics: Allows viewing and generating tables and charts containing the counting records.

The people counting feature is used to monitor the number of people entering or leaving an area.

Defocus Detection

Navigation: Setup > VCA > Defocus Detection

• Select Camera: Select which camera to configure.
• Defocus Detection: Toggles the feature on or off.
• Sensitivity: Determines the sensitivity of the feature.

The defocus detection feature creates an event once the camera loses its focus.

Scene Change Detection

• Select Camera: Select which camera to configure.
• Scene Change Detection: Toggles the feature on or off.
• Sensitivity: Determines the sensitivity of the feature.
• Arming Schedule: Designates the time and conditions where the feature would be active.
• Trigger Actions: Designates the actions the device will make once this event has been triggered.

The scene change detection feature creates an EVENT once an intentional rotation is detected on the camera.

Auto Tracking
