DAHUA XVR 4.0 Setup Description

This article will go over the Initialization process of the units with the New GUI.

1. When you first turn on the recorder you will be greeted with the region settings. Click on the drop down menu and select “United States” and click Next.

2. Select the proper time zone setting for your region.

3. You will now be prompted to input a password for the admin account.

4. For easier login you can create a pattern, you will need to enter it twice to confirm.

5. Enter your email in order to reset the admin password in case the password was forgotten, you may also setup security questions.

Note: This is the only method to reset the password for XVRs and NVRs. If you skip this step and forget your device’s password, you will need to replace the unit

6. The Auto-check for firmware is not yet implemented in the U.S. so you can just click on next.

7. Make sure the video standard format is set to NTSC and click on “Next”.

8. Here you can go in depth with the time settings. You may want to set up the DST (Daylight savings) so that it takes affect when the time comes.

9. The recorder will be set as a static default IP address you see on the screen. Input an open local IP address and gateway from you network. If you don’t know this information you can select DHCP (highlighted in the red box) in order to automatically receive an IP address from the router.

10. If you have the recorder properly connected to the router the P2P status will indicate “Online” and you can now remote in to the unit with our mobile app/PC app.

11. You can select the Encode settings for each camera by selecting the drop down menu on “Channel”.

12. Select the resolution and image quality for snapshots.

13. Select what you want to to when the hard drive fills up.

14. Here is you recording schedule, the green will indicate 24/7 recording and Yellow will be Motion recording.

15. Here is you Snapshot schedule, same color legend as recording,

16. Once all that is setup you will be greeted with the final Prompt! You are now finished Initializing you new recorder

New GUI- Add a Dahua Device

This article will show you three different methods to add a dahua device to our New GUI recorders. We will be adding a dahua camera with all three methods.

Method 1:

This first method is extremely simple if all the cameras are still set to default credentials and settings. We will do a device search on the network and add them with a click of a button

Method Two:

The second method is used if there’s an existing camera and it’s password was changed. You will use device search to locate the camera and then go to manual add to change the password it’s being added with

Method Three:

This last method is used when Device Search fails and cannot locate the camera on the network. You will need to type in the camera’s information manually.

New GUI – Schedule Record Setup

Description

Dahua NVRs and DVRs offer a variety of recording options. You can configure recording schedules based on the following methods:

These schedules can be set individually for each camera or copied to all cameras.

1. From the Main Menu select “Management”.

2. Select the “Storage” option from the drop-down menu.

3. From the left hand side, select “Schedule”.

4. Select the channel drop-down menu to choose the channel that you want to adjust the recording schedule for.

5. Select “Setting” next to any day of the week.

6. You will have options to set a schedule for General Recording, MD (Motion Detection), Alarm, MD & Alarm, Intel, and POS (Point of Sale). For this tutorial we are using General Recording.

7. Here you can see that you are able to set multiple periods. For this tutorial we will only be setting one period. Check the “General” box, then select the day or days you want to scheduled recordings for, and then select “Save”.

8. Depending on the days selected from the previous step, you will see green colored bars which represents general recording.

9. You can select “Copy” to mirror the same schedule to another channel/camera. Select “Save” in the Copy menu.

10. Select “Save” at the bottom to save all settings. If your changes were successfully saved, a pop-up will appear at the top notifying you as such.

New GUI – Motion Detection Recording Setup

1. On the main menu select Alarm

2. Select Video Detection on the left.
Then select the Motion Detection tab at the top.
Choose the channel from the drop-down next to Channel.
Check the box next to Enable.
Check the box next to Record Channel.
Click on Setting next to Region

3. Highlight the areas in red where you want to track motion.
Then click OK at the bottom

4. Select More at the bottom
Check the boxes next to any of the other options you want to activate when motion is detected.
Click on OK

5. Click on Apply at the bottom.
You will see “Operation Succeeded” at the top when your changes have been saved

6. Click on the Setting drop-down at the top and select Storage

7. Select Schedule on the left.
Then select the Record tab at the top.
Choose the channel from the drop-down next to Channel.
Click on the Setting button next to any day of the week.

8. Check the All box to enable all days of the week.
Check the Motion box for “Period 1”.
Click OK at the bottom.

9. Click on Apply at the bottom to save the settings

10. Select Record Mode on the left.
Then make sure Auto is enabled for the appropriate channel(s).
Click on Apply at the bottom.

11. Click on the Main Menu icon at the top right.
Then select Search

12. Check box next to the channel on the right.
You should see yellow lines/bars for motion recording

Alarm Record Setup

This article is to show you how to setup alarm recording thru new Web GUI.

Note: please refer to product spec sheet for alarm input/output availability. Not all Dahua Recorder support alarm input/output.

Setup Alarm Input

From main menu, click on Alarm. Click on Alarm input. We are using XVR 72 series for this example. The Alarm Input page will launch as shown below:

Select the Alarm input number that you like to use. This number is correspond to the alarm port on the back of recorder.

1. Click Enable to enable the alarm input.

2. Enter Alarm Name. By default is set to AlarmIn#

3. Period is to schedule your Alarm when you want to be enable.

4. With the alarm input, you can trigger recorder’s alarm output.

5. This to select which channel you want recorder to start recording when alarm is triggered.

6. You can call basic PTZ action Preset, Tour, or Pattern when alarm is triggered.

Setup Alarm Recording Schedule

1. From the main menu, click on Management > Storage > Schedule.

2. Select the channel you like to setup.

3. To enable Alarm recording, Click on Setting next to the timeline bar.

4. Set your duration (By default is 24 hour, 00-24). Then select Alarm.

You can select all days to copy the schedule to all week. Click Save.

5. Click Save.

New GUI/Instructions/IVS Record

This article will cover how to configure IVS Recording on a Dahua recorder with the New GUI

1. From the Main Menu select AI

2. Select Parameters on the left.
Then select Smart Plan below it.
Choose the channel of the camera you are configuring from the Channel drop-down.
Select the IVS “Lightbulb” icon so that it highlights blue.
Then click Apply at the bottom

3. Select IVS on the left.
Choose the channel of the camera from the Channel drop-down.
Then click the + button.
Double-click on the rule type under the Type column to choose the type of IVS rule you want to use.
Adjust all the settings in the Parameters section.
Make sure that the box is checked next to Record Channel and the channel that camera is on is highlighted next to it

4. Draw the rule in the live view on the left by left clicking on it.
Continue to left click to add more segments.
When you are done, right click to finish drawing the rule.
Then click Apply at the bottom

5. Select Setting at the top left.
Then select Storage from the drop-down

6. Select Schedule on the left.
Then select the Record tab at the top.
Choose the channel of the camera from the Channel drop-down.
Then click on Setting to the right of any day of the week

7. Check the box next to All to select all days of the week.
Check the box for Intelligent to the right of Period 1.
(Feel free to adjust the days of the week and the time period for when you want to record IVS events).
Then click on OK

8. You will see blue bars on the schedule representing when IVS events will be recorded, when they are triggered.
Click Apply at the bottom

9. Click on the Menu icon at the top right to go back to the Main Menu.
Then click on Search

10. Check the box next to the camera channel on the right.
Once IVS events have occured they will appear as blue bars on the timeline at the bottom.
Click on the timeline on one of the blue bars to start playing that IVS event

New GUI – Audio Record Setup

Enable audio source

1. 1. Login using a web browser.

2. Click on Setting > Camera.

3. Click on Encode. And then select the camera channel that support audio.

5. Click on the checkmark to enable Audio.

6. Select the Audio source for your HD-CVI camera. If your HD-CVI camera has built-in Microphone, select HDCVI as the audio source. Local option is if you are connecting external microphone to the recorder.

7. Click OK, and then click OK again on the bottom right hand corner.

New GUI – Playback

Description

This article will cover how to play back recorded video on an NVR or DVR with the New GUI

1. From the Main Menu select “Video”

2. The Playback menu should open up and look like this:

3. On the right hand side, there will be a calendar. Select the day that you wish to play back video.
Below the calendar is a list of all the cameras/channels. Check the box next to all the cammeras/channels you would like to play back video from.

4. The video footage willl appear on the timeline at the bottom of the screen. It will be color coded to match the types of video that were recorded.
(See the Legend at the bottom of the screen.)

5. Check or uncheck each type of recording that you want to view. Check the Sync box if you would like to sync playback up on all channels you are viewing.

6. Double click on the graph at the bottom to begin playing back video.

3. You must plug in an external drive to save your downloaded file. Select the path where you want to save the file at. From this pop-up screen, you have an option to create new folder. After you select, click OK.

4. Select the Record Channel you like to search. You can only search 1 channel at a time.

5. Select the Recording Type you like to search.

6. Set the start and end time for searching. Then click Search. All recorded files that meets your search criteria will shown on the list.

7. Select the files, and click Backup.

8. Downloading process start.

9. Once finished, the folder information will pop up, then click OK.

New GUI – P2P Setup

2. You can either set the device on a static ip or turn DHCP on to automatically grab an IP from the network. Save any changes

1. Connect NVR to network with a CAT5 cable.

2. Download and install ConfigTool from DahuaSecurity.com, under Support->Download Center->Software

3. Run the ConfigTool.

4. The ConfigTool should display your IP Camera. Click the, “” icon to open Internet Explorer and access your NVR.

5. Configure Internet Explorer security settings to allow the plugs to work. Link to Internet Explorer Setup

6. Login with the default credentials: User Name: admin Passsword: admin

7. Under, Main Menu -> Setup -> TCP/IP Change the IP Camera to, “Static” if the camera is currently set to, “DHCP”

8. Open another tab and enter the, “Gateway” address listed under your NVR’s Network settings. Example: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, 10.0.10.1

9. Login to your gateway and locate the, “Port Forwarding” section.

10. Create port forwarding rules for each port you wish to forward for the NVR. (Usually you will only need to forward the HTTP and the TCP port.) Default Ports: TCP: 37777 UDP: 37778 HTTP: 80 RTSP: 554 HTTPS: 443

11. The end result should look like the below image. We used a Cisco router for this example.

12. Hit, “Save” in the gateway interface, and open another tab.

13. Go to, “www.canyouseeme.org” and check that the ports you opened on the gateway.

How to Access System Using P2P via Mobile Application

Description

View your recorder and cameras on the go. With Dahua’s mobile application IDMSS(IOS)/GDMSS(Android) allows you to add Dahua recorders and cameras to the mobile app using P2P.

How to reset my DVR’s password?

If you forgot your recorder’s password, there are two ways to reset it.  

1 – If your recorder has a reset button, press and hold it for 10 seconds; you will hear an audible confirmation. This will reset all settings, including the password, but will not erase recorded footage on your hard drive. 

2 – If your recorder doesn’t have a reset button, contact us using an online form to receive a reset password: 

     a) The current date on the DVR’s interface. 

     b) The MAC address of the DVR, which you can find under the System Information tab. Click the (i) information icon at the bottom right of your DVR interface. You don’t need the recorder to be unlocked for this. You can also get the MAC on the Camius View app and the Camius Device Config Tool.

Is my DVR / NVR recording? How to set up security camera recording?

This guide applies to Camius DVR (digital video) and NVR (network video) recorders. To confirm if your Camius DVR or NVR is recording, check the recorder’s front panel HDD LED. The red blinking light indicates the DVR or NVR is recording.

Recording Schedule

Then navigate to Setup >> Record >> Record Schedule to check each camera’s schedule.

By default Normal schedule is enabled, which stands for 24/7 continuous recording.

For the rest of the schedules, you need to select and save the recording type you need (Green is for Normal, Yellow is for Motion, Purple is for PIR (applicable to Camius 4K spotlight cameras with PIR sensor), I/O is for recording triggered by external alarm devices connected to the DVR or NVR).

Trivault DVR has all 4 record schedules activated.

Set the Record Schedule, apply, and copy to other channels if needed. Once it’s done, you will have access to the recording of the event not only on your NVR but you can also play them on your CAMIUS VIEW smartphone app.

Suppose you enable push notifications triggered by Motion, PIR, or AI (Human & Vehicle Detection) but do not have a short clip for playback. In that case, the record schedule was not set for this camera.

Optimizing storage and extending recording period

Camius 2K and 4K cameras can be set by the Camius NVR to record at 4K, 2K, 1080P, or 720P.

You can reduce hard disk usage by reducing the bitrate for low-foot-traffic cameras from 4096 Mbps to 2048 Mbps, which can double the total recording period. Recording settings are available under the Mainstream

How to check the HDD status and format it

How to set the Date and Time on your Security DVR or NVR Recorder

If you set Date and Time on your new DVR or NVR, go through Startup Wizard >> Date and Time.

Synchronizing your recorder’s internal clock with your local Date & Time is essential; here are the steps:

1- Set your local time zone relative to GMT, for example, with Daylight Saving On:

2- Set the date, time, and formats manually.

3- We recommend enabling NTP (Network Time Protocol), which synchronizes date & time over the Internet. Click the checkbox, choose one of the servers, and click Update Now.

4- Enable DST for Daylight Saving Time. Once done, click Next.

To change Date and Time in the NVR’s menu, navigate to System >> General >> Date and Time. 

Once you set the correct time on your NVR, click Apply to save settings

How to back up recorded CCTV footage on the NVR or DVR?

The Search function provides you with the ability to search and play previously recorded audio-video footage and snapshots that are stored on your Camius DVR or NVR recorder’s hard drive. You can play videos that match your recording schedule, manual recordings, or events only. Additionally, the Backup function allows you to save important events, including both audio-video recordings and snapshots, to a USB thumb drive.

Backing up CCTV footage requires a USB thunb (flash) drive. On the playback search page, click on the events tab, select the date, type, and channels, and then click the Search button.

1 – To save a video clip backup, insert your USB thumb drive into the Camius DVR or NVR’s USB port and start playing the recorded video. USB ports are on the front and rear panels of the DVR and NVR recorders.

3 – Check the Channel(s) you want to backup and move the mouse cursor to the timeline where you want to start the clip.

4 – Press and hold the left mouse button and drag the cursor to the timeline where you want to end the clip.

5 – Select one or multiple event thumbnails, click the Backup button at the bottom, choose .MP4 (recommended), then click Save

Make sure your USB thumb drive has enough space to save the video clips.

6 – Select a folder on the thumb drive, and click OK. The progress bar at the bottom of the window shows you the progress of the backup.

Connect Monitor, Power Supply, USB Mouse

After you unpack your new DVR, locate the power supply and USB mouse that is included. Connect the mouse to the USB port on the front or back of the DVR. The USB mouse is the easiest way to navigate the user interface of the DVR. You can also use the IR remote control if you prefer. Please note that a wireless remote is not included with iDVR-PROA models.

Next, connect a monitor to your DVR. Even if you do not plan on keeping a monitor connected to your DVR because you will manage your DVR over your network, the initial setup still requires a monitor to be connected.

Supported Monitors

Please note that all iDVR-PROs models have an HDMI and VGA monitor ports. YOU MUST use a widescreen format HD monitor that supports one of the following video resolutions.

1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) is recommended for the best experience.

Connect the power supply included with your DVR to the power input on the back of the DVR, then to a power source (wall outlet). The DVR will boot up.

Test Cameras Before Installing

If you are using any new cameras with your iDVR, we highly recommend bench testing them before you mount them. What does bench testing mean? It simply means that you connect each camera to a power supply and monitor before you mount them. This can be accomplished by connecting each camera to your DVR and viewing them on the monitor that you connected to your DVR.

Testing your cameras before installation has the following benefits.

 Confirm all cameras are working properly before mounting them.

 Opportunity to also test all of your cables if you are using premade CCTV cables.

 Configure video inputs on DVR for CCTV. AHD, or HD-TVI type cameras (details below).

 If any of your cameras use an OSD or varifocal lens, it gives you the opportunity to get familiar with these operations, which is much easier to do on the ground rather than up on a ladder.

Surveillance DVR Dual Monitor / Spot Monitor Live Display Setup

for iDVR-PRO HD / CCTV Camera DVRs

This article will go over how to set up the dual monitor / spot monitor feature for iDVR-PRO HD surveillance DVRs. All iDVR-PROs have high definition HDMI and VGA outputs. iDVR-PRO A models only support dual monitor mode. The iDVR-PRO H series DVRs support dual monitor and spot monitor modes. In spot monitor mode, can use the HDMI output as the main monitor and VGA as a spot monitor or vice versa. This is a good solution for users that need to see a continuous live view their security cameras on one monitor and use the other monitor for DVR management such as general viewing, playback, settings, etc. You can watch a demo video here.

Dual Monitor

In dual monitor mode, both the HDMI and VGA outputs the main display (mirror mode). Dual monitor mode is supported by A and H model iDVR-PROs.

Spot Monitor

iDVR-PRO8H and iDVR-PRO16H models support spot monitor mode, in addition to dual monitor. This allows one monitor to display a customizable continuous live video feed, while the other monitor displays the main monitor for DVR operations such as configuration and recorded video playback.

HD Spot Monitor Setup

Follow these instructions to select between dual monitor and spot monitor modes.

1. By default, the iDVR-PROM and H series DVRs are to set to output duplicate displays on both the VGA and HDMI outputs.

To set up one of the displays as a spot monitor, select Menu > System Setup > Display > Dual Monitor.

Next, change the Display Mode from Duplicate These Displays to Main Monitor + Spot.

Once we have it set to Main Monitor + Spot, to the Display Type and set which monitor you would like to run as the Main Monitor and select which you would like to use as the Spot.

NOTE: We recommend keeping the Display Resolution set to Auto. This way it picks up the best resolution for your monitor’s spec.

2. Next, you can setup custom display screens and camera ordering for the Spot Monitor display. Click the Edit button next to Spot. You can now select the Add View Type button to select the cameras you would like to display on the Spot monitor. You may configure up to 16 displays that consist of single, quad, 9 channel, and 16 camera screen views.

Once you have the cameras / views setup, you can select the Apply button. That is it, you have successfully setup the iDVR-PRO DVR to run Dual Monitors.

Legacy Model Spot Monitor Support

Our legacy, non HD iDVR-PRO models (analog CCTV only), use an analog BNC output for the spot monitor. You can refer to this article for analog spot Monitor Output Setup information.

Surveillance Video Recording Setup for iDVR-PRO HD H.264 CCTV DVRs

Follow these instructions to set up the surveillance video recording type for iDVR-PRO HD security camera / H.264 DVRs from CCTV Camera Pros.

Recording Modes

iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs support the following recording modes.

Setup Instructions

To configure the recording mode that you want to use, hover the mouse cursor over the lower part of the screen. The DVR main menu will appear. Click Menu > Record Setup.

The following screen will be displayed which shows all of the recording modes that the DVR supports.

If you want to set up a recording schedule for continuous, motion, or alarm based recording, you must click the drop-down box on the above screen and change the mode from autoconfiguration to manual configuration. Autoconfiguration sets all cameras to record at the max resolution and frame rate for continuous, motion, and alarm type of recording.

If you select manual configuration, you can set different choose a different frame rate, resolution, and video quality / compression for each camera (even for different time frames). Using the mouse, select the recording type that you want to set up.

Continuous Recording

If you select manual configuration then continuous recording, the following screen is displayed which lets you setup unique configurations for each camera and you can also click on the schedule tab to set a schedule for when each camera will record continuously (effectively making this scheduled recording mode).

Motion Detection Recording

If you select manual configuration, then motion recording, the following screen is displayed. One this screen users can choose the resolution, frame rate, quality, and whether audio recording is on or off (surveillance microphone required) for each camera when motion is detected.

Users may configure each camera for motion detection recording by selecting the motion sensor option under the camera menu. Users can turn motion detection on / off, enable an icon to be displayed on the screen when motion is detected (Mark field), and sensitivity level for each camera. Users can also define specific zones within each camera view for motion detection by selecting the edit area button.

The below screenshot shows how to mark the door in this room as the only area that motion detection will be applied to.

Alarm Recording

If you select manual configuration, then alarm recording, the following screen is displayed. One this screen users can choose the resolution, frame rate, quality, and whether audio recording is on or off (surveillance microphone required) for each camera when an external alarm (such as door sensor, PIR motion sensor, etc) is triggered.

Intensive Motion Detection Recording

If you select intensive motion recording, then you may configure different recording resolutions, frame rates, and video quality for when each camera is recording continuously and while motion is detected. The idea behind this recording mode is to conserve space when there is no motion (but still record) and record at a higher resolution, higher frame rate, and quality when there is motion detected.

Panic Recording

The panic recording settings control the video resolution, frame rate (FPS), video quality and whether audio surveillance is on or off when panic recording is triggered on the DVR. Panic recording is enabled when a user presses the panic button on the front of the DVR or from the user interface menu using a mouse. When panics recording is enabled, this overrides any current recording mode (schedule, motion, alarm, etc. and sets all cameras to continuous recording).

Avoid Security Camera Motion Detection False Alarms

How-to adjust motion detection sensitivity & mask areas on iDVR-PRO CCTV surveillance DVRs

Anyone who uses video motion detection with a security camera system knows that it can be tricky to get the motion settings just right in order to avoid false alarms. It is especially tricky with outdoor security cameras because of all the things in nature that create motion. CCTV DVRs typically have sensitivity and motion mask areas to help. This article will guide iDVR-PRO surveillance DVR users of how-to setup the sensitivity settings and motion detection mask areas so that video motion detection can work as effectively as possible with little or no false alarms. Once the account info has been configured go to Dynamic DNS > NOIP Hostnames and create a Hostname

When creating a hostname, you would put in the hostname spot a name or address that is easy to remember. For example, if the hostname is myhost211 and the domain is set to ddns.net when it is created it will look like “myhost211.ddns.net”

Once your DDNS is created, you can go into your system’s Main Menu > Network > DDNS page and select NOIP for the DDNS type. Then you would type in your login information to the username and password area of the system and type in the full domain name.

i.e., Username: (NOIP Username) Password: (NOIP Password) Domain: “YourNOIPDomain.quickddns.com”

If setup correctly NOIP will Dynamically update the IP as needed on its own. NOIP is a subscription service so if you do not have a subscription you will need to manually re-apply for your DDNS once every month.

To enable this on older DVR’s pre 2015 you may need to go to Settings > Network > Advance Settings > DDNS and Double click on the setting then Enable it.

With the DDNS configured on the system you will need to then port forward your router with either the TCP or HTTP ports for your system.

The Default ports that need to be opened for the Blue / Black line systems are TCP 80 for Web and TCP 37777 for the Apps.

Date & Time Setup

In order to change the Date and Time you will need to go to Main Menu->System

Inside of System Settings navigate to the General Tab on the Left and Date & Time. Enter in your System Time. You may change the Format of the system time from a 24 Hour clock to a 12 Hour clock if you prefer. You may enter the Daylight Saving Time settings under “DST”.

Be sure to Save your System Zone and click Apply at the bottom when you are done.

Remote Viewing on Mobile Devices

To access your recorder remotely you must first connect it to your modem or router using an Ethernet cable and power on the recorder.

Go to Main Menu->Setting->Network–TCP/IP and Enable “DHCP” Inside of the Network settings and Save.

*Some models require you to click “Edit or Modify” next to NIC1 to find the DHCP option to enable.

Make sure DHCP is enabled. Click OK at the bottom.

Be sure to Save / Apply these settings before moving on.

Navigate to the Main Menu-> Setting -> Network -> P2P (sometimes called Easy4IP) Enable P2P at the top of the menu and select Apply

Your P2P status will show “Online” now. If P2P shows “Online” you can proceed to the next steps in this guide.

If you are still getting an “Offline” status

You may want to leave this menu up since we will be using the Device SN QR code in the next few steps.

Downloading SCS Pro on your Mobile Device

You must use our mobile application SCS Pro on your iOS or Android device. This can be found in the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store. Search for SCS Pro and download our free application.

Launch SCS Pro once it has been downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. Select your Region / Language. Once you are on the Home section of SCS Pro. Click on the + Icon at the top right corner. Select SN/Scan. Scan the Device SN QR code found on the right hand side of your P2P menu on your DVR or NVR. This screen may still be up on your system if you are following this guide. Once the code has been scanned you will see the Device SN appear on your device. Click Next.

How to Setup Motion Detection Regions

The following guide will show you how to adjust the Motion Detection Region settings on your system

Navigate to Main Menu->Alarm

Select Video Detection on the left Column. Then you will select Setting next to Region

on the right hand side

Once you select Setting you will see the camera come up in full screen with Red blocks. At the top of the screen you can adjust the Sensitivity and Threshold of the Motion Detection.

This should be adjusted if you feel the Motion is not recording accurately.

Sensitivity is how sensitive the motion detection will be. The lower the number the less recording you will get. Recommended range is 40-80.

Threshold is how much motion needs to occur in order to trigger the recording. Adjust this only if you plan on recording larger objects (Cars/trucks) only and would like to filter out smaller objects (People/Animals)

.

The areas in Red is where the camera will detect motion. This means the recording will only start when motion occurs in the Red areas. If motion occurs in an area that is not Red, the system will not record that event. You can click and drag with your mouse to make the adjustments.

Once you have created the areas that you would like recorded when motion occurs,

Right Click with your mouse and then select Apply to save the settings.

Motion Detection Setup

Your DVR/NVR is setup to record 24/7 right out of the box. There is no need to follow this guide if you would like to continue recording 24/7. If you would like to conserve some of your Hard Drive space please follow the guide below.

Port Forwarding Guide

.

Step 1) Make sure you have an Ethernet cable connecting your DVR and your router. Step 2) Enable DHCP mode on your DVR in the Network tab and reboot the system. Step 3) Go back to the Network screen and make note of the IP address.

Step 4) Enter the IP address of the DVR in to your web browser to verify it’s connected with Web Service.

Step 5) Log in to your router and find the Port Forwarding section, if you are unfamiliar with configuring your router, contact an IT professional.

Step 6) Forward ports 80/37777 using TCP protocol to the IP address of your DVR (Info and services for port forwarding can be found at www.portforward.com)

Step 7) Use www.canyouseeme.org to test the ports are open, you should see ‘Success’.

Step 8) Your public IP address may change so we recommend utilizing a Dynamic DNS service like Quick DDNS or NO-IP.

PLEASE NOTE: We recommend using Peer-To-Peer (P2P) instead of a port forwarded connection for security and reliability reasons. P2P is available on most CCTVSecurityPros models as of 1/1/16.

Sharing Remote Access / Configuring User Permissions

2. Viewing the device remotely isn’t needed.

2. On the Device Management page the top section on the right labeled “Managed Device” will show devices that have been added to EZstation.  The bottom section on the right labeled “Online Device” will show all devices that are detected on your local network.

1. Select the device from the list on the bottom.

How to record audio on a Uniview NVR

Record audio on a Uniview NVR by following each step below

NOTE

-This audio setting has only been added on select models with newer (2022+) firmware installed. -This guide assumes you have already enabled audio on the IP cameras with a microphone.

1.  After logging into the web interface of the NVR go to Setup->Camera->Schedule.

2. Select the camera you want to enable audio recording on by clicking the drop down.

4. Change the Audio Storage option to On.

Adding users to your UNV NVR allows you to customize exactly what people are able to see when operating your device, which can help protect your settings and the security of your device.

This tutorial assumes you have already completed the basic set up for your UNV NVR

Accessing and Configuring a New User

1. Sign into your UNV NVR. To do this, start at the Live View screen of your NVR.
2. Right Click Anywhere on Live View > Main Menu > Draw Pattern or Enter Password
3. You will be taken to the main menu. Click on “System” and then navigate to the “User” menu. At the bottom of the screen, you will see a button labeled “Add”. Click there.

You will see a pop up menu with everything you need to configure your new user. From top to bottom:

1. Username: This is the username for the user you are creating. It can be whatever you’d like.
2. User Type: This controls the general configuration for the user you are creating. You will notice that you cannot have more than one admin account.
   1. Operator: This is a user type that has permission to use the NVR configuration menu. Use this account type if you want your user to be able to change and configure your NVR through it’s main menu. Please Note: You can customize exactly what permissions this user gets, but by default, the Operator type is used for tech support and configuration.
   2. Guest: This is a user type that has permission to ONLY view Live View and Playback on your NVR. You can customize exactly what cameras they can view. This is the recommended user for anyone that is only allowed to Live View and Playback your cameras.
3. Password: This is the password that the new user will use to sign into the NVR. It must be considered a “STRONG” password. Once you have decided upon a strong password, you must retype it in the Confirm Password section.
4. Pattern: As with the admin account, your user account can have it’s own distinct lock pattern. This is where you can draw that pattern. Please note that the pattern MUST be distinct from other users, or there will be a conflict.
5. Permissions: This menu allows you to configure permissions for your new user account.
   • 1. Basic Permissions:
        1. Configure: This allows the use of the main menu to configure the settings of the NVR. Only give this option to trusted users.
        2. Upgrade: This allows the user to update the firmware on the cameras and recorder. Only give this option to trusted users.
        3. View and Export…: This allows the user to view and export logs and configuration files. Only give this option to trusted users.
        4. Restart: This allows the user to restart the NVR. Only give this option to trusted users.
     2. Camera Permissions:
        1. Live View: This allows the user to view the Live View on certain cameras. You can choose either all cameras or specific cameras by selection the camera numbers on the right-hand side. Unselecting a camera will turn that camera into a blank square when this user is logged in.
        2. PTZ Control: This allows the user to move and zoom cameras that have the ability to do so. Only give this option to trusted users, as they will be able to adjust the position on motorized cameras.
        3. Playback: This allows the user to view Playback on certain cameras. ou can choose either all cameras or specific cameras by selection the camera numbers on the right-hand side. Unselecting a camera will force the error “You Do Not Have Permission” if the user tries to view playback.
        4. Manual Recording on from the NVR: This allows the user to override the recording schedule for your cameras and manually decide when a camera should record. Only give this option to trusted users.

Once you have completed the permissions for your new user, click the “OK” button on the bottom right-hand side. This will take you back to the User screen.

Setting Up Motion Recording Via Web Interface

Motion detection recording allows you to only record footage when there is activity in any of the areas that you are monitoring, making it easier to search for events recorded and also allowing your system to conserve disk space on your NVR’s hard drive.

Step 1. Navigating To The Motion Settings

1. Open the recorder web login by typing the recorders local IP address / external IP / DDNS into the Internet Explorer web browser.
2. Click “Download” at the top of the page to install the web plugin. Make sure you close your browser during the installation.
3. Reopen the recorders login page and login using your user name and password (Default is Username: admin Password: 123456)
4. Once you are logged in navigate to the “Settings” button at the top of the screen
   
5. . Once in the “Settings” menu on the left hand side navigate to “Camera > Motion”
6. All of your motions settings will be found in this menu. The first setting that will need to be configured is the “Area”. To set up the area for detection first click on “Start Drawing”, next on the image provided to the left start in the corner and drag and drop a red grid over the whole image.
   
7. Next make sure that the “Motion” setting is check to the “On” Position.
8. Every situation is different where the camera will be installed. Typically setting the sensitivity to 50 is recommended, then adjusting from there if needed. Either lowering if too many false triggers occur, or raising it if little to no triggers occur
9. Setting the Arming Schedule will be the next tab over.(time when actions will be
   triggered). We usually recommend keeping this at 24/7, but every situation is different!
   
10. Next setting to set up is going to be the “Trigger Actions”. The trigger actions are set up to the camera what to do when motion is detected. The main setting that you want to make sure you have set is the “Trigger Recording”. When setting the trigger reordering setting you want to check on the channel that you are currently configuring, for example if you are configuring motion for camera one in the trigger recorder menu “D1” would be checked on while all the other are unchecked and if you were configuring channel 5 under trigger recorder “D5” would be checked on while all the other were unchecked.

Step 2. Setting Up The Schedule

1. Next thing to set up will be the Schedule on the recorder. To access these setting navigate to “Settings > Camera > Schedule”
2. Pre-Record is for how much data will be saved from before the motion started. Post-Recorder is how long the camera will keep recording even after it has stopped detecting motion.
3. Make sure that “Recording Schedule” is check to the “On” position.
4. First thing you want to think about is if you want the cameras to record all of the time or on motion in this tutorial we are setting up all camera on motion. If you want the camera to record all of the time by default you can leave the schedule at the all blue color.
5. To change the Schedule to motion you can click the “Motion” button on the right and then drag and drop the green color over each day and hour starting in the corner.
6. Other option for setting up the Schedule is you can click on the “Edit” button just above the upper left corner. This will allow you to manual type in each periods start and end times how you want the recorder to record during that time.
   
   
7. You can then use the “Copy to” drop down to copy the schedule to all cameras or you can manual set up each camera by changing the Camera ID at the top.

How to set up Gmail email alerts on a Uniview NVR

This guide will explain each step to set up email alerts on a Uniview NVR using a Gmail account

Note

If you would like to receive E-mail alerts whenever an event has occurred, we recommend using a Gmail account. It’s free, secure, and easy to configure.  If you don’t already have a Gmail account you can create one here.

First, you’ll need to make sure that your Gmail account is configured to allow “less secure apps” to send E-mail to your account from the NVR.

1. Log into Gmail with your user name and password, then click on your account icon in the top right. Our account has been customized with the Nelly’s “N”.  Yours might have a default user icon.

2. Then click on the “My Account” button:

4. 2-Step Verification: Turn on 2 Step Verification if it’s not enabled, otherwise the setting you need to enable will not be displayed.

5. Now there should be an option for “App passwords” underneath 2-Step Verification. Select this option, Select App and choose “custom” and name it NVR/DVR and it will generate an app password that you will need to save for later.

6. Now that 2-step verification and app passwords are enabled the next step is to log into your NVR by opening a web browser and typing in the IP address.   Alternately, if you have the EZTools software you can click the “e” icon on the right to open the NVR in a web browser.

7. Once you’re logged in to the NVRs web interface go to Setup->Network->Email.  (Click to view full size)

8. First turn the Server Authentication to On, this is required by Gmail.  Next insert each field as explained below:

Username: Full Gmail email address  (ex. nellyssecurity@gmail.com)

Password: Generated App Password

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com

SMTP Port: 587 – Check the TLS/SSL box

Snapshot Interval: Check the box to attach a snapshot to the email when an event has occurred

Sender: NVR

Sender’s Address: Full Gmail email address

Select Recipient: Here you can choose to send to multiple people

Recipient: The name of the person receiving the email alerts

Recipient Address: Full Gmail email address of the person that will receive the email alerts

Schedule: Whenever you want the emails to send.  By default they are set to send all day every day if they are triggered.

9. Once all the information is in click Save.  Next click the Test button next to “Recipient Address” to send a test email to the specified email address.

10. Lastly, you will need to check the “Send Email” box for the event you want to trigger the alerts.  (Motion Detection, Cross Line Detection, etc)

If you want to set up email alerts for regular motion detection go to Camera->Motion.  The check box can be found under the Trigger Actions tab.

How To Manually Upgrade a UNV NVR Via Web Interface

If your NVR is accessible on the local area network using the web interface, you may update the
firmware using a file that has been downloaded and stored locally.

Within the Setup section of the web interface, go to the Maintenance section and select the Local Upgrade entry. On the screen that comes up, click on the Browse button next to the Upgrade text entry field and browse to the location on the local PC where the firmware file is stored and click on it. Once the file is properly entered, press the Upgrade button and the unit will perform the upgrade procedure including a reboot which will terminate your connection.

If you download a firmware off the Nelly’s website, you must export the Zip Folder out of the initial Zip Folder that is downloaded.

Adding Blank UNV Camera To UNV Retail NVR via Plug n Play

In scenarios where a Blank UNV camera is paired with a UNV Retail NVR, these will be plug n play. However, you may not get the full functionality of the Blank UNV Camera right away.

In this guide, we will show you the steps needed to allow the full functionality of the Blank UNV Camera.

Connecting The Camera

Since the Blank UNV cameras are plug n play with UNV Retail NVRs, the camera will come online if it is connected directly to the integrated POE switch of the NVR.

Camera Configuration via NVR

One thing you may notice however, the camera will show added with the ONVIF protocol. This can be very limiting as ONVIF only guarantees a live view and 24/7 recording.

If you go into the Smart Event section of the NVR while the camera is added via ONVIF, you will notice that none are available:

To accommodate for this, Go to Setup -> Camera -> Cameras. Checkmark the Camera, select Modify, change the Add Mode to IP Address, then change the Protocol to Uniview. Save.

Now that the camera is talking via the Uniview protocol, the Smart Events are now available!

Please Note

Not all UNV cameras support Smart Events, be sure to verify what events the camera supports beforehand! If you are unsure what events a camera may support, feel free to contact our Support or check the camera’s spec sheet.

Also Note

This guide will work along with UNV Retail Cameras and UNV Blank NVRs. Just the protocol will be changed to Private instead of Uniview on the Blank NVR.

■ 1.2 Add process with WiFi mode

1.2.1 Adding Process to Non-networked Devices

(1).Make sure the dial switch is placed to the side away from the 4G card slot; (2).Connect the device to the power supply and wait for the device indicator to flash slowly (in hotspot mode, flash once every 2s);

(3).Please go to the phone system settings and select the device hotspot starting with IPC. The default password is 11111111 (Figure 1) (Hint: please keep connected with the device hotspot during the connection process).

□ There is QR code:

1. .After connecting to the hotspot, return to APP, scan the QR code of the device (Figure 2), and click “Add” on the search page (Figure 3);
2. .View video via WIFI or other network, please select Remote View.View video without network , select Direct Connection.

Remote view: Click the “Remote view” button (Figure 4) to go to the configuration network interface. The system will display the WiFi search near the device below the interface. Select or input the routing WiFi name and password at home (Figure 5) and click OK The device is configured with WiFi (Figure 6). After the configuration is successful, follow the interface to complete the device name and password settings (Figures 7 and 8). After the addition is successful, return to the device list.

Direct Connection: Click the “Local direct connection” button (Figure 4), pop-up box for setting the device name, follow the interface content to complete the device name and password settings (Figure 7, 8), and return to the device list after adding successfully.

1. .After connecting to the hotspot, return to the APP, enter the QR code scanning interface, and click “Other ways to add” (Figure 2);
2. .Select the wireless standalone camera (Figure 9). For the subsequent network configuration steps, please refer to the second step of adding the QR code on the device.

1.2.2 Add process of networked device

□ When there is a QR code on the device:

1. .Scan the QR code on the device (Figure 1),click “Add” on the search page (Figure 2);
2. .Set device name (Figure 3), Input the correct password (Fig 4) (skip this step if there is no password), and return to the device list after adding successfully.
3. If unable to find the QR code on the device:

1. .Confirm that the device is connected to a router with internet access through the network cable;
2. .The subsequent adding steps are the same as the adding process of networked devices in 1.2.2.

4G spotlight camera management Flow recharge and abnormal conditions

■ 2.1 4G spotlight camera management Flow recharge

4G card management:

1. .When the flow is sufficient, it will be displayed normally (Figure 1). When the flow reaches the warning value, it will display the current remaining flow (Figure 2);
2. .Click the 4G card management (Figure 3) or the traffic alert value prompt text in the settings to jump to the 4G card management interface (Figure 4), and you can view the traffic usage, signal level and other information of the 4G card in the current interface.

4G card traffic recharge:

(1 ).ln the 4G card management interface, click the “flow recharge” button (Figure 4), enter the flow purchase interface (Figure 5), select the package and payment method, and then click pay now (Figure 6);

(2).After the payment is completed, it will return to the app and display the result details. After the recharge is successful, it will display the recharge device, flow and other information (Figure 7).

Note: The effective time of recharging is expected to take effect within one hour according to the situation of each operator.

■ 2.2 4G card device abnormal conditions

When the 4G card device has no traffic and the package expires, the device list displays the corresponding status (Figure 1 and 2). Click to view the details to enter the 4G card details interface, display the corresponding status

(Figure 3 and 4) according to the offline reason of the device list, and click the flow recharge to enter the 4G card flow recharge process.

Note: when the camera is inserted into the 4G card that is not provided with the device, it will not support the functions such as recharge of the traffic package, traffic query, early warning, etc. (Figure 5).

Introduction

The TV-NVR1508 NVR is network video recorders that offer a standalone solution for managing IP cameras and systems. The built-in high-quality decoder can deliver 4K/ 5MP/ 3MP/ 1080p/ 720p/ D1/ VGA/ CIF IP camera streams. Click to enter NVR SETTINGS and click General on the top panel, where you are allowed to adjust system configurations of the NVR. The details of the tabs are described as follows:

Chapter 2-1 General

• Device ID: Assign an ID for the NVR to be controlled by the remote controller.
• Audio Out Volume: Adjust the volume of the NVR.
• Sound On Button Press: Switch on/off the sound when pressing remote control buttons.
• Last Boot Time: Shows the last time the system is rebooted.
• Automatic Logout: Log out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity.
• Automatic Login: Specify user account to log on automatically when the system power on.

Chapter 2-2 Time

• Date/Time: Set the date/time of the NVR.
• Date Format: Modify the date display format.
• Time OSD: Switch on/off the time to be displayed on the screen.
• Time Zone: Change the time zone of the location where the NVR is installed.
• Time Sync Mode: Choose how you would like the time to be synced.
• NTP Server: Enter the NTP server you want to use.
• Time Sync Interval: Choose the interval for the time to be synced.
• NTP Status: The status of connection to selected NTP server will appear here.

Chapter 2-3 User

The NVR supports up to 15 sets of individual user settings (including default user administrator, operator, and guest), to which you can assign different access privileges.

• User: Enter the name of the user (applicable only to User01-12).
• Old Password, New Password, and Confirm Password: If you would like to change the password, enter your previous password and enter the new password and confirm the password. Press Show to reveal the password.
• User Permission: Set the access privileges of the user to administrator, operator, or guest.
• Load Default: Restore to the default settings.

Chapter 2-4-1 HDD MGT

In HDD MGT, there are HDD format, file system defrag, check HDD malfunctioned blocks, and HDD periodic inspection. Select a desired HDD and click Format, File System Defrag, Bad Block Check, or Regular Check.

Regular Check:

Allows you to set the interval between system checks: Parameters: Click each device to enter the screen below.

System Reserve Ratio allows you to allocate the percentage of HDD space that will not be occupied by recorded files. In Mount Option, choose the writing mode for the hard drive.

Chapter 2-4-2 S.M.A.R.T.

The S.M.A.R.T. status of your hard drive is displayed in S.M.A.R.T., where you can run analysis (either short or extended) on the HDD. Choose between Short or Extended analysis and click Analysis to start the process. You will see HDD status, information, attributes, and event history under HDD S.M.A.R.T. Information.

Connect a USB device (flash drive or hard drive) to the NVR, and check the one you want to format under this page, and then click Format.

Chapter 2-5-1 System

The search field in this page allows you to search for specific event reports at different time and of different content. Press Download to export the event report, Reload to update.

Chapter 2-5-3 Alarm

The event history is displayed in alarm log.

• Event Period: Recorded event duration.
• Search Time: Display search duration.
• Calendar: Select date to search
• Channel: Select channel number to search

Chapter 2-6 Maintenance

• Firmware Update: Choose a firmware file and click Update to proceed firmware update.
• Export Settings: Click Export to copy system settings to a USB flash drive.
• Import Settings: Click Import to apply a system setting that is stored in the plugged USB flash drive.
• Factory Reset: Click Reset to restore the system to the factory settings.
• Soft Reboot: Click to soft reset the system.
• Watchdog Test: Click to test the system watchdog function. This will reboot the NVR.
• Kernel Version: The kernel version of the system.
• Support: Click to open server execution log options dialog, record system execution details.

Chapter 3 Network

Chapter 3-1 General

Enter the required information in the fields:

• IP Mode: Select the connection type of the NVR from Static, DHCP, and PPPoE.
• IP Address: Enter the IP address you want to use, and press IP Test if necessary.
• Subnet Mask: Enter the desired subnet mask.
• Default Gateway: Enter the desired default gateway.
• Primary DNS: Enter the first priority DNS server.
• Secondary DNS: Enter the secondary DNS server in case the primary DNS is not available.
• Video Port: Specify a desired video port.
• HTTP Port: Specify a desired HTTP port.
• HTTPS Port: Specify a desired HTTPS port and configure HTTPS.
• FTP Port: Specify the desired FTP port.
• MAC: This is the MAC address of your NVR.
• PPPoE Account: If you choose to connect through PPPoE, enter the account name here.
• PPPoE Password: Enter the required password for PPPoE connection.
• PPPoE IP: Your PPPoE IP will be displayed here.
• Hotspot IP: Your hotspot IP will be displayed here.

Chapter 3-1-1 Configuring HTTPs Port

The DHD DVR series support HTTPs (Hypertext Secure Transmission Protocol) service. HTTPs is an Internet protocol that ensures the integrity and confidentiality of data as it travels between users’ computers and websites. When users visit any website, they want a secure and private online experience.

HTTPs can be regarded as the advanced security version of HTTP. The SSL protocol is added as a security certificate. Therefore, the website can prevent data thief from directly seeing the transmitted data even if they intercept the transmitted information by using the encryption on the agreement.

There are two options to set HTTPs service:

1. The first option is to create a free self-signed certificate by filling-in the blank field below. Then, click Create Self-signed Certificate.
2. The second option is to purchase an SSL certificate by filling-in the blank field below and click on Create Certificate Request. Then, click on the Export Certificate Request to download the request into a PC and use to apply for official certification. After purchasing the SSL certificate from a third party company, click on the Import Signed Certificate.

Chapter 3-2 Advanced

Chapter 3-2-1 TCP/IP

NVR supports three sets of virtual IP addresses. When TCP/IP is switched On, the NVR can access the camera or another NVR using the specific IP.

Chapter 3-2-2 P2P

1. When activated successfully, a QR code will appear on the screen, and you can access the NVR with Sentinel app by scanning the QR code.

• Enable: Choose On to activate the service.

Chapter 3-3 E-Mail

When an alarm is triggered, the NVR can automatically send e-mail notifications to the recipients you designated.

The setting options are described below:

• Send E-Mail: Check the box to enable sending e-mail notifications when an alarm is triggered.
• E-Mail List: The list shows all saved e-mail addresses.
• Edit Contact: Enter the email address you want to save as contacts and click Modify.
• Authorization: Check if your e-mail account requires login authorization.
• SSL/TLS: Check if your e-mail sever requires encryption.
• E-Mail Account: Enter the account name of your e-mail.
• E-Mail Password: Enter the password of your e-mail.
• Sender: Enter the name you would like to display in the e-mail.
• E-Mail Host: Enter the IP address of your e-mail server.
• Port: Enter the port of your e-mail server.
• JPEG File: Check to also attach JPEG photos when an alarm is triggered.
• Candidate: Choose an email address and press Down or Up arrows to add contacts as recipients.
• Receiver: The list of recipient(s).
• Annotation: Content of the email notification.
• Trigger Conditions: Designate when to send the notification email by Channel Events and System Events.
• Channel Events: Click to open the dialog below.

• Motion: Check to send e-mail when movements are detected.
• Alarm: Check to send e-mail when external alarms are set off.
• Video Loss: Check to send e-mail when connection with IP Camera is lost.

• System Events: Click to open the dialog below.

• HDD S.MAR.T. abnormal
• HDD track error

• HDD S.M.A.R.T. abnormal: Check to send E-Mail when an S.M.A.R.T. error is detected.

• HDD track error: Check to send E-Mail when an HDD error is detected.

• E-Mail Test: Click to send the testing email to verify out the settings.

Chapter 3-4 FTP

When an alarm is triggered, the NVR can automatically send snapshots to the FTP server you designated. The setting options are described below:

• FTP Server: Enter the IP address of the FTP server.
• Port: Enter the port of the FTP server.
• Account: Enter the account name of the FTP server.
• Password: Enter the password of the FTP server
• Prefix & Postfix: Specify the prefix and postfix of snapshot files.
• File Name Format: Change the file name format to suit your need.

Check the cameras that you want to send notifications to the FTP when an alarm is triggered, and specify the folder name where the images are saved.

Chapter 3-5 DDNS

With DDNS, you can access an NVR connected to the Internet through the DDNS URL, whatever the actual IP is. The setting options are described below:

• Server: Choose the DDNS server you want to use.
• Hostname: Enter the hostname of the DDNS server.
• User: Enter the username to log in to the DDNS server.
• Password: Enter the password to log in to the DDNS server.
• WAN IP: Enter your WAN IP if the NVR cannot automatically get the correct address.
• Check Interval: Choose the time interval you want the system to check theDDNS connection.

Note: The DDNS feature requires Internet connection.

Chapter 3-6 Other

The NVR also supports other protocols such as UPnP and SDDP, and related configurations can be modified in the OTHER tab. The setting options are described below:

• UPnP Device Name: The device name shown on the UPnP network.

• UPnP Service: Switch on/off the UPnP service.

• IE Default Live View: Select the default streaming type (H.264 or MJPEG) when streaming using Internet Explorer.
• Reset on Ethernet Error: Reset the PHY when an Ethernet error is detected, and leave a record entry in the event table
• Browser Auto Logout (30 Minutes): Log out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity.
• SDDP Device Name: The device name shown on the SDDP network.
• SDDP Service: Switch on/off the SDDP service.
• IP Address Filtering: Switch on/off the IP filtering function, press Setup to open the filtering IP address setting dialog.
• Over Bitrate Protection: Switch on/off protection function that when network input throughput over the limitation reducing live video decode to protect recording data.
• ONVIF Service: Turn on ONVIF support when using with other ONVIF equipments.
• IPScan Service: Turn on to work with Camera Search Tool

Chapter 4 Camera

Chapter 4-1 General

• Camera Name: Enter the camera name to be displayed on the streaming screen.
• Camera Source: Allocate a NVR channel for the camera. Select Off, IP camera, or Auto.
• IP Address: Enter the IP address of the camera you want to connect.
• HTTP Port: Enter the port for HTTP connection.
• RTSP Port: Enter the port for RTSP connection.
• User: Enter the username required for camera authorization.
• Password: Enter the password required for camera authorization.
• Stream Type: Choose whether to stream only the primary video or dual (primary & secondary) videos.
• Primary Stream: Select the FPS and GOP for the primary stream.
• Primary Stream Bitrate: Select the bitrate for the primary stream.
• Secondary Stream: Select the FPS and GOP for the secondary stream (available only if Dual Stream is activated in Stream Type).
• Sec. Stream Bitrate: Select the bitrate for the secondary stream.
• Decode Ref. : Select the number of reference frame for the decoder, and choose Immediate for lower latency or Smooth for smoother but higher latency video.
• Display: Disable the video function (live feeds and playback) of the selected camera.
• Sync Time with NVR: Turn On for the camera to sync time with the NVR.
• Security Protocol: Check box to allow HTTPS connections to the IP camera. The recommended HTTP port setting is 443.
• Test: Press to check ONVIF device information including manufacturer, model #, firmware version, serial # and hardware ID.
• Assign RTSP URL: Assign required RTSP URL, NVR will connect to camera via required RTSP URL but not Onvif.
• RTSP Multicast Setting: Assign required RTSP multicast port.
• IPScan: Click IPScan to scan for connected devices on the network.
• Cancel: Click Cancel to stop scanning.
• Auto Adjust IP: Automatically assign IP for connected cameras.
• Snap: Show snapshot thumbnails for all the cameras.
• Set IP: Assign an IP address to the camera.

Chapter 4-2 Video

In this page, you can adjust several camera parameters including Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, and Sharpness.

Click Default to restore the NVR to its factory settings. Click Refresh to update the preview image.

Chapter 5 Record

Chapter 5-1 General

• Record Mode: Switch on/off scheduled recording.
• Audio: Switch on/off audio recording.
• Post-alarm Record: Enable to record after an event takes place. Set the time (second) for the NVR to record after the alarm is triggered.
• Weighted Record: If any alarm is triggered when Weighted Record is turned on, the recording frame rate will be adjusted to the pre-determined value (which can be set in CAMERA SETUP). Otherwise, the NVR will record at a lower frame rate (approximately 4-5 FPS).

Note: System Recording Mode must set to Schedule and Recording schedule set to Always.

Chapter 5-2 Schedule

To modify the recording schedule, switch the recording type from Always (continuous recording), Alarm (record only when an alarm is triggered), or No Record (disable recording), and highlight the desired date and time accordingly. Click Apply All to apply your selection of recording type to all dates and time.

Chapter 5-3 Advanced

• System Recording Mode: Choose between Manual or Scheduled recording.

• Overwritten: Switch on to overwrite old files when the storage is full.
• Pre-alarm Record: Switch on to start recording for a period before an alarm occurs.
• Limited Recording: Set the number of days to record (from now to the designated day).
• Protected Recording: Set how many days of video the NVR will preserve.
• Estimate Recording Time: The estimate number of days that can be recorded based on the hard disk size
• Average Recording Bitrate: The average video stream size based on the current bandwidth received by the NVR.
• Average Recording Size: The available recording space according to the current installed hard disk.
• Average Recording Time: The estimate number of days that can be recorded based on the hard disk size.

Chapter 6 Alarm

Chapter 6-1 General

• Alarm Input Type: Set the alarm sensor to Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), or IP Camera. The last option will trigger the alarm only when receiving a signal from IP cameras.
• Motion Enable: Switch on/off motion detection. Remember also to set the motion detection area in the tab MOTION AREA.
• Motion Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of motion detection. Higher sensitivity indicates that the alarm can be more easily triggered.
• Save Event Snapshot: Enable to store a snapshot on the hard drive when an alarm is triggered.
• Motion Popup: The display view pops up when the motion is triggered.
• Specify Alarm Text: The alarm text displays on the channel when the alarm is triggered
• Display View: Turn on/off the display view when the alarm is triggered.
• Display Type: Switching display view to camera/view when alarm is triggered.
• Alarm Popup: The display view pops up when the alarm input is triggered
• Metadata Popup: The display view pops up when the metadata event is triggered
• Display Content: Camera: Switch display to the selected channel. View: Switch display to the selected split view group.

Chapter 6-2 Motion Area

Click and drag across the grid to highlight motion detection areas. Click Apply All Channels to apply the areas to all camera channels.

Chapter 6-3 Output

Chapter 6-3-1 Buzzer

• Enable: Turn On to activate the buzzer.
• Trigger Conditions: See Channel Events and System Events above for more details.
• Alarm Send Interval: Set the frequency of buzzer beeping when an alarm is triggered.

Note: SYSTEM SETUP > GENERAL > Buzzer must be enabled.
